What a beat down that would be for your on campus recruiting staff. Any old Joe can come on an unofficial visit and they would all want their pictures taken in gear. Woof!

I wouldn’t put too much thought into these “attendance” numbers anyway. It’s not butts in seats they’re reporting.

I give him a B+. I think he discovered the talent level was worse than he thought given our success in a bad CUSA. I believe he and his staff will get that addressed through recruiting/portal moves this year.

I’ll take the Saturday national broadcast exposure over a 6p kick with less than 20k in the building any day.

Is the money players are given in the NIL taxed?
NIL money is taxable income.

The TXLEG passed a law requiring stadiums and athletic facilities to be split out into separate bond issues.
I didn’t say anything about them combining projects. My point is districts are prioritizing athletics bonds over other bonds more directly related to education.

What it all boils down to for me is that districts are asking voters to approve stadiums that are way fancier than they need to be instead of investing in things the districts need to actually improve education, and in today’s world safety, for students.

This is my biggest issue with all of it. Why does a high school need a “world class stadium?”

For college football, I expect the Big 10 and SEC to get bigger and the eventual structure to end up being similar to the NFL with divisions, conferences, and playoffs that reward division winners, conference winners and an eventual “Super Bowl.”
I also expect those conferences to formalize a system where players get paid directly by the institutions.
I don’t really expect the “rest of the G5” to be a part of this new model.

High school stadiums are out of control and ridiculous.

I personally know a player who went from G5 to P5 as a junior this season and is redshirting when he was hoping to play. Is he upset? Of course not. He got $40,000, lives in a high rise 5 minutes from campus with his brother who's on the team that's fully paid for, and just this past week got an additional $5,000 from NIL just for being on the team.
What school is he at?

Deion’s awesome! I’m glad he’s making the rounds in DFW and still involved in the program.

if a former "star" player here leaves and isn't contributing at a new school, isn't that more a poor reflection on the state of our program than the player himself?
I don’t think it is. If they were good enough when they left our program to make the roster at the new school, the reason they’re not contributing is on the player or the new coaches.

And miss out on playing? Seems like sort of a sell out in some ways but I do get that people need money to pay bills.
$150k/yr before I even went to start my career would have given me a pretty big head start financially. They’re still part of a team, get to practice, work out, network with alums, and have a shot to play… all with a nice little nest egg. Seems like a no brainer in the current system.

Honestly, if Sundays aren’t in their future, my recommendation to players would probably be to go get paid for Saturdays. A cash base before taking your first career job would be really helpful.

Lmao “cheap shot” is now asking why he’s not currently with Deion. I legitimately asked if hes not good enough for Deion now. Are yall related or something? Taking it personally for absolutely no reason
Yes, it’s a cheap shot. You’ve thrown out several things about him on this thread that you’re trying to play off as you just being curious or asking questions.

Lol you want the clown show too? And you’re of the nutty opinion that Deion would’ve considered UNT? He’d have laughed and hung up. Too small time for his giant ego
Also why did Coach O not go with Deion? Not good enough?
A clown show? They’ve sold out every game, brought a ton of national (and positive) exposure to CU, etc. CU is better off for having hired Deion. I tend to agree that he would not have come here, but to act like we are above what he’s done with that program is pretty ridiculous. What he’s done there is set that program up for success.
As far as your cheap shot on Coach O… I think that’s a garbage comment.

if you do take HS players you are just training for the big school to buy.
If you’re recruiting that caliber of athlete and training them up, your program will be winning lots of games in the American, despite transfers out.
I’ll also add, in reference to size of these athletes, with a good strength and nutrition program these guys can put on or take off a lot of weight between now and fall camp.
