  1. According to NCAA 2006 SMU has a great passing game and their best receiver can consistently burn TJ Covington. I see them winning a lot of games this year because this accurate source says they have the potential.

  2. I heard from a very reliable source who I won't name because that would ruin all the fun that Darrell Dickey didn't pass enough classes in Summer II (pay no mind to the fact that it hasn't started) and will be ineligible to coach this year.

My sources also tell me that Saddam Hussein wasn't removed from power by the U.S. Military but was instead ruled to be suspended by the NCAA because of WMD's he received from a booster.

All of this is true because I just typed it on a message board.

  3. If we could go 9-3 this year with the three losses to K-State, LSU and the MUTS with Middle Tennessee going undefeated in conference and taking the NO Bowl bid would you take that? We'd have wins over Tulsa and La Tech and a 9 win season. Would you sign off on this today in the hopes that maybe we get a bid in another bowl game?

Would you rather have what CFN predicts and be 7-4 with no OOC wins but a NO Bowl bid?

  4. Since you signed up for 10 monthly payments.....and there are 12 months in the year......maybe she just decided to hit your credit card/checking account (whatever you used) for the tickets the first month.......and will take out for the MGC in months 2-11. That way you wouldn't get slammed with both tickets and MGC payment in one month.

    Is that possible?

That's very possible except that I specifically told her to start the payments immediately.

Since I'm moving my seats she did mention that someone would be calling me to confirm my seating location...maybe they'd confirm the MGC payments then too?

  5. Rick... all due respect... this is not exactly outside the box marketing... its just good common sense.

Here is my question.... who is the Talon president and why has there been no response or even a post in regards to this? The president of "the" spirit group on this campus isn't connected to someone who reads this board? He/She doesnt read this board? What is the situation with the Talons and what can be done to make it better? Do the alumni not still influence the direction and drive of the group like a frat or other campus group??

I was asked to pledge Talons and didnt so I am ignorant of the situation. but I wonder how this group works and why you seem so convinced that they can't pull this off.

As for Voertman's.... no one should have to give them a heads up.... how long has the schedule been out to the public?? How many artists are on this campus... it just takes a little effort that no one seems to be putting together.

    Shane

    In response to your questions:

1)I doubt highly that the Talons president does read this board. The president used to I know, it was me, but much has changed since then.

2)What can be done to make it better? Disband and regroup.

3)No, the alumni don't exert the influence that they once did. In fact the current crop of Talons even rewrote the constitution to take voting rights away from the alumni.

4)What the problem with Talons? They are handed $10,000 at the beginning of the year to do spirit related stuff. My generation (and those that came before us like Rick's) laid the groundwork for this to be justified because we were vocal, visible, and diligent. Today you've got a group that need not listen to anyone because you can't influence them with alumni or outside donations. They've got a virtual blank check (student service fees I might add) with which to do as much...or as little...as they please.

  6. There are certain things that I'd like to see gone though they wouldn't help me any.

1)No more being able to bump the computer receivers just before they reach the ball without a PI call.

2)No more ability to take a really fast guy, make him a DE, line him up waaaaay outside and speed rush to either blow up every running play or get 12 sacks a game.

3)No more being able to run all of your receivers to one side of the field and just scramble to the other. Even when you come close to a DB, if they are covering a receiver's route they won't recognize that you are nearby and will just stick with the receiver.

  7. If you want the TALONS to do it try not to pass out from holding your breath. The practically don't exist over the summer and come the fall...well, see the beginning of this sentence. <_<

I'd expect to see a more definitive result from another organization or from a group of alums fronting the money and expecting to make it back after they are sold. I for one would be willing to help with that.

  8. Apparently CFN thinks the Big XII South will be a war of attrition this year. Here's a list of the local schools and who they will supposedly lose to this season:

Texas- Ohio State, Missouri, Texas aTm

    OU- Texas, Texas Tech

Texas aTm- Clemson, Colorado, Texas Tech, Oklahoma

    Texas Tech- Nebraska, Texas

So...OU won't be good enough to beat Texas this year but they will be able to handle the Aggies. The same Aggies who will be good enough to beat Texas, but not Tech? This is the same Tech team who will be good enough to take it to Oklahoma but not Texas.

Should be a hell of a ride then. Oh, and even if it means they get to beat OU in the cotton bowl, if UT loses three games this year to the above mentioned teams I'd take it because they won't even sniff a BCS bowl...I hear the Holiday Bowl is nice in December.

  9. How many more yards does Patrick need to break Ja'Quay's school rushing yards record? I know he can't be too incredibly far off...or can he? According to the athletics website he had 2,840 yards through his first three years (not counting any he got last season before injury). Ja'Quay is shown to have over 3,100 for his career. So, could be third or fourth game of the season?

  10. I have an autographed Joe Greene Steelers jersey and a mini helmet from his era that is autographed as welll...I'd pay a pretty penny to have him sign my NT replica jersey from when he played.

I also have the game ball from the 2001 game at Idaho (clinched the bowl for the first time in 40-some years) signed by the team.
