  1. Just for clarification, not every team makes the SLC tournament. You do have to earn your way in by being among the top 8 teams. Not saying Knight was right in what he said or how he said it but I do know that the seniors he was talking about were juco guys that Steve Roccaforte brought in to try and save his job...they could score, but they were "me first" guys who were concerned about their own stats, not so much wins and losses...he is not coaching for those guys, he is coaching for the guys he is trying to bring in to build that program.
  2. Pretty sure the Longhorns are glad they did not stop recruiting QB's once they had Garrett Gilbert and pretty sure the Mustangs are glad they did not stop recruiting QB's once they had Kyle Padron...Any time you can add a quality player, especially at QB, you do it. We have rarely if ever had the "good problem" of having too many signal callers.
  3. The first time D.Q. Johnson sacks the QB on a Safety Blitz...does George say: "D.Q. is a blizzard with nuts!" Too much?
  4. Tim Duncan was the last good college player to stay all four years and he is 90! Good players go pro..enjoy it while we can, hope it sparks a wave of great recruits to UNT, and TIVO it when David Stern says: With the 5th Pick, the Sacramento Kings select Tony Mitchell, North Texas State! (Doh!)
  5. Just some additional info on tonight's THSCA All-Star game...Forrest Robinson will be fun to watch, talked to him in FW yesterday and he is loving UNT after having been here about a month. He is 6-10 but expect this guy to be more of a wing than a low post threat, loves to shoot the three and even if he ends up putting on some weight, he does not want to lose his outside touch, he will be in the 3-point contest at half-time and I was told he made 10 of 12 shooting three's at practice the other day. Trey Davis is not on the final roster for the game, still not sure about Jalen Jones either, but Jordan Green will be fun to watch as will Austin Chatman, the PG from The Colony who is going to Creighton. Anthony Walker of the South squad is going JUCO to South Plains, not UTA...although he still wants to go to UTA eventually. North looks loaded compared to South but should be fun game. ps...UNT alum Doug Anderson is doing the game on Fox Sports Southwest with Jim Haller, yet another reason to watch!
  6. Crane will probably draw a lot of Big 12 type interest before all is said and done. His size and speed alone make him an FBS prospect but his hands push him to BCS level potentially. Ramacher is an interesting player. Having seen him a few times he seems to be one of those under the radar guys..the kind that don't impress you so much on paper but always seem to be making plays on the field...I like those types. I think it would be great for UNT to make some strong inroads in recruiting the Denton ISD under McCarney, but I also understand it is tough to convince an 18 year old kid who can go anywhere in the country, all expenses paid, to stay in the same town he has been in all his life, with the same people he has known all his life, and the same parents just a few miles away.
  7. Brett, I know that I, along with early 90's All Big-West Volleyball Standout Dee Dee Carlock, are praying for your speedy recovery. Get Well Soon Bro.
  8. Hurst LD Bell RB Kenneth Farrow has had is offer pulled by the new Colorado Coach Jon Embree. http://bit.ly/dH0j4G I have seen Farrow several times, he is a good RB prospect, size, speed, can catch out of the backfield...might not make amazing plays but is very consistent and solid. Would like to see him at UNT.
  9. Received a tweet that Galena Park DB Kendrick Reuben has committed to UNT. Hopefully here is a link to you tube video.. don't know much about him but I do know that North Shore produces top quality athletes every year, especially on defense.
