He was Co-OC with OL coach Matt Moore. Strange three headed animal since Neal Brown was calling plays. Edenfield is a good OC and he'll be successful at USA. The culture Steve Campbell brings to USA is far more important than any staff member. He's a great coach and will do great things at USA. Edenfield will also be much closer to his family now as well. I know that was a big factor in the move. He and Steve played ball together in college so I don't really view this as a "FU" move. Best of luck to him.

Probably my favorite game Chunn has played in. He was an absolute beast that night. Also the dude at 1:25 is getting extra reps this week. We're supposedly "leaning" on him for this game.

Yeah man he has 47 TDs in his career. At 6'1" 240 he's tough to bring down. He outran the LSU defense for a 75 yard gain to the 1 before we punched it in to go up 17-0, so he's not a slow dude at 240. He's just a hoss. One of my favorite plays was when he trucked a Southern Miss defender for a TD.

We have plenty of weapons and I think Chunn and Henderson will have a great game. Blace Brown is the one that worries me. Also worried about how these injuries affect the overall mindset of the team. Hopefully we still go into attack mode and not go ultra conservative because of injuries. Brown out could be a confidence boost for Mason Fine as well. We'll see how it shakes out.

Emanual Thompson is our leading receiver. He's out with injury. We've been successful lately heaving the ball downfield to true freshman Trey Eaford. He's out too. Inside receiver / Redshirt Senior Clark Quisenberry who's great in blocking is also out. He played for Larry Blakeney in 2013, possibly in 2012 so he may have played against UNT. NCAA Active career interception leader in Blace Brown is also out with injury. Big break for you guys. OT Kirk Kelley is recovering and getting snaps, but he is not completely healthy. He will play though. We do get back a deep threat receiver we haven't had much this reason due to injury in Ismail Saleem. Look for him to take Eaford's role, he's the fastest guy on the team and has caught some deep balls in the past. Damion Willis (EMCC's #1 receiver last season) is also coming on a deep threat. We should be fine offensively, especially running the ball, but we won't be 100%. The big that hurts is loosing Blace Brown at CB. We have a Freshman All-American behind him that is an absolute beast, but having both him and Blace Brown would have made it really, really tough on Mason Fine. Not sure who is behind the All-American CB Marcus Jones. The other two corners on the other side are really good, one of them an Auburn transfer.

I can tell you I have seen safeties and corners make run stops from time to time. We do a lot of exotic coverages to confuse the quarterback and send in guys to stop the run you wouldn't normally expect. Troy's DC is seasoned P5 DC that really knows what he's doong. Not talking smack, just pointing out an advantage Troy might have with your top running back out. Troy's senior RB Jordan Chunn has 47 career TDs and is 6'1, 240. He likely wants to get 50 before his last game as a college football player is over. If you watched Troy's game vs LSU you know he has speed too. Our MO has been to run Chunn a lot and wear the defense out in the 4th where he can really shine. He's a big guy to stop and he's best against undersized lines. I've heard you guys are fast on defense but not particularly large. Chunn could have an advantage. We have a Memphis transfer that's really turned it on at the backup running back position. He set the Alabama all time record for yards and touchdowns in a season and currently leads the Sun Belt in yards per carry (8.25). With so many receivers out I think you might see us run the ball most of the night.

Brown is out. Our top receiver is also out, as well another who is our top deep threat. A third guy who started at inside receiver is also out. He was a 5 year guy who played for Blakeney back in the day. Starting OT is questionable. We are really banged up, but the good news is our defense didn't lose as many guys as I expected. A starting safety and a linebacker went out during the ARKST game, but they are not listed as injured. Our fastest receiver Mccormick is %100 after most thought he would be out. Injury situation is bad, but not as bad as I thought. I won't pick a winner of this game because of how banged up we are. We have guys who can step up, but it will be about what happens when those guys get tired. You guys are a worthy opponent and we will have to play our asses off to beat you guys.

