  1. I believe that in Basketball if you are within 5 points with 5 minutes left the best coached team wins. AND obviously we won. But how does any college team struggle as much as we did against the press last night. It is my opinion (and only an opinion) that the press is used to try to frustrate a team or to surprise the team and force them to waste a timeout (which we did). But we actually turned the ball over. I dont get it. Coach has to work on that TODAY. The press is what put WKU back in the game. Someone posted that the best way to beat the press is by passing the ball. TRUE, but you have to turn and get the ball up court at some point. It was a fun game I actually took 5 adults with me. I am the only one who went to another school (out of state). But 3 of the other 4 all graduated from UNT and this was their first sporting event. What a great one to start with I think that they will be back for USA. STUDENTS: Those who where there were awesome but we needed at least 200 more. And again why are the students sooo far away from the visiting team? BEST VALUE FOR THE MONEY IN THE METROPLEX>
  2. That is a good point. There are 2500 members on this site. If we all took 3 people to a basketball game we would have a nice crowd. In Football if the same members pruchased a season package of 4 seats and convinced one other person to do the same that would be 20,000 season tickets add that to the people who show up for a game hear and there and we have a sell out. Based on the general rule that you double the season tickets sold for expected attendance.
  3. No doubt this is shaping up to be a great recruiting class. And Vizza will get a chance to start. No Doubt that Dodge will start the best man for throwing the ball around. Also, If Dodge wonders about is Junior and Senior talent he will most certaintly give young talent the nod. Hayden Fry (can I bring him up?) did the same thing his first year.
  4. Until 2 years ago (maybe 3), TCU's stadium was about this quality but the field at TCU was not as nice.
  5. He already replied that he is trying to "influence others". You know get the word out.
  6. When you read my posts you will see what makes me happy. Getting the Coaches in place in Football and Basketball that will make UNT the dominant force in the Sunbelt as well as OOC opponents. Dodge is a good start. With that success we build for the future. It does not happen in one year. There is not a quick "take it to the bank" solution. If you think that you can land that money man to donate millions to the program, I'm sure the school will give you a finders fee. But I do not think that it is unreasonable to get a baseball program going. And we do not need a great stadium out of the box. BTW we should not cut other programs budgets to add to athletics. And you probably need thicker skin. you are not necessarily getting reamed it is just that many people do not agree with your opinions. I for one am tired of you and your posts and will not reply to another.
  7. This is what most college baseball programs start with. Or a shared field.
  8. Dont get worked up over the posts of "dumpsalot...of crap". He is only happy with building all new facilities and joining a new conference by this summer.
  9. Guys.... Saying that we are going to build a field with metal bleachers for baseball is not the same as the decision for fouts. Almost all of the nice college baseball stadiums that I have been to started with at nice field and metal bleachers. This includes Mississippi State who holds the record for largest regular season crowd and TCU here locally. When the stadium is built the bleachers are moved down the basepath for additional seating. BTW, the TCU stadium was built just a few years ago. Before that TCU had metal bleachers. Another stadium that was posted is the staduim at So. Miss. BTW RV I believe was very instrumental in going from bleachers (late 80's) to a stadium (90's). They are know building sky boxes. The important aspect is to build a nice field. It is not as easy as throwing dirt out. The first priority is to build a football stadium. AS much as I love baseball we have to focus on basketball and football.
  10. A point was made earlier that I believe to be true. Not one Mid Major conference will make a team better. The mid major teams that becomes ranked gets there because of what the Team is able to accomplish. The strength of schedule within conference play is not that different. Neither CUSA or the WAC is that different in those terms. However,TV contracts and Bowl game tie ins do come with conferences. But rest assured if we start winning Bowl Games will be there. IF we make a move it needs to be to CUSA. But we are not going to get a look at another conference unless we get Baseball and a new Stadium and we win. We need to focus on the Belt and if we have the opportunity to change then fine.
  11. Chicken or Egg???? So tell me how many home sellouts did I miss last year? Or during the "glory" years of winning the sunbelt???
  12. I have been to my fair share of college baseball stadiums. You can easily start building a baseball program with a shared field. IT happens all of the time. Most Universities only have a few hunderd fans at the games. I think that I read that only 10 baseball teams last year self funded their program. Or just build a field. TCU just recently got a new stadium. The only thing they had when I went to a game about 3 years ago was a field (a bad one at that) and a few metal bleachers.
  13. I buy everything you said except this. If we cant win 4 in a row then there needs to be a change. I have not followed UNT basketball in the past. UNT is an adopted school for me. So i fwe are not confident that we can win our conference then what needs to happen so that we will be confident. As far as recruiting goes we do not need top 100 recruits do we?? I mean cant we do this with a few of the top 50 area recruits??
  14. I think they are talking about my comment about "30,000 but make it nice" And I do think that we should start with 30 ok 32,000 as in the presentation. But go ahead and if at all possible put all of the bells and whistles in at that point not at the expansion. which I would imagine would be after we average 28,000 per year. Interest on 15 million adds up.
  15. The main reason for this is that we do not have enough bowl teams to compete for the bowl trophy (whatever it is called). I believe that it requires 4 bowl games for your conference.
  16. So you are giving and going to games???? It sure did not sound like it. and Really... La Tech is that much more appealing then ULL or ULM???? Sure SMU I agree but that is a Cross Town Program. NOT La Tech. I mean who cares other then you if we play them. La Tech is going to help sell out our stadium... Well maybe I'm the crazy one.
  17. Because troy won their bowl game. They have the best chance. But not the only chance. If they win a couple of OOC games and sweep the belt and win the bowl game they will be ranked. They can have no more the 3 losses and realistically they can only have 2.
  18. Well I'm not just chatting it up with my friends. Which is what it sounds like you are doing. I am actually... Hold on now this may seem a little crazy.... I cant believe that I am admitting this but... I'm actually giving money. Yes that is correct I am actually one of those who puts my money where my mouth is. Ok truthfully it is not much. But every little bit helps. And for the record this is not my main college. I never went to school at UNT but I do live in Denton so I have adopted UNT as my own. If we were able to get all alumni to give a small sum of money we would not be talking about building a new sstadium we would actually be out there in the afternooon in lawn chairs watching the big equiptment move dirt. Lets all stop influencing people and start doing something.... And to the supporters on this site which give money and time to UNT athletics, thanks.
  19. I disagree. We have to have the program just to be considered for other conferences. So lets get started and use someone elses field for now.
  20. I totally agree. Just make the 30,000 really nice.
  21. The way that I see for all of UNT athletics to get better is for basketball to bring in the money. Profits from going to the NCAA tournament is much more profitable then winning a football bowl game. The question is how do we get to the tournament. on a consistent basis. I dont get it. This is a sport where one great player or a couple of good players with a good coach makes a huge difference. We are off to an OK start but my concern is how we finish.
  22. Sooo.. What are you specifically doing to help build a new stadium and to get a baseball team so that we can even think about a new conference???
  23. Never thought about it... but true. But I still want to start NEW.
  24. Call it what you will but in a mid major you have to win year in and year out to get any sort of recognition. If we win the sunbelt and go say 2 out of 3 OOC we may not even finish in the top 25. now the second or third year we will.
