  1. Someone correct me if I'm wrong, but I believe we are down to one scholarship left, and this could be a good get. The tweet is a little misleading, though. The 20.6 PPG number is for the three national tournament games (10, 28, 24). His season average was 14.8, but he put up 25+ in five regular season games. He had some bad games but still shot 49% for the season from 3-point land. His FT percentage could be better for a guard (74.6).

Local product from Mesquite and Dallas College. Don't think it takes green Kool-Aid to say we'd be the best option, unless he wants to get away from Texas for a bit. Three of his interested programs are from the Dakotas.

If I recall correctly... We had terrible completing passes in the flats... Hard dose of reality after 2013

Huge disappointment after following the team from my little Central Texas town my senior year of high school. After years of mediocrity I was getting excited to see each W the Mean Green were taking until they #Hit6. Even though the Bulldogs ran up the score late, I was ecstatic getting to see my future school on linear TV keeping up with Georgia, 21-21. I was for sure they'd surprise an underwhelming Texas program to start off my student life.

But hey, at least we got to shalack SMU the next week. I think Nicholls was two weeks later, too. Don't get to see your team put up 77 very often.

Great post but I disagree, it seems to me like our ball handling is already improved significantly with the new signees.  I would love to have one more big shot blocker and rebounder.

I think with the latest two additions we are already bigger than we were last season. We lose Aaron, Robert, and two benchwarming bigs in Morgan and Dixon, but gain two bigs who played in all their respective team's games last year plus Vice who looks promising to me. So now I think you've got four bigs who will get minutes instead of three.

I would have liked to get someone who will be a clear #1 scorer, even if they came from the JUCO ranks. Someone who averaged 18+ per game. This year's transfers are higher scorers than last year's transfers like Noland, Walker, Buggs, and Allen, but none of them were the first option. Who's not going to be afraid to have the ball in their hands with the game on the line in the final minutes?

EDIT: With the end of softball season comes the look-ahead to the 2024-25 academic/athletic year. The 2024 football season will feature the first game of a (planned) home-and-home with Texas Tech on Saturday, September 14th in Lubbock.

If you're interested in joining our group, staying together with other Mean Green fans at the same hotel, and other weekend group activities, please fill out this interest form to help me out: https://forms.gle/TBUiDfBsrH5bQTT16

Group tickets will range from $27.50-$37.50 with no extra fees in the two sections (117/118) we're starting from and group tickets are already available for purchase. I just need at least 20 commitments to get the group discount.

Just a reminder of the type of "takeovers" we had on only 1-2 weeks notice earlier this year:

I'm still awaiting RFPs for hotel discounts, but wanted to go ahead and buy the initial group of 20 tickets needed to get the group discount within this week or next.

The red ($27.50) and gold ($37.50) areas are the only sections opened up to group sales. We're looking at 117 and 118 to start out with. Let me know if you're interested and would be willing to get your tickets now. Trying to do it early before the group gets too split up.

Tulsa fell apart with errors and lost 11-9 to WSU.

Yeah it seems Tulsa has blown a lot of leads this year. We have too but Tulsa's blown leads seemed bigger. Now FAU has to play after a week off against the home team who has scored 24 runs in 2 games. Barnard has hit like four homers lol.

  7. Things are going UNT's way so far. Obviously the two wins, but the bats are somewhat alive, 16 runs and only 3 off of 2 homers I believe. Hopefully we can catch Charlotte cold in a winner-take-all game tomorrow against a team we should have won 2 of 3 against last weekend.

Meanwhile, Tulsa doubling up the hometown WSU team, 8-4 in the 5th. Winner of that game plays FAU.

  8. After UAB swept us in the regular season, then proceeded to win more games we needed them to lose, and lose games we needed them to win, it's nice for ECU to put an end to their season.

Hopefully we can win our fourth straight against the Pirates tomorrow.

Thanks.  Again, I appreciate what you are doing and will be in for some tickets to that game for sure since I live out here in no man's land.

Absolutely! If you want to purchase with us let me know how many.

Back when I started doing the group outings with basketball, I didn't think I'd expand this to football because of the allotted tickets that benefitted UNT, but because of seat locations and higher prices I thought why the heck not.

Ultimately, I don't want to compete with what UNT is doing, I just want more green at the game.

For these road games at South Alabama, Texas Tech, and UTSA I've been prospecting through LinkedIn for people who live near those areas and have been having good conversations with getting those people out. The end goal is not only to increase engagement but also try to drum up interest in establishing more alumni chapters.

Love what you are doing, but would it be worth checking with our AD to see how they are doing tickets for this game?  Do they get credit or earn some revenue based off of what they sell?  Just curious.

I have checked with the AD a couple of months ago when basketball season was still in session. I was told they make a very slim margin on tickets. Plus like most opposing venues, the visiting team (and band) are given isolated sections in the corners. For Tech, they're giving our AD tickets in Sections 110 and 111, which is weird considering our team will be on the east sideline.

I think they don't want opposing colors to be on the TV side.

  12. Hopefully we can get another run-rule win against Memphis to get the bats going and hopefully we draw ECU in the second game who we swept in our first conference series of the year.

Gonna need that and career games out of Wagoner and Savage Friday/Saturday to have a chance.

  13. The bats have definitely been the biggest disappointment the past two years. The run support simply hasn't been there enough. Now, I'm still optimistic for the tournament. Last year we won three straight to make it to the title game. But that double bye would have been nice especially if we only have two reliable pitchers right now.

This was during our era.  Of course back then we had a very limited membership.  Talons has way more membership and much more money now, but that Scrap'em Eagles thing probably forgotten about after us - we tried to use it, but GMG was much more catchy..

Well it's coming back this year, baby! And that image specifically is going to find itself into a lot of opponents' tweet replies.

Be on the look out for changes to the schedule of games for this series.  The forecast for tomorrow and Sunday in Charlotte isn't conducive to outdoor activity.

  16. It all comes down to this. The softball ladies are a game behind FAU and Charlotte for first place in the conference. The Mean Green already own the tiebreaker 2-1 with FAU, so winning two of three in Charlotte this weekend would also be huge in that it would give the ladies the tiebreaker over both teams in case there is a three-way tie at 19-8. The biggest reason to try to take two of three in Charlotte is that second and third place in the conference is the difference between having to win just two games in two days to make it to the NCAA Tournament, or four games in four days.

We can't finish lower than third. Fourth place Tulsa is 3 games behind UNT, and we swept them earlier in the year. Tulsa plays at FAU this weekend.

Charlotte will be a tough out. Last year by way of playing one fewer conference game due to a rainout, they finished with one loss fewer than UNT and won the regular season title. However, we took two of three at home to the 49ers before beating them again in the conference tournament. They still made it to the NCAA Tournament as an at-large.

This year, Charlotte has taken 2 of 3 at USF and vs. Wichita State while sweeping the likes of UAB and Tulsa, and are on an 11-game win streak overall.

Standings going into the final weekend. The conference tournament is May 8-11 in Wichita. If we make it to the final on Saturday at 11 am, be prepared to drop everything and head up to Kansas to support!
