These dumb kids don’t even know what they are missing. College basketball is so fun, especially as a student. You do know classes don’t start until the 16th meaning many student are not back on campus yet. Wait until next Saturday I would imagine our student turnout is better, and the following home game will be jumping.
we need to keep middle 4 sections reserved seating and open the rest of the pit up as general admission… fill in lower bowl before allowed upper bowl to be sat in. Would add so much to dynamic.. like @TheReal_jayD said it would be like putting our football team in cotton bowl every home game and expecting it to be loud. Even with the dang HOD bowl win the place looked empty aside from behind our sideline

Again, thanks for the update. So, is this a result of the coaches at SOC giving him this advice?
Could be combination of that, or people in his ears. The fact is every P5 in the country that visits DFW goes to SOC every time they fly in. Same could be said for the other power players on that side of 20.

Thanks. Guess 247 lost interest. I stand corrected.
Well you probably aren't wrong in your assessment as Butler is a JUCO

Update: Did not sign his NLI with LA-Mo. That points to a grades issue. When will these kids learn to take care of the classroom first.
I think that was a decision to see if bigger schools would come back in January. Just like last years LB who got Florida State late. Grades typically aren't an issue for SOC kids, those coaches do a really good job with that.

The concession stands still can’t break a twenty.
And why is the food and drink selection so varied at DATCU and so limited at the Coliseum ?
I'd guess that on a bad day DATCU has 12,000 and a good day 20,000+ and on a bad day at Coliseum there might be 1,000 and a good day 4,000? Don't get me wrong I'd love a bigger selection but the reality is that isn't going to happen.

Do you mean the Instagram post quoted above where he said “Let’s run it!”
or did you mean on Twitter from the account that has “obvious parody account” that talked about sucking Florida tiddies?
Lots of beverages consumed over the previous week, definitely didn't check the account just saw the tweet and laughed

Who is that?
I believe it is the Braswell OL signee. He is a very big framed kid, with long arms and I think they're wanting to get bigger inside on the DL. I believe this to be a project but they always say you can't coach size.

Your math is excellent.
technically 5 but one signed as OL, they're projecting into DL room.

He is supposed to come by my house today to hang out with my son. I will try and see if I can get an idea of what he is thinking. With the RBs that we picked up, I am not sure if it is as much of need as before.
To my knowledge they aren’t taking anymore RBs but I’ve been wrong before

Don’t misunderstand my post. I love him and his game. He just needs to be a little more selfish on the offensive end.
Agreed but I think they’re so engrained in finding the BEST shot that sometimes they pass up opportunities to put the ball in the basket

I was with you on Scott the first couple of games. Now he is back to his 8 - 10 points a game, hustle like crazy and grab rebounds.
He will get back going, he needs to remain a slashing, Bell type player slash cut catch the ball near the paint finish in paint and knock down the 3's when he's open and its kicked to him

It's going to be harder and harder for programs like ours (and the rest of the G5 for that matter) to survive on the football side of things. In this age, our path to success will mean hitting on most if not all our transfers. They need to come in as starters or be on the 2-deep with considerable playing time. High school recruiting will need to focus on players ready to play as freshmen. We cannot sustain the expense of developing players in a large redshirt season class year after year.
What makes you say this? I believe what Morris is doing is brilliant. It may cost him his job but if he can hold on long enough 1 maybe 2 more years he will have talent he would not ever be able to have at UNT playing for UNT. There are HS Kids we signed in my rough guestimation, close to 3/4 of this HS class that Pre-portal we could not land because 1/2 P5's would have come in late when they didn't get their guy and offer and steal the young man from us. Now, those same schools are just hammering the portal, making a bunch of these young men available and you have to fight off equal competition (other AAC or CUSA schools). I also really like it because Morris said something and is standing behind it right or wrong, we *itch and complain about kids not staying at UNT or Flipping commits etc etc. Morris said when he got hired he was going to recruit TX HS talent and he's doing it. I believe adding 10-12 portal guys is smart because he can address a few areas of need OL, QB, and the back end maybe a DL or 2. While adding elite talent from the HS level.

I tend to ignore the class ranking since class size influences it. We are signing a big class, so lots of points. We only had 14 last year, so fewer points.
I prefer to look at average rating of the recruits. At 84.14, we are around 8th in the conference. Hardly overwhelming.
For comparison, last year was 84.17.The bottom four guys on the list had no other FBS offers.
Neither did Landon Sides he turned out to be just fine. This staff can identify and recruit offensive talent....its the other side of the ball that concerns me the most.

