Thank you. Great read. Really like Coach Morris.
Absolutely! Honest and flexible. Obviously knows his Xs and Os. Hold him accountable for sure but give the man time. To tell the truth he seems to crave accountability. This could truly turn into a great relationship.

Yep that was the year before he got there. He was fortunate enough to go to three Cotton Bowls in four years. Most likely the greatest Cougar years to date. Couldn’t have been more fortunate to be a part of those teams. The Houston fandom of my youth has no doubt carried over to my Eagledom. So many parallels but the SWC has a lot to do with it. We can talk about our 80s choices but now is now. I’m doing my best to give where I can and will continue to do so. Met my wife at NT and it’s my place now. I just want my family to have Saturdays we can enjoy and be proud of. Our cloth is an important one.

0-11 courtesy of now UTEP head coach Dana Dimel
Yes indeed. It was a frustrating time growing up a Coog. I was in HS. We were season ticket holders then. My dad was on those mid 70s teams. I loved plenty of those players 2001. Joffrey Reynolds, Orlando Iglesias, Brandon Middleton, Key Bell, Stanford Route, Rex Hadnot. I’m sure I’m forgetting some that I loved to watch. Plenty of electric receivers, just a lazy offensive scheme with slow quarterbacks and bad discipline. Beating Louisville to end the next season was almost as satisfying as seeing Dimel go. Now it’s probably time to see another Dana go, as much as I hate that it hasn’t worked out.

With our win last week, we avoided a winless season, have we ever had one? I checked sports reference, which confirms this, but it only goes back to 1953
Just with a little research, Texas A&M, SMU, TCU, and Baylor look like our Texas brethren that have suffered this distinction.
Houston went winless in 2001

Super cool of Eric to call in. We’ve still got a ways to go but he is family and he’s doing the right things. I love that guy!

Going by this HSO, we should have about 500 people at the next game.
Well, by going to the games you're financially supporting. But I dont think @Collin1unt is particularly wrong if he means an actual donor. We need more money. It doesnt have to be much, but please, please give what you can. We need it so badly. I don't think it's an elitist thing to say support your school financially. Buy tickets, join the MGSF (even if it's just $250 or $25), join the NTAA....I think the point is that your greenbacks are the same as your vote. Words are words but money actually talks. We are all in different situations financially, but literal buy in does actually matter.

Yeah Coach O, keep running your mouth to the people you're accountable to that you don't want them to hurt your feelings. Feels like the same as "respect my decision". I'm still all in on Eric getting his fair shake and I truly do like him. But we will hold you accountable. Period.

Yes but looking at things positively, those issues can be fixed. Tackling doesn't require a complete scheme adjustment or guys not understanding their role. It's about execution.
Totally agree with you. I actually did the same thing you did this evening in watching the first half. We are definitely a small front defensively and that part can’t be fixed immediately but they really were flying around and reading plays well. Just wrap up and finish the play and be disciplined enough not to overrun the play. I thought Earle mostly looked great in the first half until he started pressing a little bit after the run game started really failing. Our OLine development has got to happen fast. Our secondary and linebackers need to fill a lot better. But you’re right overall that so much of this was execution rather than scheme. Many will say that’s still on Eric and staff and they wouldn’t be wrong, but you make adjustments based on the things you observe and they have a chance to do that now. I was really enjoying my Saturday at DATCU until I wasn’t and then I got pretty pissed off when it felt like the team lost its fight. But I certainly felt better about it after actually sitting down to watch. We are so deep at skill positions on offense and Stone can really make the throws. Now let’s play some defense and block. I think we will have a chance.

If our guys make their tackles against Cal, the game is very different. The coaches weren't out-schemed, the players didn't execute. I recorded the game and watched the first half today. The amount of times our guys had their RBs at or behind the LOS and just missed or didn't wrap up resulting in a huge gain is insane. Same with offense not seeing open receivers and going down on arm tackles. The mistakes can be corrected.
Eg, their very first play from the LOS. Had him pinned and whiffed.

The poor tackling was the feature of the night for me. Just soft as hell.

And this hiring of Coach Norris was all a terrible mistake?
I understand the emotions. First, I love Seth. He was a solid dude and I’ll respect him forever. But yes he was just able to get us to be average. I think Eric is more relatable and refreshing and to be honest I think he has a lot of growth ahead of him that Seth didn’t have. Eric isn’t an idiot. He knows this was a dogshit start. I’m mad and we’re all mad. But we have a deal we have to dig out of that we’ve been trying to dig out of for 50 years. It’s a culture thing. As upset as I am about this start I do still trust Eric to change the fundamental part of our problem. He can do this. We shouldn’t be easy on him but he can do this. Onto FIU.

Good on you guys!!! That’s some good Eagle Spirit from you and certainly goes a long way I’m sure with many concerned over taking away from football. Enough acts from all of us like that add up to make the future bright.

It’s great. Usually live music and a good setup. Much easier if you don’t have the time to throw your own tailgate.

I’m 104 so I have no info to offer you about 208 other than a congratulations and a thank you! #GMG
However, general stuff, the Blue lot parking pass is totally worth it. Seat backs aren’t all that comfortable so I forego and occasionally bring my own if it’s rainy. Don’t let any ladies who join you forget about the clear bag policy. Get there before kickoff and be loud!

New Helmet Logo
in Mean Green Football
Posted
The Kelly Green is much prettier. I agree that we need to find a better, more identifiable helmet. I really do believe a small SOW would work but it’s awkward with the way today’s helmets are shaped. I love the worm and the interlocked NT and it’d be cool to see either worked in with our modern helmets. I’m also psyched to see the strutting Eagle. We’ve been through several iterations and I honestly love them all and wouldn’t mind seeing any old logo on the helmet but worked into the modern design.
