Little more complicated than that. TJ Finley and his people were trying to auction him off to the highest bidder for a while and he was a very soft commitment to return to Texas State even after his announcement that he was coming back. Although that isn’t how he played it to the media.
GJ had to make other plans. I’m guessing that when everything settles and the transfer portal heats up again after Spring ball that Texas State will land another good QB.

Hell maybe they become Chandler Rogers sixth school if he doesn’t win the job at Cal.

Yep, the Murphy twins both, too bad they may as well have never played here.

They said nice things about us when they announced they were entering the draft.

    Let's just re-cap this guy's situation.

He tore his ACL senior year of high school and spent his redshirt freshman year recovering from it.

After his recovery, he was one of the group of Oregon football players who was hospitalized from rhabdomyolysis following their workouts. It can lead to permanent/longterm disability or death.

He played in 2017, then broke his ankle in the 2018 opener. It required 3 surgeries and he missed most of 2018-2021 because of it.

After his return in 2021, he tore his achilles tendon.

He's gotten his Bachelor's and Master's from Oregon, and is donating money to a football team at a school for the deaf, as he suffers from an auditory processing disorder.

Miami seems totally fine with him playing. The NCAA seems totally fine with him playing. He wants to play. He had been granted two extra years prior to the pandemic and the achilles injury.

And THIS is the situation people are bitching about?

This is what I take issue with. He spent 13 or 14 (enrolled in March) semesters at Oregon and has a bachelor’s and master’s. He is now beginning his 3rd semester at Miami which will be either his 16th or 17th semester in college. At what point does he cease being a student athlete? Multiple masters? PhD?

Who cares about 2016. Mason red shirts gets bigger and stronger (167lbs) then he has and extra year, but actually 2 because of Covid. Maybe Mason could have been our Frank Harris.

Blah blah blah. If Todd Dodge doesn’t burn Derek Thompson’s redshirt in 2009. Same old meaningless argument. Maybe he redshirts and becomes Frank Harris or maybe he grad transfers to the P5 with those 2 extra years.

Saw his signing and I can”t lie it did arouse me in terms of the offense and what it could accomplish in year 2 of Coach Morris’ regime

Can one of you recruiting guys give me the low down on Chandler’s game?  Is he more of a pocket passer or more similar to Rodgers being able to use his legs?  How quick is his release?  What type of offense is he best suited to?

I don’t mean to rain on your parade but my understanding is that he committed but that transfers do not sign. If he is enrolled here for the fall semester, that would be his “signing”. Until then, he can pretty much do as he pleases much like a high school commit before signing day.

That was definitely Todd Dodge's philosophy.

I would disagree with that. Dodge hired the guy who everyone around here thought was the very best DC he could in year 2. That was Gary DeLoach. If you look at the play mix in his first year we passed the ball 3 times for every 1 time we ran. By year 3 we were essentially 50-50. Todd Dodge was woefully underprepared to be a FBS head coach in 2007 but he did learn, improve, and adjust as time went on. It just didn’t happen fast enough to prevent his firing.

7.5 - 8  Right around the same.   At least we knew what we had with Aune (he started majority of the games the previous season).   We can't really say the same for Earle.

Look, if everyone is honest with themselves, we all knew Bloesch's offense could move the ball.
It's not like last year's offense went from atrocious to amazing like it did from McCarney/Chico to Littrell/Harrell.

Aune's 2022 season was a pleasant surprise.  Actually, it was VERY SIMILAR (with the glaring difference being the 10 more interceptions) to Rogers' season last year.

    Thank you
