  1. Not me, but I had a similar situation in Austin when I saw a "UNT" sticker on a car. I told my wife "As Pres elect of the Austin chapter of NT exes I think I'm obligated to talk to that guy." She said, "O.K., just not on I-35 at 65mph. O.K. hon." Darn!

    GO MEAN GREEN !!!!!!!

  2. Here's how starved I am for Mean Green sports communications. I actually read a GGII post. But I'm not ready to drink the green kool aid just yet. I hope we put up a good fight against BCS elite teams but until Dickey shows a willingness to game plan against them I remain pessimistic. I will, however, continue to contribute to the mean green as much as I can. Because one day...someday...we will be on a par with the rest of them.

    GO MEAN GREEN !!!!!!!!!

  3. Wal Mart also used to promote "Made in the USA" until they got called on it. Actually very little of their products are made in the USA and those that are made are actually made in American provinces not restricted by labor laws. Don't get me started on this corporation. Support your LOCAL businesses!

    GO MEAN GREEN !

  4. It's no longer thier mascot and was only for a few years way back in the day but Longview High School has the distinction of being the only school with "cannibals" as their mascot. As a graduate of LHS I'm glad they changed it to the Lobos.

Other than that I've always thought "Tar Heels" was odd.

GO MEAN GREEN! (Actually, "Mean Green" is kind of piculiar too.)

  5. [ I don't recall too many players just leaving the team due to grades in the middle of the year.]

Not for us but, P.J. Tucker, the starting point guard for Texas, lost his elligibility at the winter break. How do you flunk out of Texas when you have tutors for every class your taking? And that's what's done on the level. Who know what really goes on. That Texas team is not the same w/o him.

    GO MEAN GREEN !!!!!!!!!!!

  6. This game was on tv here in Austin (Cable Ch. 77) and I had no idea until my brother called me at halftime to let me know. What a game, and I'm exhausted. I get up VERY early for work, but managed to stay up for this. The pit lookED good, but the crowd turnout was dissapointing. I'm also not a big fan of the logo on the court. I hope we can pack it for the tourney!

    GO MEAN GREEN !!!!!!!!!!

  7. We had open looks at three pointers but failed to hit them. I don't know what our shooting percentage was but it had to be low. In the post game press conference the two players (I forget who they were) said we just didn't try and settle into our offense in the first half. We were just throwing shots up that had no business being in the air. Texas guards did play tough. They were in our face all night and got a few too many steals. We need to handle the ball better.

Does Cooley still post? I'd like his take.

    GO MEAN GREEN !!!!!!!!!!

  8. SHREVEPORT, La. (AP) -- A University of North Texas student has

won the gold medal and 25-hundred dollar prize at Centenary

    College's annual piano competition.

    Kostyantyn (kahst-yahn-TIHN') Platonovich (plah-TAH'-noh-vihch)

Travinskyy (trah-VIHN'-skee) won for his performance of a Prokofiev

    concerto.

Travinskyy is also a student at the National Academy of Music of

Ukraine. He performed Prokofiev's Concerto Number One in D-flat

yesterday to win the Wideman Piano Competition finals.

He'll return to Shreveport on February 12th to play as a guest

artist of the Shreveport Symphony Orchestra.

  9. I'll step up.

I criticised DD 4 years ago. ('00) I called for his job, loudly!

3 years ago ('01) I quieted down some, but remained vocal about playcalling.

2 years ago ('02) Not a peep from me. He had a great defense (Oh, DeLoach how you are missed) to bail him out of his run first, run second, draw play third (wait that's a run too), offense. Plus he got screwed from a few officials (Arizona), had his qb go down, and still managed to win a bowl game. I was very proud of him and the team that year.

Last year, ('03) the critisism he got for alternating his qb's was deserved. But at least his teams came to play every game. And he still had a dominating defense. The team was not focussed for the bowl game however.

Now this year ('04). Injuries, off field issues, and Drew. The Texas game was a travisty and every bit of griping was deserved! There was poor play calling in the FAU and Baylor games, and Colorado killed us even though we got to see the emergence of JMo.

Has he done a good job since then? Yes. I give him big props for recruiting and using JMo. I also give him big props for not giving up after starting 0-4, but did he deserve the bashing early on? You bet your sweet ___! Does Mack Brown deserve the bashing for losing to OU 5 straight years? Yes. Does he deserve credit for Saturday's come from behind throttling of OSU? Yes. It's a 2 way street. I haven't been critical of DD latley b/c we've been winning, but this team was NOT prepared early in the season. And that is his responsibility! I'm a fan. I'm supposed to be criticize when it's warranted. I also applaud (loudly) when coaching is done right.

Would you like to know what I'm looking at next? Have we been developing a replacement for Hall next year?

    GO MEAN GREEN !!!!!!
