The gunslinger for North Texas doesn't have a household name because he plays for a relatively obscure team and isn't much of an NFL prospect at 5'11" with little to no mobility.

The mobility thing I think is what will hurt is draftability...  Bc typically, if your smaller, at least you can scoot.  Maybe he can really be a Drew Brees type QB.

I wonder what they will do this year to showcase him even more.  He is our guy... he needs to be the NT QB that gets drafted, not a FA signing, but drafted.  He deserves it.

  2. Im hopeful for Ejiya... I think he could be a late rounder.

I loved Guyton while he was here.  I do think, however, he left too soon. I think one more year of showcasing talent would have done him some good.

I do see why he left early though... Things were getting crowded at WR at UNT.  I imagine he thought this was his best chance to get drafted while his stock was relatively high.

Where has he taken us? Yes, we aren't 2015 Dan McCarney bad anymore, but your comment infers we're on a UCF-type run or something. Statistics are fun to watch. But stats don't create automatic W's, or win bowl games and conference championships.

Not sure how you got the UCF-type run connection from what he said...

I agree, Mason has helped put UNT more on the map than any other QB we have had.  Between him and the program Seth has built, I can say that we are no longer thought as a bottom dwelling FBS school.  For us, thats big.  Is it where we want to be? No way.  Do we still have some work to do to be a UCF, you bet... but because of Mason and company, we are closer to it than we ever have been before.

  4. Not to be a Debbie Downer here... but I still have a bad taste in my mouth from our bowl game.

USU was a good school and was motivated to win... but it seemed like we couldnt hold a candle to them.  Yes, I am well aware that Fine went down.

I am nervous about UH and Cal.  I just think there is a big drop from AAC and PAC12 talent to CUSA.  If we can beat SMU in Dallas, I will feel better.

Also, I want to see us start playing complete games and not just the first half of games...

I think we still have a shot at the CUSA title, but I am nervously optimistic.

    Let the down votes begin...

I wonder if the Athletic Department will include the Mean Green Garage Sale with the Caravan.  It's never been done before but we've never had the Garage Sale rained out before.

I would imagine they attach the garage sale to the season ticket pick up event. I am sure they dont want to lug all that stuff to an event

I see your point, but you're arguing to cut slack about something that we don't even know the details on.  That's why we're speculating (and because like SSG said, it involves devil-lite).

Remember these are kids that can: vote, be drafted, (should be allowed to drink), go to jail, get married, ..., and who many are also arguing should be getting paid for playing.  I cut them slack for not making perfect decisions on the field and for minor mistakes like GMG_Dallas said, but until we have details, there's no slack to cut.

How would people react to a 20 yr old welder that got fired from his job "for some unknown reason"?

Sorry... I guess I should have been more specific.  I don't know what he did either... but what I am saying is we arent owed anything in regards to knowing.  Would I like to know... sure, but am I mad they arent telling us?  Nah.  He's a kid.  He did something wrong that got him suspended.

Also, I think people would react just fine if a 20 yr old welder got fired for "some unknown reason."  In fact, I would love to see the message boards that talk about welders.

Coaches should not be allowed to do this kind of stuff. I have never been a fan of this. It allows people to forget about the issue, sweep it under the rug and eventually skirt around it. And, of course, the player (usually) always gets to come back and play. Then, a few months goes by, and there's a Baylor situation on our hands again. Transparency should be dictated regardless of who the player is or the talent level.

Lets remember that these players are still kids for the most part... cut them a little slack

I’ve argued for awhile that the SBCUSA is basically the same, for football and hoops. Nobody here cares about F_Us or ODU or Charlotte. At Marshall, they have no interest whatsoever in UTSA or UTEP. I’d imagine that Coastal Carolina and the G_Us in the SBC don’t move the needle much at Texas State, Louisiana, or Arkansas state.

ASAP, these two conferences would benefit GREATLY from realigning their members.

I really do love conference realignment talk... (really, no sarcasm... I love it)

Lets be real... unless we win 4 of the next 6 CUSA titles, we will be living in SBCUSA world for quite some time.

Once all the conference realignments start back up, I would love to see the better schools from SBC and CUSA come together for a conference that could start to rival AAC.  I just hope we will be in those conversations!

Outside of posting something like..(There is a new DL, don’t have a name yet,....but it doesn’t appear there’s anyone in camp who can block him one on one).......this is the best thing you’ve typed all day.

Yes, bc I am sure before Bodie got here, our tight ends just ran water out to players.  So glad they are working on catching the ball now!

In so many cases, the company you keep reflects who you are. Right now, people view our league on similar terms as the SBC. To not see this increase in competitive names across both sports is just unfathomable to me.

This may open up a whole other can of worms here... but I would argue that the current version of the Sun Belt is stronger than CUSA.

I do like playing more local schools in our current conference, but I think Troy could beat any team in our conference easily.

It's my understanding that once the existing facilities are brought up to speed and/or finished, then baseball will be addressed. WB wants BB, but wants to be at the best with what we currently have.

Yes... a lot of our facilities are seriously lacking. I would rather see those be brought up to snuff before adding another money drain.  Like i would really like to have a football locker room that rivaled at least FAU

Also, just asking the question... would you rather see a new basketball/volleyball arena before we got a baseball stadium.

None of the other QB’s on the bench that I can think of ever went somewhere else and flourished.  So I’d say no,... the system under Canales wasn’t over complicated.

During Canales’ time here he helped produce 20 All Conference selections, an NFL running back and (two?) NFL O linemen and won a bowl game with a record setting QB.  So he did a little of something right.

    Rick

Yes... he deserves all the credit for those players.