We're not Alabama or Auburn by any means. I do think you need a good defense to hang with top level talent from P5 schools like LSU and Florida State. Big schools like that almost always shut down the smaller school's offense, even when they are pretty good in G5 circles. When you bring a defense that can stop them, it gives your team a chance to get a few lucky bounces before it gets out of hand. I just don't think you could stop LSU or Florida State from rolling 30+ on you guys.

No. This is our first 10 win regular season in our FBS history. We beat LSU, and beat the reigning champs for a SBC title - something we haven't had since our five year run from 2006 - 2010. We beat a MAC division champ along the way. If we lose to you guys it will still be a great season. You would have had to have been there when we were really bad from 2011 to 2014 to understand that this and last year are great seasons no matter what happens in the bowls. We are also not a heavy favorite. 65% usually translates to being a 7 point favorite. That's a really close game. We are -6.5 in Vegas right now. Expect a mid to high scoring game.

Had it been you guys playing LSU, they would have ran for over 300 yards and 4 TDs. Our defense kept us in the game. You would not have beaten them napping, asleep, or otherwise. FAU lead North Teas 41-7 at the half, and 34-0 shortly after the half in the second game. Those combined 50 points you scored were against their scrubs. FAU didn't even have a world beating defense this year, you guys just got outplayed, twice. Troy would probably not beat FAU, but It'd be a lot closer than what you guys did. You guys keep underestimating Troy. We've got a couple really good running backs and an underrated quarterback and offensive line that's gotten better as the year has progressed. I'll take them over your defense as it stands.

To each his own I guess. SMU's rush defense is 107th, our is 7th. Hard to argue their front is somehow better than ours. We also lead them in sacks and tackles for loss by a good margin. UTSA is 50 spots behind Troy in all three major statistics you'd use to measure a team's front seven: Rush Defense, Sacks, and Tackles for Loss. As for Iowa, they are also significantly lower than Troy in all of those stats, but they play in a big boy conference, so I won't argue that one.

I won't discount it entirely though, as I have said I do think CUSA is the better conference, just not the world of difference many fans make it out to be.

The other two clearly show that Troy and UNT have similar schedules. Both CUSA and the SBC have some terrible schools. We have a few really good ones too.

That's fair. As I said, LSU was down a few players, but most G5s over the last ten years would have lost that game. P5s even when sleeping on their opponents usually always pull out a last second win. They didn't and Troy got the "W". Credit to our staff. Neal Brown teams do not do well the week after a big win. Hopefully two weeks is enough to prep for you guys without getting a big head with all the ring sizing they'll be doing. As far as LSU making that big of difference, Iowa has the same rating on Massey. So you have one big team to bring up your SOS as well. They're also one team out of 12, so when you do the math, they don't affect our SOS that much. As I said, not much difference between our schedules.

He's a true dual threat QB. Our defense can't handle a guy who runs that much. We also don't defend Triple Option offenses well either, but that's neither here nor there. Hansen has over six times the rushing yards Fine has. Troy's bread and butter is confusing the QB with exotic looks. We can tee up against pocket passers doing this relatively well. When the QB decides to run every two or three plays it takes away our advantage.

It's also a game we won. So that argument doesn't really help you. It's no secret that Troy was not LSU's best game, but they were 49-0 in Death Valley vs non-conference. Almost no G5's ever get that kind of win vs that type of opponent even when they're at their worst. Bigtime P5's almost always win. This time they didn't and Troy got the win. It's a testament to Neal Brown's staff.

I'm just here to talk stats. Don't misunderstand me, North Texas is a tough team and we'll have to play as well as we did vs ARKST to beat you guys. Much respect. ESPN and several others say our strength of schedule is virtually the same. Time to drop the inflated stats argument. The SBC is the worst, but CUSA is not much better. The run game likely won't happen for you, and Fine will have to make something happen. It doesn't look like your offensive line is good at blocking, and that's bad news vs this Troy defense. One more note: Our DC is Vic Koenning. He was Clemson's DC from 2005 to 2008 and had four Top 15 defenses there. He is a seasoned big time P5 defensive coordinator. He's been successful everywhere. We currently have the 11th ranked scoring defense in the country, right where it was when he was at Clemson.
