  1. I probably just got caught off gaurd by the number of people bashing his decision making not being that of an experienced HC and insinuating his decision to go with McNulty was based on his relationship with McNulty's dad even though we were all told coming out of fall camp that McNulty had shown enough to make the backup QB spot essentially a tie if not slightly in McNulty's favor. However, there are plenty of folks on the board who did not immediately bash him so I shouldn't have added the last part to my post.

Switching to an unrelated topic, I have been wondering about having a mic for the reporters as well. There are so few people asking questions I'm sure it wouldn't be too hard. Although it's kinda interesting trying to figure out what question was asked based on the answer given.

  2. Our alleged second team QB should have been given an opportunity to show what he has got, but we still don't really know how good he is because he has barely been allowed to play.

Yes we have. Did you already forget? He lead the team down the field against Alabama, one of the best defenses in the nation, put the team in scoring position only to be pulled in favor of Mcnulty. We got Zero points.

Something here just doesn't make sense.

Osborn has been given ample opportunity to prove himself in practice. Leading a drive late in the game against the reserves of one of the best defenses in the country when they have a big lead is not impressive.

  3. A lot of people are mad because McNulty played ahead of Osborn when WE haven't seen what Osborn can do. Frankly I don't care what WE have seen. Obviously the COACHES have seen enough from McNulty and Osborn to make the decision to go with McNulty. People are acting like nobody has ever seen Osborn play when the coaches have actually been evaluating him for a while. I have enough faith in this coaching staff making decisions based on their evaluations that I don't need him to play so that I can "see what he can do". I am not an experienced D-1 college head coach and I'm pretty sure nobody else on this board is so why should we feel entitled to see what Osborn can do?

  4. Some people feel that certain drugs should be legalized! I guess Carey is the the only kid in America doing drugs. (if true)

Cam Newton's camp was on payroll and kept playing! This is a perennial bottom ten program. Build the program first before cleaning it up. It's not morally right but it's right out of building a program 101.

There are people out there who feel a lot things should be legalized. That doesn't make it ok to do those things. And it doesn't matter if every kid in America is doing drugs. Carey didn't even have to quit, he just had to pass one drug test, or at least figure out a way to cheat to pass one. He was given multiple chances an couldn't do it. Even if we're going by whatever morally absent "building a program 101" you are referring to, then fact that someone can't even figure out how to cheat to pass one drug test or quit for a week to pass one makes them a person who I don't want in the program.

  5. We've never had back to back games that involved Houston and Indiana either. Think that coupled with the opening of a new stadium might have something to do with it?

I agree that those things factored in to the attendance. However, wouldn't you say that McCarney getting out and selling the program, meeting with all incoming freshmen, and us having a new head coach who is a legit D-1 head coach had a positive effect on the attendance rather than "killing" it?

  6. well, I'm grading you Dan Mac and it isn't so good...your evaluation of a qb leaves something to be desired...you have lost all but one game and almost lost that in the 4th qtr....two losses had no offensive points...your killing attendance and in my opinion, this was a winable game...especially with Brent as the QB. So, whats the problem?

I didn't realize breaking the school record for back to back attendance is considered "killing attendance"

  7. I realize we aren't even at the halfway mark of the season and all these guys return (along with Cooper Jones) next year. Finding a bonafide D1 QB has to be a high priority, right?

I'm frustrated that we change coaches every 4-5 years. These guys come in with every intention of taking the whole time to build the program. We are up to about 10 HS commitments and none of them blows me away.

I appreciate the coach coming in and trying to build character but what did Darius Carey do to kick him off the team? We are paying these guys twice as much and getting the same results. Mr. MacCarney, I continue to hear you say that you guys know what you are doing and will turn the program around. You've never said when!

I for one am glad McCarney doesn't put up with guys repeatedly failing drug tests after being given plenty of chances to pass one.

  8. I hate to say it, but I don't think we'll ever average over 26,000 until we get into a better conference. On the fence fans just don't care about the Sun Belt.

And if we lose to Tulsa the attendance for FAU will probably be around 18,000. It won't help if the Rangers make the ALCS with game one being Oct. 8.

I think the students are less apathetic than the students during the Dickey years. If we start winning even in the Sun Belt I believe we can average over 26k.

