  1. Thank you untjim1995, Aldo, & Harry for the info-was very helpful. Appreciate you taking the time/effort to help me understand. As I have said before, I am a new fan of UNT, and hopeful about the future of the football program. I'll be there Saturday--my first experience watching the team, and I hope to make some new friends. GMG!
  2. I probably shouldn't weigh in on this thread since I am so new. Some of you warned me--but what the heck, here goes. Please help me to understand the following: Who are the UNT 17 ? I understand they are major donors. But, why do they care to have 'access' to UNT's athletic programs, if the product on the field/court is so bad? It is not as though venues are sold out. What 'access' or privilege are they receiving? What is their personal connection to the AD? Next, is that RV quote accurate? I'm seriously asking that. Did he ever clarify or elaborate on it being taken out of context? Thanks in advance for bringing me up to speed.
  3. Yes, of course. Did not mean to disregard that portion of the post. Tough situation. Have been there myself.
  4. Wow--I agree. Don't know Brett, but see he has covered UNT for years. In watching the recent videos's, I do think it's strange for a D1 team not to have their interviews conducted in the UNT press room with appropriate back drop. Perception is reality. Details matter.
  5. Remember, some of the prospects haven't had a chance to step foot on the field ( outside of their official visit). Not saying they will be significantly better, but the coaches know there is no depth at that position. They may be young, and inexperienced, but have great hands at the JUCO or HS level. Not the best scenario, but as Coach Littrell says, " we will put the best players on the field." Hold tight guys.
  6. Thanks for the welcome, appreciate it. Hopefully, the fans will give the new scheme a chance, even though it will take some time to adjust. Although I admit it has been tough to read some of the comments/history- it's helpful to know. Thanks again. I can handle a few sh$t storms. I think I'm going to fit in just fine here. Robert Cray is on my regular playlist.
  7. Makes sense. I'll stay cautiously optimistic. I wondered about some of the early decisions, such as closing practice-which was later overturned. If UNT's fan base has waned, you'd think you'd try anything to reengage them with program and the new coaching staff. Build some hype--so to speak. The coaches have a lot of personality, and UNT should use that to its advantage. Lets hope the program can bring some excitement back to #newdenton.
  8. Thanks for the advice. Some of these threads aren't for the faint-hearted, that's for sure.
  9. You are correct-the BOR is appointed by the Governor, and the BOR hires the Chancellor. Based on the Regent's profiles, several have terms expiring in 2017.( One Regent's term expires next month, but the Governors appointment office is behind schedule so she probably won't roll off for a few more months.) So, unless the BOR fast tracks the hiring process, the new Chancellor may be selected by a board that looks much different than the existing one.
  10. No doubt, it will take some time to rebuild the football program. I believe this coaching staff can turn it around. Especially, after they have a full year to recruit the talent they need. They're young but they mean business. Hope you all will lend your support and show up on game day. I be the one in green. I really want to meet these infamous 17. Do I need to buy my way into the suites to do that?
  11. I am brand new to UNT athletics, and therefore, know nothing about the politics referred to in numerous posts. It is disheartening to read many of the comments. Not good information to hear for new fan.
  12. Shouldn't comment on the past, as I'm all about the future. But--if there were an exam administered, Fine would ace it. Vito's correct. Keep it simple.
