  1. Not really back to square one after this coming season since D' Smith will have another year of eligibility and I think this kid is good, then Conner Means is in charge and I KNOW Means has really good stuff. I use to watch Cotton Davidson ( The Rifleman) , the first Dallas Texan (AFL) QB play with our own Abner Haynes (Little Abner) and the Cowboys first QB Eddie LaBarron, in the Cotton Bowl. Home of our HOD Championship in 2014. I know QB impact. This QB lineup has the potential quality for the next three years to be effective in conference competition. BUT it takes a whole team O's and D's to make it work. Mac needs solid performence from his OC and DC and ST, At this point I think we have a shot.

  2. Harry, as a solid Mean Green friend, how do we do a friendly approach to President Smatresk for an honest answer? I know he is in deep in managing UNT operations, but I and many friends and family love Mean Green football and basketball (please get here baseball). I can call him, but is that the best way to go/support? I'll just get a politically correct answer. Unless I offer more money beyond what I give now. None the less, I have found that individuals that make direct telephone calls to leadership in Austin DO MAKE A DIFFERENCE. Oh well, Go Mean Green.

  3. Fry left before he had to make any changes as I recall. But, when Hayden looked at you in the eyes, as he did me, and said "we are going to win"...we won ! I know, I know... But it happened. I have some Odus Mitchell and Rod Rust memories too, but that's just old timer history.I am all for Coach Mac, love that Irish fighting spirit, and would love to see Benford get a winning season but don't know.. Go Mean Green !!!!

  4. In UNT Coach Bill Blakeley's days (70s) I remember when the Super Pit was FULL, not a third filled at best like today. I remember when we went to Dallas and beat smu and brought a full house of fans to the game ! smu was pissed. I remember Stan Blackman and Scooter , fantastic hard driven players. Why can't we get out of this slow moving ,mortifying, period. I know everyone is working hard, but history tells us that it CAN HAPPEN AT UNT. It isn't happening now. UNT has all the economic and infrastructure attributes to be able to dominate north Texas regional athletics. We get a RIGHT FORMULA for a couple of seasons and then plunge off the map for years. I have been to Austin , talked with the Governor on UNT and non UNT business, know our state reps, BUT ... I can't get it done by my self. Get busy guys! REALLY ! They listen to their constituency. SUPPORT UNT , pick up your phone or e mail , show some fan-constituent support !!!

I'm getting old. HELP!!! Love my UNT.

  5. OK OK, I give in. Losing really sucks. Football and basketball and we don't have my beloved baseball yet. Would somebody please tell the BOR, President, and Administration that as one of many thousands of UNT grads we have checkbooks but need to see some commitment to WINNING ! Give us more than one winning season in years and years and years and we'll pay back.

  6. Just wondering who is responsible for the condition of South Bonnie Brae outside of Apogee? It's too narrow, totally degraded and the drainage ditch that runs along side of it is just begging to have a car wheel fall into it. Is it the city, the state or UNT? Don't get me wrong, if it has to come out of the athletic budget, then forget about it. I'd rather save the money for the baseball team. However every time we go to the games at Apogee or make trips to the athletic complex, I groan about that narrow, run down street.

  7. It's very frustrating to see our recruit pool get poached, Texas Tech seems to be pretty bad about doing that. But I'm not clear or sure that an early signing date would really change that. Schools in bigger conferences with more money are going to flip other school's recruits whenever they want to. Seeing a player flip at the last minute must drive a hard working recruiting staff crazy. Seems like an unethical fact of life no matter when the signing date is.
