My biggest complaint is that Fine is taking too many hits. He's doing a great job at getting the ball off but it looked like the RBs struggled in pass protection at times.
Edit:
On the positive side, amazing win, defense was great. Let's keep this going.

As far as I'm concerned, this is all talk. We have to go out and perform on Saturday. This first game will be very telling on how this season goes, good or bad. Our guys better be prepared.

Is your friend coming to the game? Is so, he will probably be one of the usual 50 or so SMU fans that can manage that "long long trek all the way up I-35" to support their team. Beat SMUt!
We're going together. It's become an annual tradition for us. He's already complained about the long trek....it's going to be even longer with the UNT fight song blaring in my car speakers the entire drive. 😎

The club membership thing has not been around for at least five or six years, or at least if it is still on the books, it is definitely not enforced in Denton.
Well, considering its been that long since I've been to a bar in Denton....there ya go. Let me continue to pretend to be Kevin Bacon though please.

I have to say, one thing Denton is lacking is a really good sports bar.
Because of the stupid club laws that make you have to be a "member" in order to serve liquor. This is like Footloose and we should all be Kevin Bacon.

They have a starter (out injured), they have a backup (injured too). They signed Morris for the 3rd spot.
McNicholls and Wilson are playing for the practice squad. Hopefully this means Wilson is ahead of him on that race...That's what it looks like. I expect both Wilson and McNicholls to duke it out next week. They play again this Thursday and I vet they only run Wilson, McNicholls and Mostert that game. No sense in tsetting Morris get hurt with your two starters already banged up. I do hope he gets a shot on the practice squad. I really think he could be a great 3DB.

It wasn't in the 4th quarter. That's when I tuned in expecting him to get touches. From what I've read, it seems like he played in the first half wirh the 1s and 2s...
5 carries isn't a huge sample size but he averaged over 4 yards per touch against his limited action against the Texans also. I hope they at least put him on the practice squad.

Injuries happen in all football games. I have seen a lot of these type games and I have never been aware of any more injuries than the average game. Exception is the old series with Miss State were they intentionally tried to take out NT players.
Heaven help us if we injure any of their players though, though I doubt Chad Morris will stoop as low as that scumbag McElwain when Wheeler injured their qb del Rio on a perfectly legitimate tackle. I can't believe he's still coaching after he ran that program into the ground.
Edit: refreshed my memory on it. Wheeler did end up tackling him at his knee, but he pushed low by the pass protection as he was trying to sack del Rio.

Looks like Williams is out for the rest of the preseason and may be in line to be cut anyway. Jeff should get more touches. This also probably helps increase his likelihood of making the practice squad. Reports are also suggesting that Williams isn't living up to expectations.

More praise for Mr. Fine. Just a fun little article.

Can we just set up one thread for coach change speculation? There's like 4 of them on the front page alone and they're all killing my buzz for the season ahead.

How about those on here that thought Damascus Smith might be the answer here when SL got hired? Dude could barely beat out McNulty and Greer, the two worst QBs that we’ve ever started a game with in my almost 30 years of following the team.
To be fair to McNulty, Greer, and Smith, they all had receivers that couldn't catch a ball if it was handed to them. The amount of drops on catchable passes I saw in 2014 and 2015 were absurd. More important to teach them to block instead of catch I guess.

Yeah, but as of the end of game, they didn't use him at RB. I'm disappointed, especially since the first couple of RB's struggled (though obviously that was against 1st and 2nd teamers). It doesn't seem like they've given him a chance to make the team, let alone the practice squad, which as we all know will be a huge loss to the 49ers.

Redshirt junior De’Andre Johnson is currently battling redshirt freshman Chris Robison for the starting quarterback job. Kiffin said the addition of Peavey is “not any reflection upon” Johnson and Robison’s performances.
Seems like they might've lost something at qb if they're looking at grad transfers.

dmn missed out on this, but they hit on most everything else
They FREQUENTLY snub us. There's usually at least a handful of dmn articles about SMUt football every week, but they barely cover us. Now that may be because the DRC, but still. This particular article snub is noteworthy because of how successful we've already been with our 2019 recruiting class.
Here's to hoping the cannon makes peruna run away from his handlers because it goes off so many times. September 1st cannot get here soon enough.

Well, a teen recruit out of Southlake might take visual notes of an office!
I would say I doubt they would but recently I've been seeing a girl (we're both in our mid 20s for perspective) that grew up in the Southlake area. She would notice the office finish lol, so you might be onto something. I still doubt that's what influences teenagers on what school to accept a scholarship to.

A downvote does not answer my question about what a teenager thinks about an office.

We have repeatedly complained about the meager (relatively, compared to P5) money being put toward good use, but we want them to spend it on an office? Hell no. Make a nice recruit meeting room or something, or take them to the gym or our future indoor practice field. What the hell does an 16, 17, 18 year old care about a damn office?
