He was alternating throws with Shammy (not an authorized nickname) back to Morris before the start of the 2nd half.  He was throwing the ball very gingerly.  He didn't look like someone that was ready to compete on the field yet.

I 2nd this.. let him sit out next week and hope for the best with Morris, and he should be better on the with another week of practice and confidence from tonite. Roll into a bowl game with Wilson and fine at 100% plus Morris is a solid backfield

I agree, however he had the field wide up and could have at least kept the clock running.

Agreed but again, why not just run the ball to end the 1st half but yet they gambled and it blew up in their face big time..

To be clear I don't hate Morris. I believed he could have stayed in bounds and made the first down. It's plays like that that can cost you a game if your not careful. We came back and won and I am elated! :)

No stupid flags and even more costly turn overs.. and at times very questionable play calling.. I would much rather have him go out of bounds then risk it like mason does at times

hell 68 players or not penalties and turnovers are to blame lately, good stops for Defense only to be pushed back onto field because of bone head choices

like clockwork a bone head penalty to get USM deeper into red zone

Biggest question I have is why did we not run the ball to end the 1st half.. us going 3 and our hurt..

Morris deserves a lot of credit tonight.

Yes he does, they had to somewhat respect the deep ball tonite which was refreshing to see.

Morris isn't the future. But he did all right tonight. I am glad he got that start and win on his senior night. I am sure that will be big for him when he looks back at his football career in a few years.

That said seeing one series of Quinn Shanbour would not have angered me.

Agreed with it being Nice Morris got a W to stick it to everyone on here that is a hater to him..

but that game was a lot closer than it shoulda been. Stupid turnovers that weren't Morris fault and the players not lining up correct was terrible.. more attention to detail is needed!

I did see somewhere were Mashell(The QB we went after from Belton) was trying to keep him committed, and also saw some stuff btw the TE we got from Belton and Corrales..

Possible bowl game courtesy of our APR ranking?  Seriously, has anything ever gone our way?

After the blow out by Portland State, we got rid of Mac...

which lead to SL and the eventual stepping down of RV, thus bringing us WB... I think those have gone our way.

LaTech will for sure want to go there if they win the CUSA championship.  If WKU wins and the B10 is able to fill that slot, they will more than likely want it also.

I hope C-USA and them are smart enough to pair up the power schools that could beat them because that should improve the payouts as well for the entire conference.

  9. 17 minutes ago, Cerebus said:

CUSA doesn't have a bowl slot order.  Champion picks the bowl they want to go to.  After that the conference and the bowl committees work together to send teams to the bowl that makes the most sense for them.

oh okay, well to the advantage of UNT is if we get to 6 wins, is that we will have barely any travel expenses going to the HOD, which C-USA should like alot

  10. 2 minutes ago, Cerebus said:

CUSA has to fill it's bowls first.  It will depend on who can get eligible.  Right now CUSA has 4 teams for 6 slots.  UTSA needs to beat Charlotte to get to 6, USM needs to beat either us or LaTech.

If both USM and UTSA get bowl eligible, then we would fill a slot in another conferences bowl lineup.  But lets says USM loses to us and LaTech, and then then UTSA loses to Charlotte, but Charlotte also loses to MTSU.  That would mean we only have 4 bowl eligible teams.   The conference will want to fill their requirements first so we would need to use the APR exemption in a CUSA bowl.

Do you know the order of the CUSA bowls by chance?

The spotlight on recruiting is much brighter with what is going on down in SA.  Our recruiting typically formulates later in the year but you have to tip your hat to them for what Wilson has put together thus far.

That said, if we can keep coach Ek in the fold I would feel a whole lot better about our prospects.

I do agree about that, but how much higher is UTSA if you take out their 4* recruit? The kid has switched multiple times and having legal trouble I believe... But UTSA has a few more boom or bust kids in terms of whether or not they can make it to signing day and play next year

WTF...guess we have excidently high expectation here at NT......

Why should we want to settle on 4 wins? 5 could get us into a bowl game, and 6 def will... I bet if Vito were to ask SL are you and your staff going to settle on 4 wins or try and win the last 2, SL would say he wants to win the last 2...

Expectations can change.. and should when you see results...

I Hope so Nike needs to hook us up with some new uniforms and they should make new black uniforms just saying

Not going to say the lack of UNI design has hurt us in recruiting, but it hasn't helped either.. Some schools like Oregon have UNI designs 3 or 4 years out planned already.. and we got the same 4 or 5 :(

Agreed, but what if we some how land a big time 3 star QB at the last minute? Chances slim but what if. If Augie is a walk on then that wont hurt our scholarship count.

