  1. Well thank God for that game plan. It made defending them a whole lot easier. In watching them in the BYU and East Carolina games I felt that Kilgore had enough athleticism to make plays with his feet against us. I thought he was just as mobile as Montana. For MTSU Apogee is a place of horrors.
  2. I don't really think Montana gives them the best shot to win. I'd roll with the other guy he put up over 250 through the air. Tulane couldn't run the ball and still beat one of the best teams in the conference. Which is their staple. Ya, no way I'm going back to Montana. I would take McNulty over Montana. He just isn't a good QB.
  3. I retract my thoughts from last week. UNT can run the ball, just not on the road. UNT is averaging 240 yards on the ground in the friendly confines of Apogee. Speaking of Apogee if you were in attendance on Saturday night give yourself a pat on the back that atmosphere was the best it has been this season. There is no doubt in my mind that the UNT players really react to that type of atmosphere. Let’s hope that the next home game is louder and the atmosphere is more electric. As far as I’m concerned when MTSU took Kilgore out and decided Grammer was the guy that was the end of the game. Sure Grammer could make a few plays with his feet, but he is nowhere near the thrower that Kilgore is. MTSU fans have plenty to complain about after this game, that was just poor coaching. They literally just took their game plan and ripped it up halfway through the 1st quarter. You could tell that they never could recover. 5. Appreciate all the guys and gals who stopped by and read the break down today.
  6. Just throwing this out there, but I don't think MTSU is going to stack the box against us. 1. They don't have to, I think they can stop our run game with out it. Their LB's get down hill in a hurry 2. I think they will be more concerned with not allowing the big play. Their DB's play off just like ours

  8. Throwing the ball vertically against these guys is not a wise choice just saying.
  9. I'm not so sure we had "sure things" this year beyond Chancellor. Well thinking about it we have guys who "can" make plays but I would consider them to be average players. What we lack are difference makers & game changers. No body beside chancellor can really flip the field. Jimmerson has the ability, but is in a soph slump. I could go into a long post about this topic describing what I think. I'd love to see a guy like Kindsy get more touches in space. I just sense him being dynamic. What happened to Carl Crawford? Okay I'm stopping now.
  10. I guess I'm being a homer here, but I'd say our facility has more potential. It's realistic to think us having 25+ each game and actually having a home field advantage. It's going to be hard for them to come close to filling that. Playmakers for next year is yet to be determined. I could name a few that I see stepping up: Kidsy Harris Pegram Dajon Jimmerson And one or two guys who haven't played yet. Plus incoming recruits. Lots of time to discuss that.
  11. Nope. The question was who was having the most success out of the non BCS schools. Their answers were Rice, La Tech, and Tulane. The only reason Id go to Tulane is to be in Nola and not for the gameday atmosphere. Unless you like playing in front of 200 people
  12. Rivals.com recruiting analysts Jason Howell and Rob Cassidy address mail and Twitter questions from readers regarding the Midlands Region in their weekly mailbag. Austin Walter is a steal for Rice. There are some impressive classes out there on the non-BCS level, and there are a few that jump to mind. Rice has strung together nice talent. Running back Austin Walter out of Crosby (Texas) is an absolute steal for the Owls. His twin brother, Aston Walter, is a strong performer as well. Throw in San Antonio East Central quarterback Jeremy Jones and guys such as Destri White, Samuel Stewart and James Mayden, and you have the makings of a strong class. The Owls have put together a good one. Tulane's class is pretty salty. New Orleans (La.) St. Augustine defensive end Peter Woullard is a tough guy with a great motor. Destrehan (La.) linebacker RaeJuan Marbley also has a nasty streak on the defensive side of the ball. Tight end Kendall Ardoin is a long, athletic prospect who is going to be a matchup issue, and Leondre James is a threat at receiver. Louisiana Tech is doing good things on the recruiting front with guys such as Jaylon Ferguson, Brodrick Jefferson, Marlon Watts and Howard Wilson in the fold. Louisiana-Lafayette has quality pickups with Anthony Jones, Jaevon Walton, Shareef White, Genard Avery and Adrian Goodacre. Those are a few, but Rice is the top from the Midlands Region. http://footballrecruiting.rivals.com/content.asp?CID=1558746