Why wouldn’t Edwards be the next point guard? Who says Ruben leaves? He and Scott can come back for one more run next season.
Because Edwards isnt a PG...he's a shooting guard that wants to score 20 every night. Need a PG who can handle the ball and pressure and Moore is the next best ball handler we have. Everyone else who "Dribbles the ball up the court" isn't a PG just because they dribble the ball up the court. I am talking about a guy who can tell everyone to get out of the way and can handle the ball on their own. Not someone who keeps their man on their hip and takes 13 seconds to get the offense initiated. I would be shocked if Jones, and Scott are back the fact is they're going to have some $$ amounts thrown their way that will be unbelievable. Hell Scott had 150,000 offered last year alone and he's greatly improved his game IMO as far as being able to catch and shoot 3's

For sure. Definitely have that outlook with Noland and Buggs. If those two can improve their play similarly to how Kai did last year then we’ll be really dangerous.
I can help both of them... drive the dang ball to the hoop see it go in a few times, buggs take the wide open 3's you get off dribble penetration from a team mate and lets do the dang thing! I was pleased with Jones, and Walker with how aggressive they were to the basket yesterday. Every guard should be following suit. I also enjoyed Aaron Scott finally getting back to being aggressive and looking to get his shot off the bounce.
This team should push every team we play in conference IMO. The determining factors in how long we can stay in the competition will depend on 1. Rueben and the bigs staying out of foul trouble 2. How well we share the basketball offensively.
I think when those things happen we are a tough out, because lets face it the defense hasn't even taken a step sideways I think they've progressed we are longer and more athletic. I would really like to see Moore used instead of Noland bringing the ball up the court when Jones comes out. Noland will struggle in conference play when Jones has to get a break. Moore must be behind defensively that is the only thing I can think of that is keeping him off the court. I would assume if you are Hodge you have to know Jones is gone after this year so get the young guy some minutes in non conference and see if he can earn more or if he isn't ready you know by conference play. That is my last head scratcher for this ball club. He really is the next PG but doesn't play much.

Every season there are a two or three games that really have the ability to pivot your season one way or the other. IMHO, this is one of those. Get a W and we may be able to get this campaign straightened out in the way we want. Should we lose, I'll be concerned about our ability to get our heads on right for the league slate.
So far a good pivot! Walker is an elite on ball defender. I’m not sure in all my years watching UNT we’ve had a better one. I’m fairly young but been watching since I started school in 2009

I somewhat agree with this as it pertains to the run game, guys weren't executing tackles. I do have an issue with the 3 man as it pertains to containment of mobile quarterbacks. Too many times this past season I watched an end get pressure only for a mobile QB to escape and there be nobody to finish off the play. In other words, a "coverage sack" doesn't seem to exist with a 3 man front. What's the solution to that? Is it linebackers doing a better job of jumping into the backfield when they see the opposing QB is scrambling? Or should we expect to see more pass blitzing from the DB position now that we have more size and athleticism at that position?
Yes, I hope to see the same addressed. We seemed to drop 8 a lot and LBs running to places on field where no WR was within 10/15 yards I’d like to see guys when they turn to their zone with nothing threatening eyes back on QB for help with scramble drill. The other option which is prob better imo is to bring an extra person via pressure from any level Corner, Safety, or LB that’s what makes 3-3-5 so tough is pressure can come from anywhere on the field with multiple coverages matched behind those blitzes

I’m curious to know if they feel confident in the dline as it is.
I don’t see many offers going out. Maybe they’re waiting for the spring portal? Maybe they feel good about the development of the current guys paired with the incoming freshmen? I guess we’ll find out soon enough.
I think we need at least one more JUCO/TP Dlineman, but I’m just a fan.
Defensively the DL wasn’t as big of an issue as everyone is making it out to be, linebackers and safeties have responsibilities in run game and they did a poor job of filling those roles. Only time I had a problem with 3 down was when teams got in 12 personnel and lined up in double tight and we had 3 guys on LOS and they had 7… I’m not the smartest guy but that allows all 3 DL to be double teamed with an extra to leave for a backer.
I could see them grabbing one more DL if a GameChanger becomes available.

I’m not a fan of how Tulane carried themselves today… especially the horse*}%# foul to foul out 25 I believe that one pissed me off. They all played tremendously well. It was obvious we were hurting without Rueben to handle the pressure but let’s get him healthy and rock and roll