Do we have all 25 scholarships for this year or is something lower?

I would think we have less than 25 because of blue-shirts, but I have no idea how many blue-shirts we ended up with.

WTH Is your obsession with QB's?  Change it to linemen who can block for a QB.  You & a couple others on this forum trash the one we have for whatever reason who the hell knows.   You have an agenda with someone else (a QB) you want SL to recruit or a relative on the team now?  Good grief, dude.

Everyone on here is a huge fan of Fine, and everyone here hopes that he can/will turn this program into something special. But we also, all of us should realize that if someone better comes along, then we should play that QB don't you agree? They did it with Morris..

QBs are just like Starting Pitchers in baseball, you can never had enough of them.. Look at Texas A&M, they lost 3 top QBs prospects in a matter of 2 years in Hill, Murray, and the kid that went to Houston. Just because we want/think the team needs to bring in more QBs doesn't mean we don't like or don't support Fine, its a #s game.. But today at practice they only had 3 healthy QBs to throw passes in Morris, Quinn, and Cason.. Bringing in more kids to play will lead to better competition, thus will lead to a QB coming out of it as well. Again all of us like and love Fine, but what is Pearson comes in and does what Fine did this year in the fall and Fine just average, who would you go with? Because in that sense, we would start with Fine and then Pull him at first chance and put int Pearson just like we did to Morris...

Also, we all do agree that they need to bring in better OL and they already have 2 OL Commited vs the 1 QB commited(Cade) and 1 PWO in Izzy... Also, last year they went out and got OL late in the recruiting process in Haynes, so we can still add these guys possibly as well.

The thing that separates the Fine QB performance from Greer or McNulty is that we know Littrell will open up the offense and Fine better be ready in the years ahead to make the throws down field. Under Metamucil McCarney, throws downfield beyond 3 yards were never going to be a big player for any QB.

I'm willing to bet you that Fine will get a lot better as the years progress--if only because the coaching staff will get better and the talent around him will be better equipped for the offense Littrell wants to implement.

Right now, our OL sucks big time and our receivers look like guys who were recruited to play in a 3 yards-and-a-cloud-of-dust offense. I believe, until shown otherwise, that Littrell and Company will improve all of this as we move forward.

That is how it should be with every QB... the problem is everyone is wanting to play him no matter what and that is understandable to get him ready for in the future, but right now we have a chance to go to a bowl game.. literally we had win 2 out of 5 games to get to  wins.. or 1 out of 5 to get to 5 wins.. 2 out of 5 shouldn't be not-do able let alone 1 for 5.. But this team has regressed in terms of stupid penalties, costly turnovers(Yes, Fine has added to this), lack of ball possession at times which has lead to the defense being exhausted at times, and the lack of the defense getting turn overs itself. The bowl game should be more important for us right now than next years bowl game.. we are 1 or 2 games away from this years, and 5 or 6 away from next years and who knows who all will be on that team. We should be focusing on going to a bowl game this year for Buyers and Scott and company... No more lets pack up shop and pray for 2017, pack it in and play for 2016.

I would understand playing fine if we didn't had a chance of getting to a bowl game, and I think everyone here wants Fine to be the kid that turns this program around because he is a very likable and honestly great kid for the program and UNT. But we all can admit he has been in a really bad rout, he got lucky vs. Army when he should have had multiple INTs, and then it has shown up in the past 3 weeks. Fine could just be worn out from the beating he has taken with this OLine, but he can also be faulted for holding the ball at times to much and also not sliding at times... Another mystery that we should be asking, is does Fine have the ability or grasp of the offense enough for him to change the play at the line of scrimmage because he has missed some very big blitzs at times. But again we have a chance to go to a bowl game, so if we really are playing for the future it should be playing to get into a bowl game.. that is added practice time and another reason for recruits to come to UNT.

  16. I would dislike for us to bring in more then 2 QBs.. and now we are sitting at 3 apparently with Cade committed, Izzy as the transfer and Auggie as a walk on apparently. I only dislike this because we need to bring in WRs and OLine as well and QBs can only play 1 spot on the field.. but right now an argument that I agree with, is bringing back as many QBs as possible. And hopefully you find one who clicks. So if that means we bringing in 4 or 5, I don't like it but if they've are talented and can produce more power to us.

I also think we need to be talking with these QBs that we are recruiting and bring in their top targets as well, as PWO or even on scholarship.. I think and people have agreed in the past, bringing in a player who the QB is comfortable with can help that QB develop.