  13. Final Thoughts: Another Winnable Road Game = Another Disappointing LOSS After watching the Tulane debacle I couldn’t help but wonder to myself when exactly are the Mean Green going to come away with a road victory? They just gave that game away like they were some sort of charity. I sat in reflection all weekend long wondering how I would put down my thoughts on this game. Should I be really critical? Should I remain positive? Should I try and offer moral support? Well I think the time has come to be critical and very critical. Why, because what happened on Saturday was not simply good enough. It was not good enough for the fans, the university, the alumni, the students, the players, or the coaches. It was a complete disgrace to us all. North Texas is better than that, 10 times better than that. Let me just say that UNT just lost to one of the worst offensive teams I have ever watched. North Texas is 14 points better than Tulane and they somehow managed to give that back in only a way that UNT could. You can’t simply expect to go on the road and hope to win on talent alone. We don’t have enough talent to win on talent alone. You have to execute and out coach your opponents. That is something that UNT has shown it can’t do. Sure they play hard and never give up. They know how to take a body blow just like Rocky would, and they know how to fight back, but they don’t know how to land the knockout punch. UNT has a lot to figure out this week and it starts with looking themselves in the mirror and asking if they are really up to the task of turning this program around. 15. You think the NCAA will reward a RS to a kid who isn't hurt and plays for UNT. You must be outside your mind!
  16. They already burned his red shirt. He played.
  17. Had that strategy all game. Here you have a QB who is not accurate down the field and doesn't have a strong arm, but you chose to let him dink & dunk all game long. Horrible. The game plan should have been pretty easy to come up with. We have a knack if making things easy for our opponents.
  18. Hard to be explosive if you can't get a run game going. I don't know about you, but I'd have a hard time calling plays with one hand tied behind my back. Last year we couldn't pass now we can't run.
  19. I think a lot has to do with the QB not being able to get him the ball. If you look at the numbers they are targeting him a bunch, but Montana just cant get him the ball.
  20. Grant is good no doubt, but beyond that I felt like UNT had more depth and play making ability. Part of their problem is the QB not getting them the ball. Harris Chancellor and Smith will make more plays in this game then their group. It's not a huge advantage but it's one that I feel like was there after watching their game.
  21. Also I didn't mention this in the breakdown, but I wouldn't be surprised if they give us a more of nickel look on early downs and then go 3-3-5 for passing downs. Its all going to depend on UNT's ability to run the ball. When they do get in that nickel they are less likely to blitz.
  22. Its my bad when I was looking at their depth chart it was a post spring one where he was listed at 213 lol.
  23. Nope your right I don't what happened there it should have been 313
  24. Yes the 3-3-5 was the base set that I saw against ULM. They are small, but play fast. I was just shocked at how ULM just sat in 4 and 5 wide sets and didn't try to run at all. Even when they saw a big blitz coming there were no hot routes or changes in protection. ULM just let guys run right past them. If our big guys get engaged on their front seven it's going to be wide open lanes. With such an aggressive defense don't be shocked to see UNT gash them on big plays. Tulane is almost got the mind set that sooner or later your going to make a mistake against us. A great QB would torch this team.
  25. We are North Texas, not many people other than a coach or player are going to watch us. So they don't know until till one of our guys smacks one of theirs. Then its like oh my these guys can play. You have to throw out our yards giving up in my opinion. Look at the QB's that we have played so far this year: Idaho Chad Chalich - 1111 yards 4 TD's 0 Ints Ohio Tyler Tettleton - 858 yards 6 TD's 2 Ints Ball St. Keith Wenning - 1650 yards 9 TD's 3 Ints Georgia Aaron Murray - 1338 yards 11 TD's 3 Ints Two of these guys are going to play in the pro's. We have faced some pretty good offenses. So to just come out and say that our defense is a weakness is just not understanding the situation. Numbers tell one part of the story, but the film don't lie bro. You could very well point to our record and say that we are where we are because our defense has played well. Have they been perfect, no. They are though a lot better than the outside media gives us credit for.