  9. I personally don't mind not being able to buy an actual authentic Nike jersey. But I would love a bigger hat and t-shirt selection from Nike. Maybe I'm in the minority but I prefer jerseys for my pro teams and t-shirts for my college.

It would also be a humble brag to talk about takling Cyrus Gray in high school... or holding on to his leg until reinforcements arrived.

  10. Question: When IU got the "pick 6" in the early going of the 3rd quarter, SUMG and I were wondering why the hell we threw the ball in the first place! We were on our own 31 yard line. That was just the spark IU needed to launch a comeback attempt.

That was the only real mistake DT made all night, and while it could've provided the spark they needed if McCord doesn't have the shoe issue then he would have been in position and I firmly believe we stop them on that drive.

  11. Is Coop a dual threat or pocket passer? Chico's offense would benefit greatly with a dual threat QB at the helm...

Just going off his bio on meangreensports:

"Was named District 6-2A MVP his senior season … Threw for 2,418 yards and 29 touchdowns and added six scores on the ground … Was nominated for the Army All-American Bowl and received honorable hention all-state honors … Was named first-team all-district as a defensive back and wide receiver in his sophomore season … In addition to being a four year letterwinner in football, Jones lettered four years in track and basketball, earning all-district honors on the hardwood his sophomore and junior years"

Seems like a pretty athletic fella and I'm excited about his future. However, I'm also very glad that we have DT. I think he is making huge improvements from week to week and he's only sophomore. He has showed big time leadership and grit playing through some obvious pain against IU. Furthermore, I think Chico is a good enough OC that he is capable of having a great offense with a dual threat or a pocket passer (see his use of the wildcat). In my opinion DT has been enough of a dual threat so far to make some plays on the zone read/QB draw.

  12. First of all he looks like an Andy Samberg character. Secondly, while watching the replay I noticed during a shot of the student section a douche with a Horns hat on. Just because he had a Mean Green shirt on he is less of a douche than the guy in the Polo shirt but he's still a douche. And I feel at fault for not hitting the douche in the face as I was in the student section the whole game. I apologize to all of the Mean Green Nation

  13. McCord was waving to the sideline for a substitution because of the shoe, but Indiana was moving at too quick of a pace to make that happen. Therefore, one of the coaches was waving for McCord to go down to the ground. Just as he was going down to the ground, they snapped the ball.

Gotcha, I didn't notice the coaches telling him to go down. Looking back at it they probably should've just called a timeout or he shouldve left the shoe alone. Either way it luckily didn't end up costing us the game and I'm sure it will be addressed by the coaches before next week.

  14. Why does anyone care if we have a Platinum LEED certification? It just means a lot of money was spent on the certification process. Most construction these days is built under the same guidelines but not going through the expense, in this cause could be millions of dollars extra.

I just don't see the benefit of the certification.

Anytime we can throw out a positive aspect of the stadjium that no other stadjium in the country can say then it's a benefit to us. It makes The App stand out from all other stadjiums in a positive way.

  15. I thought the D did a great job. They were hitting hard, tackling well, and playing to the whistle. I heard a few hits on TV. It seemed like we rushed their QB and you could tell by many bad throws. But I thought the DL did well against UH and put presure in the backfield. Keenum was just too concious and mobile and seemed to stay just out of range. IU's qbs didn't have that ability and it showed.

Our secondary still seems to get burned a lot. The last 2 TDs were blown coverage. Someone tell Hill to leave the shoe on the ground or call a time out! Both TDs were from blown coverage and I believe that both were Hill's responsibility. But I may be wrong about that.

The second blown coverage wasn't Hill with the shoe issue. It was McCord who lost his shoe then chose to sit down and try to put it back on right as the ball was snapped.

  16. i was watching the game on ESPN 3 and it seemed the onside barely went forward. The kicker was the only one with a chance to grab it. Did it go far enough?

Yea it did, if you watch it closely the kicker taps it off the tee and follows it until it goes 10 yards before falling on it.

  17. Walking across campus after class this morning I was in the small parking lot next to the Administration building when a small SUV pulled in driven by what looked to be a couple members of the Athletic Department staff. Out of the backseat stepped Tony himself. This was the first time I had ever seen him up close and I was in awe. Must be nice to be to have a personal ride to all classes as well. Just thought I'd share with some like minded folks
