  1. "I work with a guy that who is a big UT fan and so is his wife, yet both graduated from UNT. When I call him out I get "We really wanted to go to UT." I think that is the typical response now. People not going where they really wanted to and trying to latch onto the big program name."

    Posers....the ultimate form of loserdom

  2. UAB posted 345 Rushing Yds against FAU last night with 7.3 yds per rush with UAB's QB posting a whopping 214 yds himself in rushing.....that's incredible. Only 79 Passing yds on 19 Attempts.

Minny posted 281 yds in Rushing against MUTS last night...in one night RB Duane Bennett posted more than half of his last year's total numbers in rushing by posting 187 yds (reference to MDK???) Minny also posted 150 yds in Passing though we can all see that Rushing was the deciding force in the outcome of the game.

The breakdown??? Minny had dismal Rushing stats last year with having 1293 total and UAB having a lofty 2700+.

The Point is that both FAU and MTSU (teams we must especially prep for) have a poor rushing defense. We posted 2,223 yds in rushing last year with Lance only starting 8 games. Expect Lance to run all over FAU like he did last year with 238 yds and 3 tds. One could argue the primary reasons of losing that game was our defense in combination with Riley being taken out of the game due to ankle injury. Though Tune had a great game...losing your Team's captain can easily demoralize the team mid-game. In regards to MUTS....Lance posted over 100 yds in only 5 carries last year....expect that number to increase drastically as well.

    Thoughts?

  3. cause I am bored at work.........

Sat, Sept 18 Memphis vs. MUTS

Sat, Sept 18 UAB gets another Loss from TROY

Sat, Sept 11 Obviously UNT vs Rice

wow.....that's it. Believe that after last night....they won't be eager to schedule anymore than this number per year if not less.

  4. This is what I think, too. If your RV, you say to yourself or to the BOR that the worst stadium in America is about to go away. The coach who has yet to produce anything has one last season to play there and to show us all that he is worthy of being rewarded with a couple of years as the coach at the new stadium. He gets 6-7 wins this year, which I believe is the true barometer (6 wins and no blowouts, except Clemson or 7 wins period), then RV gives him an extension of a year or two on his contract, with even a small raise. The AD stays in good shape financially as the university doesn't have to buy out a contract and give out a bigger contract to the next coach. Of course, if he doesn't get to these levels, then he gets to find a new job as a HS football coach, where he will be in great demand, and UNT uses its extra student fee money to get a new coach, preferably one that has some name recognition. Having seen what TCU did with Franchione and even UTEP with Mike Price, I think we should be able to get a good coach, such as Steve Kragthorpe, who I want if Dodge does fail. That said, I would prefer Todd Dodge to just make it here and keep building things in the right direction.

Kragthorpe's contract is a 1.1 million dollar a year contract (with bonuses) for five years.

  5. you beat me to it Emmitt! Here are a couple of my observations:

1.) Kilgore has proven to be an energetic leader....and he can throw the ball

2.) MUTS defense struggled against the run in the first quarter...to the point where it wasn't contained. I only remember a couple of bombs being thrown by Minn but for the most part it was the run putting points on the board and moving the chains. Let us remember that Lance only had 5 carries on MUTS last year and raked in over 100 yds. Something to consider is getting Byrd and Hamilton ready for at least a dual RB running game against them

3.) Kilgore throws a missile....and it has been tipped once and almost picked another time.

4.) *Most important.........this team is not playing as if the Dasher scenario has affected them one bit.

Lets see what happens next after the half.

  6. Rumor has it that at the first SGA meeting this week, a Senator showed up wearing a Longhorns hat. Our new SGA President really called him out in front of everyone.

Kevin Sanders may be the most pro-athletics President we've had in a long time.

    "yeah...I know....but my mom's cousin's sister's ex boyfriend went there...and because of that I have been a fan since pre-birth. Can't wait to go to a game one-day"

  7. About Lance

“He’s good. He’s a real good player,” Steele said. “People don’t realize the parity in college football now. You can go and find a first round draft pick at defensive end at Troy State. There’s always been a way of finding those gems in the history of football, but now it’s pretty prevalent. He’s as good as any back that we’ll face- that’s not to say that aren’t others that are good or great one’s that we’ll face, but he’s special.”

