Ryan, I was there. I heard what the UNT students said and I saw them throw water bottles and other stuff onto the UTSA sideline. Let's just also say that racism was alive and well in that section, that night. The players reacted to things that should never happen and never be said, just as you are. That's all I'll say about it other than I'm sorry that someone did those things to you, and if I were in your position, I'd feel the same way.

I was at that game in 2013 and sat near enough to the UNT student section to see them throw things on the field at the UTSA players and hear some of the things that were being said. I know young, and probably inebriated youngsters are not how you should judge a group but I certainly understood why the UTSA player flipped off the student section. It didn't make it right, but I understood because it was bad. Luckily, my son was really too young to understand what was being said, otherwise we would've had to leave. Your team just got into an altercation with UAB a couple of weeks ago after the game and clearly your coach was not happy with some of the things that his team was doing and saying. The point is that fans tend to see things through their prism and it's understandable but if UNT fans think that incident in 2013 was all one-sided, that's simply incorrect. I was there.

It was a deal for upper-deck tickets to a single game in the 70,000 seat Alamodome back in 2011-12. UTSA's first and second season of football. It actually worked pretty well.

Of course I'm biased but I think the UTSA defense could end up top 25 by the end of the season. They've got 2 or 3 legitimate NFL draft prospects. It was a good win for CUSA. I was actually rooting for you guys against SMU. I hate those smug jackasses. The AAC is not that much better than CUSA in football.

I realize that there is no love lost between the fan bases of UNT and UTSA but some of the posts here are pretty trashy to say the least. If any of you had ever met or knew Lynn Hickey, you'd know that she is one of the most down to earth, good people you'll ever meet. She's done a lot for UTSA and sports in general for the whole State of Texas. She's brought multiple Final Fours to the state, is the only Div.1 female AD in Texas history over both men's and women's sports, was President of the Southland Conf., on the Div. 1 Men's Basketball Committee that picks the 64 NCAA Tournament teams, etc. Anyway, you get the idea. Sorry there's been some less than classy UTSA fans. All fanbases have them. It's expected to trash each other's teams and schools and there's been bad blood between UTSA and UNT but to personally attack her is pretty low even in that context.
