AD narrator voice: This story by Darren Rovell was, in fact, not right on the money.
QuoteWright said the current climate of college basketball, which now includes the transfer portal and name, image and likeness licensing deals, played a small role in his decision. But the changes also made him see that Villanova needed a fresh voice as the school moves forward.
"I think those changes are eventually going to be really good for college basketball," Wright said. "I'm so impressed with how we handled NIL as a team. Some of our guys made really good money. And they had 3.8 GPAs and they went to a Final Four. But there is a side of it where ... [Neptune and our younger assistants] are at another level than me when it comes to that stuff. They're really visionary about it. And I feel like I'm the coach that's trying to keep up with it. That impacted us where we felt like this is a good time."

I do? When have I ever said that? Would you like to see some pictures of Norway from when I used to go for work? It’s lovely.

There is a difference between the ability to choose for one’s own health and being forced to by an unelected government official. We should all have the right to make our own healthcare choices whether that is a vaccine, a mask, or even abortion.

Who else is gonna taco bout the cabanas the kids relax in during free time at The Pines?
(My favorite side note about this is a friend of mine (not a North Texas grad but been drug by us to games over the years) married a former counselor and he went to a fundraising dinner with her. He kept trying to figure out why he recognized RV and then sent me a joyous text I will cherish forever: "Damn it the goofy people from your school everyone joked about that seemed fake are now somehow infiltrating my personal life and marriage."

Uptown is terrible. It’s not even really the party scene anymore. It’s Deep Ellum, as long as you can avoid being stabbed of course.
I think both of them suck (sorry Dot’s, but I have your better options 5 minutes away) and if I go out in Dallas at this point, it’s a few hand selected Greenville haunts for me. I also haven’t been out in Dallas in probably 1.5 years. We have a lot of common ground here.

It’s alright. It’s definitely not what it was, but every generation probably feels the same. Really the only place I’d live in this shithole.
Seriously, if you think DFW is so great please go out and travel to a place where half the land the city sits on isn’t just a freeway.
I don’t think DFW is that great, have lived in a few places far out of this state, had a job that let me travel a lot of the world and am still now glad to be recently back in Denton despite not loving Texas. I think you sound unbearably big mad about not having fun going out in uptown, so I hope you get to move elsewhere someday. It’s pretty great and beats being the guy whining with faux edgy comments about a circumstance he can easily change.

Haha - touché and I appreciate the correction.
It (should) be a big jump from “wow, cool he is still a visible fan and glad he’s around, especially after those last few years” to “hall of fame lock,” right! Could we settle on a midpoint, like a framed pic of him and Scotty Pippen?

Just me personally, but when I see a candidate for this kind of honor and they are “on the fence” or debatable, then I say no or at least not yet.
HOF should be a no-brainer, IMO. Not “a step above old Denton” or “gosh he sure is nice and still hangs around.”
I did get an LOL from the mustache joke.

Is it just me, or did y’all not see how Wright was 2 steps behind on defense? He had an entire season to learn and contribute. Grant and Ross knew they needed him from a depth perspective, but if he allows 10 on defense and only scores 4 on offense, it’s better to have TB3 miss 4 free throws and keep it on the positive side otherwise. Wright had to be missing seriously in basketball IQ or fundamental skills.
When he got time in the Rice tournament game and still looked out of place and couldn’t hold position down low, it was a really telling bummer. He just didn’t fit and I’m sure everyone involved was/is disappointed by it.

The offer for the coach you really wanted fell out of Rick Hart’s pocket when he bumped into Brett Vito hunting for a scoop and landed on Grant’s lap, leading to a comical series of misunderstandings that led to Grant taking off his glasses, looking sexier and winning homecoming queen. However, when he got on stage, he realized he was being tricked but it didn’t matter because so many other people clapped. He broke the crown in pieces and shared it with the whole team as he realized the real NCAA appearance was the friends he made along the way. Tale as old as time.

Yes you would. We all would. That is lifestyle changing money. These coaches do this b/c its a business.
You’d be lucky to land Andrew and while it would be a tough loss, I don’t think you all have the guts to put together an enticing package big enough to pry him loose. Prove me wrong, cowards.

we don't really have a slasher...especially with Rubin out tonight.
as for posting up Abou or TB...in late game situations, especially from behind, you usually want a play that has a fixed time-rundown and known result(s)...like, you know a high screen roll and drive/pull-up will take 5 seconds...with a drive you known it's either a bucket, a foul or good defense...with a pull-up it's either a bucket, an offensive rebound or good defense
posting a player brings in more variables...there are usually multiple passes and off-ball movement just to create the right angle for entry, that takes time...depending on where the catch is, 15 feet takes more time usually than 10 feet...you bring in the possibility of doubling the post player, who usually isn't your best passer/decision maker.
if this question is largely being asked because of TPs last shots...well, ya...dude had a big neon sign that read "HERO" in his mind. probably because that sign has been lit so many times this year.I think it’s a fair question with how Ousmane was going, but he did have a bad turnover in the last five when a double collapsed on him, so your point also works here. I found myself calling for dialing up a two vs three and we tried the second to last possession, slipped, played D and got one more shot, so I guess just go with what go you there at that point.

Great game, great season. Thank you TBIII for coming back this year. This team was so much fun. I hope the fans stayed and gave them a standing ovation. They deserve it.
They did. It was emotional on all sides and a really cool way to cap it all off. Lots of head nods and praise from the UVA fans there too in the stands and on the way out.
