My favorite may be "Don't know anything about North Texas but their record...….THEY DID WELL IN THE NIT LAST YEAR."

We should be very familiar with what Aaron Jones does to local teams:

Watched a little bit of the Wichita St/Memphis game today
They talked about the AAC and who has chances to win. They mentioned Memphis, FAU, SMU and North Texas. This is going to be so much fun to watch.

I have such a bad taste in my mouth with Tony Mitchell and I know it wasn't because of Tony Mitchell....
But it's hard to not take Thomas Bell on any team I'm gonna put on the floor.

We’re going to a Baylor game next Saturday. (Wife is a Baylor grad) they’re pretty much sold out for the rest of the season I had to buy them on the secondary market. I think reducing the capacity is a NO BRAINER. if we have a new stadium with reduced capacity. And here’s the key. WE KEEP WINNING, the basketball games will have a FOMO aspect to them and students will brave the 15 minute walk. Those that don’t, their seat will be taken.
We seem to think of bigger capacity stadium for big events. But we need to focus on the 80% of the stadium use. Not the 20%. A new modern, 7,000 or 8,000 seat stadium with a WINNING TEAM will be great for the program.

We do have a media “relations”dept right? What do they do?
And I’m not being critical. Sincere question. My assumption is part of it is (or should be) having relationships with all the media.

. Where were the promotions to celebrate the first ever AAC game at the pit? Why haven’t I heard of a “pack the pit” night on January 25th yet…SMU is coming to our house and there should be NO trouble selling why we need a hostile atmosphere.
Somehow, some way, we need to make the pit more than a great place to quietly enjoy your nachos.
Agree and further…. There’s a huge week night game coming up mid Feb when ranked Memphis comes to Denton. If we can keep winning between now and then…..could be a huge conference match-up. Been to a few big games at the pit when it’s full and rocking and it is amazing. Thats a game that people should be planning ahead for now…..

One of the most underrated coaches in the nation...think of the running backs he has gone through and our running game just keeps producing and he cranks out nationally ranked RBs. If I'm a RB recruit...I would want to play for him.
(and full disclosure....my favorite UNT player of all time)

Do they teach the concept of ROI at SMU's business school?

We were competitive, lead much of the game, and lost respectfully. Sucks to lose, especially since we could have won in different circumstances, but that's how it goes. Going to take a few years to build P3 depth.
And again, we'll make more conference revenue next year than we did this year. We aren't "paying" for anything
I like when you say excuses for what and then list a bunch of excuses....

Look....from a macro level.....I think the market will figure this out. I don't know why I'm not as fired up about it...I think the Littrell era gave me an "I don't really care" vibe.
But my goodness there are 500+ kids in the portal? A few years from now, someone will do a study on who the portal helped and who it hurt. There will be 100s of kids that will transfer, get their $$, blow their $$, get hurt and have no degree living back home....
Will there be more Caleb Williams making millions per year while in school and going to the NFL? Or will there be more Jyaire Shorters transferring and getting buried on the bench. Not sure where he'll end up...but he ruined his career with that decision. I hope he can find somewhere to resurrect it.
I've said this all along....the market will figure this out. There are going to be a ton of kids seriously hurt by this. I can't get too upset or sad for them. People have to have to freedom to go and get hurt. But on the upside....those like Jamori Maclin are going to get big $$$. The game is definitely changed. The schools and multi-million dollar coaches have had guardrails put in place for years that gave them everything they wanted. Now the players on the field are taking that power away. With that power comes risk.
Don't have a problem with the kids going out and getting theirs. Also don't have a problem with the kids flaming out and ending up living home or on the street.
Welcome to the real world. The market will dictate what the market can handle and accept.

But in baseball you have them for the duration of their contracts and you can trade assets for areas of need. You don't risk losing performing players every year. This is not the same.
College athletes now have more power than professional athletes when you think about it....
to a point....
Teams still have to take them

Before we start jumping off bridges, we need to check the portal. According to 247, over 500 players entered the portal today.
Yes. This isn’t special to UNT. This is the new world. It’s a year by year deal. Just have to cheer for the jersey regardless of who is in it. Hopefully Morris and Company can upgrade where these guys are leaving.
And to someone else’s point, a lot of these kids are going to be sitting with no team….it goes both ways.

Man. Thing is….. not to be too greedy but we could be 15-1. Could easily be 13-3 and maybe ranked. But in long seasons…..taking games like that instead of losing them could be the difference in conf tourney seeding, being a bubble team, etc. Gotta have those. Hopefully they take momentum into Charlotte and hopefully Hodge is finding a groove with these guys
