Last game of the season. Seeing a lot of people saying if we win then the NCAA will not be able to leave us out of the tournament.

I think we have to win today and at a minimum win our first game in the CUSA tournament to get an at-large bid.  A loss to who we will play in the quarterfinals will be a bad loss.  Depending on who makes the semifinals could be a bad loss too.  Ideally, if we do lose it is a quad 1 loss in the championship game to UAB.

I just left a large accident on I-35.   The highways are still a bit slick, but they are improving over time as they are driven on and get treated.

I still plan to go, but I am coming from Argyle.   This is 100% a personal decision.

I’m coming from Argyle too.  Was bringing my neighbor and his kids, and my kids, but now looks like it’s just going to be me sans kids.

I disagree on this part I bolded. We would be absolutely done if we lost to Southern Miss or UTSA and probably even UTEP. Maybe La Tech would be ok but even that would make it a long long shot. We really need to win out. I do think we could lose in the CUSA semifinals to a team like WKU and get an at large

Losing to LaTech would probably hurt us more than losing to UTEP.  LaTech playing us at the Super Pit will be a Q3 loss while losing to UTEP in their building may be a Q2 loss.

This is might be getting into the weeds, but what would it take for us to get an At Large Bid?

I think if we win out in the remainder of the regular season we get in regardless of tournament result. That would have us inside of 35-30 range of NET & 23-30 AP poll range.

I also think if we lost to La Tech Saturday & then lost in CUSA final we would get in but might need outside help.

Do y’all see any other way the committee gets us in? It goes without saying let’s just win the next 7 games but if we don’t, what would happen?

We need to win our four remaining regular season games.  If we do not win the conference tournament, it would be best to lose to UAB in the championship game.  We cannot lose any Q3 or Q4 games and get an at large bid.  It would also help for Wichita State to get back into the top 75 so that counts as a Q1 win.

  5. We have one more Q1 game (UAB), two Q2 games (FAU & UTEP), one Q3 game (LaTech) and two Q4 games (UTSA and USM).  For any chance at an at large we need to win all these games and if we lose in the CUSA tournament, it needs to be to UAB which will be another Q1 game.  That would make us 2-2 vs Q1 and 5-1 vs Q2 depending on who we play in the CUSA tourney.

I don’t think there is a clear definition. I’ve seen at least one reputable site (College Insider) exclude both CUSA and AAC teams from Mid Major top 25 consideration. This ESPN poll excludes AAC but includes CUSA. Mid-Major Madness’ “The Other Top 25” includes both AAC and CUSA.

What’s even more strange is that Gonzaga is excluded but every other team in the WCC (including BYU) is included.

  7. I think if we won out and then lost to UAB in the championship game, we have a good chance at an at-large bid.  I read that no team has ever received an at-large bid with a losing record in quad 1 and quad 2 games.  There are several teams ahead of us in the NET that have losing records in those games and some by quite a bit.
