  2. Yes, Damon was a QB during the Matt Simon era. He started sparingly, and was involved in the option play fumble on the goal line against Arizona St in 96. He was injured the following off-season and never played again for UNT. Those people that knew Damon shouldn't find this surprising at all.

  5. Any word on if he has landed a job anywhere?
  6. Oh how I loved 2 for 1 tender baskets on Wed. nights with 5 dollar pitchers. That was the best place on campus.
  7. That year we beat Nevada in the monsoon, Boise St on the road, and new mexico st in the season finally. We would have won conference if ,in Logan, Ut, one of our players got called for holding on an extra point, which our kicker ended up missing. After exchanging punts, we end up pinning Utah St inside their own one with about 2 minutes left. We drop a game clinching int, and Utah St drives down and kicks the game winning field goal, which was obviously no good, and we lose by one point. Anyone remember that game?
  8. This kid may have a lot of other things going on in his life that are more important than football. So I really dont think its fair to label him as a quitter. Sometimes you have to make a hard decision like deciding whats best for you and your family. Football does not last forever.
  9. Where's Tim MacMahon when you need him...
  10. Basically it's like this. Other states do not have as many big time schools as Texas does. Kids from other states are not going to leave their home to come to North Texas. Plus we really dont recruit outside of the southwest. We get the kids that Texas and A&M dont want. But they are still ours, whether they are too small, too slow, or too short. But real big time players are not going to choose to come here bc the best we can offer them is the NO Bowl. We cant offer a shot at a national championship.
  11. if you guys remember before the Scott Hall days, every single team that we played against would use and 8 man front. It is impossible for the line to do their job bc they are outnumbered. It is so frustrating when you see all the linemen actually blocking someone, but there are still two guys in the backfield on almost every play. Without the threat of a passing game, this is going to happen all year long. Meager doesnt have to be great, but he at least has to be serviceable and be able to hit a couple of long throws during a game, just to keep the defenses honest
  12. No one has said the missed extra point by Garrett Courtney in 1998 at Utah State. We dominated them the whole day, we get a holding penalty by Starsky Banks on our last pat, which moves us back 15 yards and Courtney misses the retry, which leaves us up by two points. After trading possesions, John Baker pins them on their own one yard line with about a minute left. Utah St drives down and "makes" a field goal, which they clearly missed bc the two refs looked at each other to see if the other one knew whether or not it was good, and we lose by one point. Had we won that game, we would have been Big West conference champs bc that year we beat Boise on the road and we finally beat Nevada in the monsoon at homecomiong.
