  1. I would really think that we will get a lot more interest from higher profile QBs and WR's than we ever have. That prospect I find very exciting!
  2. I honestly did not know that SLC ran more than it passed. I had always understood it to be a wide-open passing attack. If that is true, then I stand corrected.
  3. I think that is true especially at the high school level, but in the college level? I don't think so. Look, I think TD will win more than he loses because he is a good coach and a good teacher, but my concern is that we are expecting more than he can deliver. Against BCS schools and upper tier programs, I am afraid that it will be the same old same old. Now, if he stays long enough to create a true legacy and ups the recruiting to the level of truly competing with the Big XII schools in that department, then anything can happen.
  4. I may ruffle some feathers here, but I have to say that I fear there is too much hoopla being made about the style of offense. I grant you that it is fun to watch and will attract some attention...especially in the beginning. BUT, the West Coast offense is not what it used to be. Defensive Coordinators are not backing up with their heads spinning anymore. They have figured out how to slow it down and manage it...at least at the college level...where they have great athletes at every position. Texas Tech, BYU and others have all discovered that I am afraid. Bottom line: It takes superior athletes to win. If our athletes are average, our results will be average...no matter how many people we send out on routes. With the above said, I still believe that TD was the greatest hire we could have ever made in our situation, so I am not complaining...just trying to spin a little reality on the situation here.
  5. I would say a minimym of 25K for the opener. If we were to give OU a scare, I say 30K. Whatever, it will be a big improvement!
  6. Exactly...if he fails at NT, it's back to the high school ranks. He knows this. He will give it his all, that's for sure. Here is the real question: Is there another IA coach in America with better high school contacts in Texas than Todd Dodge? I don't think so...that is really all that needs to be said.
  7. Considering all the possibilities, I say TD was a risk worth taking. Reasons: (1) We don't have the money to lure a IA coach who has truly proven himself...we've got to play with the cards we have (2) He does have a good system that will get a lot of attention from fans and recruits (3) Can anyone think of another hiring decision that has drawn more pub than this one? Everyone knows it is a risk...that is why all the excitement. If it pays off...it could be the biggest thing UNT has done in a long time for this program. If it doesn't pan out to something big, we are no worse off than we were before. It's a no brainer.
  8. Thank you...that is exactly what a feasibility study is, though they do not cold call average alums. They make visits with alums with serious money and a history of giving to UNT and see what they would be willing to give if a campaign were initiated. That tells you if the project is feasible. If 1/3 of the needed money is not shown to be there in their study, the project is usually declared not feasible. I am curious to see what the results will be.
  9. This is feasibility study folks. Depending on how it goes, they will start a campaign. We are still a looooong way away if they are just now doing a feasibility study.
  10. Hey everyone, Just letting you know that I am back on the board! I used to post years ago as grad88...you old timers remember me? I had to change my handle...couldn't get the old one to work. So, hear I am...good to be back. We need a coach who has experience building a COLLEGE program with strengths and limitations that are similar to UNT or who has been a part of such a venture--as an asst coach who helped it happen. We don't need a high school coach who has tradition out the wazooo going for him in a tax rich disctrict. It's apples and oranges.
