  1. This year is WAY worse in my opinion.  The Clemson game was close with a couple of minutes left before halftime.  We scored with a couple of minutes left, but drew an excessive celebration penalty that was a total joke.  Because of the penalty, Clemson was able to drive down and score to make it 21-7 at the half.  The aforementioned penalty is possibly the worst I've ever seen called.  If memory serves correctly, we were down to our 3rd string QB by midway through the Army game.  Again, this year is WAY worse.

  2. Trust me, it's a lot hotter than most think. Understandably, most of our fans are basing their opinions on how things used to be at UNT, but things have changed since Apogee was built and President Smatresk arrived. If we go 0-12 or 1-11, Mac won't be around next year.

How about 2-10???  I think that's the ceiling this year.

  3. Sadly, I thought McNulty played one of his best games.

Typical UNT:  Defense holds and we try to field a rolling punt with a defender within 2 yards of us.  Then...fumble inside the 10 yard line when we could have scored to take a 17-14 lead.  Then...allow Rice to drive the length of the field to kick a field goal on the last play of the half.  I'm as big of a McNulty hater as the next guy, but he didn't play a part in any of these scenarios.

  4. there would be consequences. The offenders would be out for the season, vilified nationally, and a rightfully so embarrassment to their families.

IF the referee was not hurt, what more do you want done?

The punishment needs to fit the crime here.

For all we know they may be being praised by their families, teammates, and classmates for standing up for their team, etc.  You would hope not, but you never know.

I do agree that the punishment should be severe, but left out of the criminal justice system.

  5. Cool collection! I like it.

I must say that part of the image problem for UNT is that the last 8 helmets encompass roughly 20 years. Different colors, different designs...no stability whatsoever. Hopefully the SOW is here to stay for a while.

  6. agree with Ben Gooding...as much as some on here may want to stick their head in the sand and say that uniforms are not a small factor in recruiting...they're wrong.

The proof is in the P5 college numbers.

When traditional powerhouse colleges like Michigan, Notre Dame & Oklahoma have an "alternate" uniform...admittedly for recruiting...then it's a factor.

Out the 65 P5 colleges...all but 4...Alabama, Southern California, Penn State & Texas have had an alternate uniform.(*in the 2014 season...USC had chrome facemask for some games & Texas had a metallic longhorn the last 4 or 5 games of 2014).

Plus part of these traditional schools draw "is" their "traditional" uniforms. What kid would not be excited to put on a storied uniform and play top tier football for a Notre Dame, Ohio State, USC, Texas or Alabama, etc. Reality is a majority of the D1 programs are not these elite 15 programs. The point is...whether it's traditional, an alternate or both...uniforms are a part of the equation.

hands down...I personally prefer Oklahoma & Notre Dame's traditional & boring uniforms over their alternates or Oregon's metal feathers or Maryland's "Medieval Times" uniforms.

as far as alternates...who cares...if your school has the budget for an alternate...do it.

It's fun for a game or two...most of the students, athletes & the fans like it.

I agree with you. I bolded the part about recruiting because I never said it wasn't a small part of the equation. I just happen to believe it's a very small part where some people come across as believing its a major part of recruiting.

I don't really mind alternate uniforms per se, I just don't like the crazy, over the top stuff. Thankfully we haven't gone there yet and hopefully we won't. Alternate can be cool without being tricked up and I think our black helmets/uniforms are proof of that.
