Arkansas (2-6) fired their Offensive Coord/QB coach last week.   Won @ Florida (5-3) today, with the same players, ending a 6-game losing streak and winning in Gainesville for the first time in 6 tries.  Change can be good.   It can inspire and make unusual things happen.

I’m not going to pretend I know enough about either of those programs to know if the interim OC at Arkansas had anything to do with that win today or what the talent level of the Arkansas players is.

  2. I don’t care what anyone in the AD said when Morris was hired or preseason. Most of that is just coach speak.

It’s very clear just by watching our games that the terrible defense from last year is a rebuild. It’s going to take getting the right players to make it better. We haven’t done that. For me that’s a result of the recruits the old staff brought in and the new staff not finding what they needed via the portal.

Offense was not a rebuild. It was a quarterback and playmaker or 2 away from being really good. The new staff addressed that with great success.

It’s also very evident that the AAC has some pretty terrible defenses across the board.

I mean, what other in-state Texas rivalry would really compare?  You're not wrong that OU will still be the biggest rivalry game of Texas' season, but A&M would have to be #2.  And UT would be A&M's #1.  It will be a big deal when that rivalry restarts.

    That’s fair

From 2024 onward, UT vs A$M will once again be Texas' best and fiercest rivalry.

Will it? Texas really only cares about OU and they’ve dominated A&M historically. The Texas fans I know haven’t really cared about the Aggies very much. It’s pretty one sided.

You're pretty poorly informed if you believe those schools face the same branding challenges that North Texas does.

I didn’t say they do. My point is just that even some of the “big boys” whose uniforms have seemed untouchable have felt the need to give a little on this aspect of recruiting.

  6. Always sign the best athlete. I don’t care if they’re high school, transfer, or didn’t touch a football until last week. I’m all in for anyone who makes this team better. If they make next year’s team better, I don’t care if they transfer at the end of next season. That’s just going to be part of life in today’s college football. You just have to have a pipeline ready to go so you have the next guy ready.

I read the big sticking point is UH put "Houston" on the jerseys. Apparently, using the color scheme AND "Houston" is enough for the NFL to consider it trademark infringement.

I hope UH challenges this and tells the NFL to go kick rocks.
