  1. I think that this is an NCAA wide rule right?

The thing that sucks about this is not everyone will get the memo....and there are going to be some pissed off people when they get turned away at the gate. Nothing really you can do about it.

The Ath Dept can only do so much in getting the word out...I hope the ticket office is communicating this to people that buy tickets...

The SMU fans are making mention that they have 10-12 graduate/transfer types that should tilt the game their way from a talent perspective.

My thought is that with so many new faces on the scene, issues regarding chemistry can be problematic especially early in the season.

They are correct in that it is hard to plan for that many new faces at so may positions.  This is a different team than what we played last year.

Need to strike them early and often as that will make it harder for all these new guys to transition in.

I think this will be the key to the game...

Our offense should be a well oiled machine....if they're a half second too slow or fast....one step the wrong way left or right...they're gonna get torched.

  3. So I read the predictions on the Pony Board....it seems their thought is their defense will be better because they have talent. I will say, they probably do have a little more talent on their roster than we do. However, they have transfers coming in with a new coaching staff and this is their first game with all of this in place. And although they may have a little bit better talent, it's not like we're playing a P5 talent level team that can wear us out with depth despite scheme issues. Plus they don't have the two WRs that killed us the past two years. As for defensive scheme, I think they'll have issues....because that's what happens when you come out in game 1 with a new staff (like we basically have on D every year Littrell's been here) Until this year

Compare their situation to ours. We have our full coaching staff intact with 17 returning starters. We should be locked in on offense and much more comfortable on defense. That's going to be the difference.

Given they have a new staff and they need to buy in, it's going to be important that they start fast. They're not going to be able to. I predict we come out and really hit them hard offensively...while they're trying to figure out how to adjust....boom, we've scored again. I'm going to predict when they're on offense...they're going to try to run the ball a little more than they did the past few years....if our front is improved from last year (which we have 1 key piece that can clog the middle) they're going to get frustrated early....

I think the difference is our offensive continuity vs their defense figuring things out. If we played them in the middle of the year, it would be different.

They get some late scores after it's over

  4. Judging by how many seats are showing available....

I sure hope people are just waiting to buy tickets or we have a large walk up crowd.

Loads of seats still available. Sections 205 through 208 appear 75% empty?

What is going on? Am I getting ahead of myself?

I imagine most college football teams are facing this today.

They are. And it’s getting worse. Saw an article about UF selling 9,000 less season tickets this year than last and that’s with a new HC that they’re fairly excited about.

Their student tickets haven’t sold out either.

One issue cited in the article: lack of good WiFi at the stadium. Students and young people want to be plugged in everywhere they go. That includes football games.

The other issue is the product on TV is so good and in HD and available everywhere. Meanwhile ticket prices, concessions, parking, etc are getting more expensive.

As for this particular instance, with where our program is....those that are at least interested enough to watch on TV should really come to Apogee. It’s a fantastic atmosphere when it’s loud. And it’s a lot of fun. If we come out hot against SMU it’s going to be LOUD in there.

I guess long story short, you have options. 🙂 Sucks though that the DirecTV NOW app doesn't allow HDMI -- I guess AT&T wants to make you feel like you can do a lot, but not to the point where you can milk it.

So the I believe the DirecTV Now (the one you pay for) app does now let you stream via HDMI.

The plain ol' DirecTV app (free one that comes with subscription) does not....

Your connection in an empty parking lot is going to be much better than when thousands of people (and their phones) show up.

Kind of what I was thinking....

I noticed inside the stadium last year....my cell coverage was much better than it was in the past.

Is that something they did infrastructure wise? Or am I imagining things...

Also....the good news is I just need the ESPN app for GameDay in the morning and the FoxSportsGo app for the 11:00am game (My friend that's going is a UT grad so we're gonna watch that game) so we should be done with the cell phone by 2:30 or so.....the parking lot won't be totally full by then. I can watch the afternoon game via over air antennae (probably switch on the Auburn/Wash game that's on ABC)

  8. Ok so it’s looking like I’m gonna be able to tailgate all day next Sat. Will have an RV for Sat. I have a question for you pros about TV. The ideal situation would be to have a satellite but I don’t have that.

So I have the directv app. I have a TV. I’m gonna get an HDMI adapter for my iPhone. I have unlimited data with AT&T (Plus I believe that AT&T customers can stream directv with no data limit) Cell coverage seems to be decent up there. Looking at getting up there in the morning and watching for 6-7 hours or so. From say 8:00-9:00am to 3:00pm or so. The 2:30 game I want to watch will be over air

    Anyone do this set up?

  9. Aggies being Aggies. This really is amazing:

Jimbo Fisher’s 10-year, $75 million contract with Texas A&M is fully guaranteed, making it the richest guarantee ever in one college football coaching deal. It turns out that contract is even better (for Fisher) than we already knew it was. And it was already pretty great!

The Houston Chronicle obtained a copy of Fisher’s full contract. (For at least the first half-year or so of his time at A&M, Fisher had been working under a memorandum of understanding that didn’t spell out the full terms of his agreement with the Aggies.)

Fisher’s full contract reveals an incredible detail. I mean, incredible for Fisher, but also incredible in a different way on Texas A&M’s part.

If Fisher decides to leave College Station for another job before his 10-year deal is up, the team hiring him away will owe the Aggies a total of ....

    Wait for it ...

You’re really not going to believe this ...

OK, I’m going to tell you:

    Zero dollars and zero cents!
