  1. Welp, Scherzer is done for the year. Left last night's game early and has a strain in his shoulder

Official word is done for the regular season, "unlikely" for the playoffs.

We've won 4 in a row and have clinched a potential tie breaker with Toronto for a wild card spot.

Finish up at Toronto then go to Cleveland before coming home vs Boston and then we finish with 7 of the last 10 vs Seattle.

The play by play tv dudes kept mentioning that Morris told them that the players hadn't "bought in" yet and that is on him. Then they later said that Morris mentioned the vets didn't buy in. So. That is concerning, no?

That is for sure concerning. The next few weeks will be very telling. I was critical of Littrell and thought he had gotten the program as far as he could. But I will say this to his credit, he never seemed to lose the team and they never quit on him. Gotta give him credit on that one even though the results weren't there. We will see if Morris can do the same.

  3. I think "fire Morris" after 2 games is a bit much. No one can truly know at this point if it was a bad hire or not. However at the same time, his first 2 games have been an absolute disaster. I don't see how anyone can look at the first 2 games an think otherwise without making excuses for him. The trick is, do we believe he can turn it around...

    No one really knows.

But man on a scale of 1 to 10, 1 being a disaster and 10 being we'll be in a NY6 Bowl, so far he's looking like about a -2. He has what looks like a pretty big hole to dig himself out of. If we lose to LT and then get beat by ACU (very possible), we could be looking at "losing the team" territory. But regardless of the next 2 games, we should see pretty soon if the players are buying into Eric Morris.

The next 2 weeks will be telling...

  4. So as for ACU. I was curious how they’ve started.

    They’re 2-0 with 2 blow outs

Beat N Colorado 31-11 And Prairie View 45-16

Ironically, they play UIW (1-1) this Saturday.

If we don’t make massive improvements this weekend, we’ll come back to Denton 0-3 facing a possible 3-0 FCS team that is going to be licking their chops to beat an FBS team that is in a downward spiral

  5. So as a HC, it has to be getting a little warm not only starting out 0-2 but in the manner in which he's started. Don't forget while they scored 46 points, they weren't all on offense. Earle threw a pick 6. And now Morris is talking about Earle's feet being a little quick while at the same time praising Rogers' preparedness and calmness.

La Tech is better than FIU.

Seems like a no brainer who should start Saturday....

It was, but Morris wasn't here at the time most of the portal recruiting actually happened.   If you wanted us to make an impact this year, then SL should have been let go earlier so the new coach could 1) defend our guys from getting recruited, and 2) recruited other players actually in the portal.

Now that is about the only slack I am willing to cut EM.  The rest of the complaints, such as staff make up, scheme selection, game planning, in game adjustment, etc?  Those all have some (to a lot of) validity.

I would say that yes....you could cut Morris a little slack there, he can't recruit if he's not here. However I think this shows some of the frustration with the Athletic Department as a whole. Not addressing Littrell sooner falls squarely on Wren Baker's shoulders. I guess his mind was already in Morgantown.

As for Morris, recruiting time aside, through 2 games he looks woefully unprepared to lead an FBS football team. He's had time to evaluate his players and his staff, schemes, etc. This program doesn't need someone getting on the job training. It looks like that's what we have.

Nothing remotely shameful about it.  Everyone in the SWC was doing what SMU did in the 80's but without the protection of being a true blue blood we were crucified.

Now with NIL and the commitment of hundreds of millions from billionaire boosters there is no reason we can't regain status as a consistent Top 20 program.

Yeah but you kept doing it after getting caught so many times.  So not only did you do it but you were bad at it.

seems like that would be a little embarrassing