  8. Not to be Debbie Downer here, but that OLine we depend on is now being coached by a guy who has all of about a month on the job. Maybe that doesn't matter, but I have to believe that it will have some impact, especially early in the year. Maybe Dunbar is so good that he doesn't need the OLine to be great, but I am actually expecting that with Rodge out as QB (rightfully so), his running stats could very well drop. This doesn't even talk about the issue of Tune not being exactly the most mobile QB. I think that this is the biggest key to Chico either being a first-year success as the OC or looking for a job at the end of the year with the rest of the staff.

My biggest concerns are 1.) Can the defense actually put any pressure on the QB? 2.) Can we even kick an Extra Point with any kind of success, much less a 30+yard FG?, 3.) How does the OLine perform?

Those questions make me feel more confident in believing that 4-5 wins is probably more accurate this year. The amazing part of that equation is that 5 wins would equal the last three years COMBINED!!

I wouldn't sweat this....yes our opponent's defense will be looking out for Dunbar (esp Clemson and Rice) but after a few games I believe that our now more diversified offensive threat will reveal a far larger bag of tricks. Defenses will have to adjust for covering scenarios that didn't exist in large numbers last year (i.e. more usage of WR and TE). This will cause them to have to focus on this threat as well. I would be shocked if we didn't run the option more than you think...though not the fastest guy in the world he has gained some weight since last year and I expect that Tune running would throw everyone for a unanticipated shock.

  9. Meangreenbob asks the questions you all are afraid to ask yourselves.

Disagree Quoner.....I haven't asked this question. About Rice? Of course and I do believe it is a must win. This is why I will need to see the Rice game this weekend to see how they performed. One can easily state that we need to be competitive in this game and throw some shocker plays out there for the masses to see. People need to see us competitive but to win against an established team like Clemson when TCU barely closed them out last year is a miracle. Rice = Must Win or else we won't compete well against Army (on their turf). Getting blown out by Clemson then beaten by Rice would destroy the morale of the team and make it vastly tougher for them to compete with ease the remainder of the season. I have faith in Tune (I am a Thompson fan though) in that he did his best against Bama last year and gave Troy all he had as well. This year will see a large increase in Deep Ball attempts due to a healthy and able receiver core...and a QB who can put it down-field.

  10. With the spread offense ya'll run I would expect Clemson to be in a nickel coverage most of the game. Against Middle Tennessee last year I don't think our Middle LB played except on special teams.

Haven't you heard?? Its a well-kept secret that we just switched to the Smash Mouth Offense in hopes of Lance Dunbar getting 200 yds on you. Keep it between you and me...and go tell Coach Swinney to only prepare to defend against this. ;)

  11. My link

and I quote "The WAC! Might as well stay in the SLC. Just becauses it's a new program doesn't mean the coaches and players have never played before. Starting at the bottom is for losers. Jump into the toughest conference that will have us and our large TV market and make adjustments. Texas has tons of talent going to Missouri (Chase Daniel), Kansas (Todd Ressing), Alabama (McElroy), etc. Certainly some of these guys would want to stay closer to home. If you can't understand this, then stay on the sideline and let the bigboys bark."

Yeah...cause Chase Daniel and McElroy wanted to go to UTSA.

One of these guys must have posted that comment

  12. God guys I know its a highlight video, it was just for fun. I was not trying to thump chest or anything. I'm just bored waiting for saturday. As far as the TCU game goes there are a few videos. It was an ugly and rough game in a monsoon. If the weather was dry it would have been a different game I think. We had the chance to win it a few times but missed those chances including the go ahead touchdown in the 4th that was dropped in the endzone. Anyway that was last year. Goodluck to you guys Saturday and those of u that are coming have a safe trip and enjoy yourself.

I personally like this highlight video.....

My Personally Liked Highlight Video :)

and this one for good measure (just ignore the score)

I'm telling ya....just don't look at the score

  13. Jordan Williams 6

    Devonata Abrams 7

Kyan Anderson 10 Give or take 1 or 2 spots

Trey Norris 70 Up over 20 spots and still more potential (I personally put him in the top 40)

Thanks for the continual insight into the rankings. Your info is extremely valuable. I have to ask...what is your connection with the information sources and speaking to the players? If you want to use a pseudonym then I understand.

  14. Some of our fans really liked yours. "GoMeanGreen" came over and gave us a link. Unfortunately, some of the responses were all scattered about on different message boards.
