So we know that the great all-knowing Tuna won't play Drew Henson or Tony Romo next week, against Philly.
So then, after Philly puts the final nail into the playoff hopes coffin....will the genius let a backup QB play the last two games?
And if he does....will they have enough time (two games) to show what they have?
No.
Parcells blew this season when he put Testaverde in the 2nd half of the game on Turkey Day.
At that point, he could have given either Drew or Tony 6 weeks to show what they had.
But no, we got Vinny.....who was pathetic today. You gonna tell me that the other guys couldn't have been at least that good?
Parcells may be a great coach. But he sure isn't planning well for the Cowboys future. I guess they go into next year with VT as their QB. Of course, then he'll be 42 (but have the body of a 32 year old).
Yeah right.

UNT alum and actor Thomas Hayden Church (he played Lowell, the mechanic on the sitcom "Wings" is getting a lot of accolades for his role in the movie, "Sideways"---I've heard it's a great flick, btw.
After reading this about one of UNT's own, I wonder if he might have a good shot at an Oscar nomination:
LOS ANGELES - "Sideways," a quirky comedy about two friends on a road trip through California's wine country, was picked as 2004's best film by the Los Angeles Film Critics Association, the group announced Saturday.
The movie won four other awards: best director for Alexander Payne; best supporting actor for Thomas Haden Church; best supporting actress for Virginia Madsen; and best screenplay, which was written by Alexander Payne and Jim Taylor.

What a game! Mean Green win 92-85....stopping a 10-game home court winning streak for UTPA.
Watson had 28.....Barnett came through huge. When it got tight, Justin took control and scored all 13 of his points.
Nice, nice win. Mean Green now 4-3.
-
80-73 UNT, with 4 minutes left....hold on Green!
-
Fading fast folks. Down to a 5 point lead (with 7+ minutes left), after leading by 19 at the 12:50 mark.
Not looking good....they have the momentum late....
-
Mean Green hit 8 first-half three point shots. Watson has 16 first half points. (He and Sturns have 3 threes, Hop has two).
-
I think it starts at 7:00 on KWRD. Pre-game is probably at 6:30.....
Let's get another winning streak started!

Concerning the group he used to be in:
Wasn't Pantera the group whose members were all big Dallas Stars fans? Wasn't a Pantera song, kind of the team's theme song during the year they won it all?
And you're right....it is a senseless tragedy.

I stand corrected.......they play 6 rounds, so tomorrow will be the final round. After 5 rounds, Joel is tied for 32nd; Keoke tied for 44th. Both still have a shot to make the top 30 and qualify for the PGA Tour.
-
Joel Edwards and Keoke Cotner, both UNT alums who are pro golfers, are playing in the final round of the PGA Tour Qualifying Tournament.
Joel has, as many know, played several years on the PGA Tour (and won the British Columbia PGA tour event a few years ago; winning over a $1 million on the tour that year).
Cotner, has played for several years, in the next level of pro golf, The Nationwide Tour.
As of right now....Cotner is tied for 20th....Edwards is 31st. The top 30 (and ties) qualify for the PGA Tour; the next 50 (and ties) qualify for the Nationwide Tour.
To check out their in tourney progress.....go to www.pgatour.com
With a little luck (and good play) today, we could have two NT exes on the PGA Tour next year.
Good luck, JE and KC!

I agree with FFR....the Pit Crew is just awesome. I enjoyed getting to meet several of the guys out in the tailgating area.
Keep up the good work, Pit Crew!!!

I saw where our signee, Justin Howerton, had 30 of Howe's 48 points in a game against Nevada Community......
-
In the same game....Tracy McGready had 48 for Houston.....
Mavs now 11-6 on the year.
-
Two things that encourage me about the signing of Justin:
1) Billy Gillespie, the new A & M coach, wanted him badly.......and Gillespie is one heckuva judge of talent. (see UTEP which won 24 games or so last year in Gillespie's second year, and is expected to win the WAC again this year).
2) If Justin was just mopping up on 2A players, that would be one thing. But remember he did extremely well in Summer League games, against talented players from 5A and 4A schools.
-
Thanks for these updates, Marty.

The only problem is that there's a Mavs game on Fox SW that night at 7 p.m., too.
I wonder if only parts of the state are going to get the UT-UNT game?
-
That thing doesn't make any sense at all, NDT. No way in Hell that TAMUCC is 7th best in the nation. And Oklahoma State, a final four team last year, 3-0 this year.....is below us.
There's something wrong with that list. Don't ya think?
-
Very cool.
I did see that one of our alums is a voter in that poll (Danny Kaspar, SFA coach).
Kudos to Mean Green 61 for all of the great internet stuff which he digs up!
-
I'm there and will try to convince Green Grenade and PlummMeanGreen to join me at this game.......
-
Speaking of South Louisiana schools..........I saw that former NT player Scott Roniger is eligible to play for one of those schools, at semester break.
I looked it up....it's Southeastern Louisiana (they're in the Southland Conference).
-
That's Southern University.......a predominately Black college located in Baton Rouge, Louisiana.

18th!? 18th?!
Let me just say, I don't even know who the bowling coach is, but I am calling for his/her "head". Fire him/her, now!
Just kidding, untbowler.
BTW.....have you ever heard, that when they built the new Union Building (back in the 70's), they were going to put a bowling alley in there? But were talked out of it, by local business people, who told them that they were putting a new bowling alley in town. Those business people never followed through by building a new bowling alley in town. (Back then anyway......one came in 15 years later or so).
good luck to you and the team the rest of the year.
-
An ugly start.....but it doesn't matter how you start, it's how you finish........
We're now 3-1 and have a big home game next Saturday against TCU.
Our defense is incredible this year.
Hop had 22 , all in the 2nd half.
Ty Thomas kept us in the game, with 14 of our 30 1st half points.
Everyone contributed......to this win. Great win, Mean Green!

That's embarassing. Hopefully, someone will have that corrected before UT gets to the colesium. Also, it might help attendance if women's b-ball fans actually saw that we were playing UT on the sign; not Hampton.
I see UT beating our women by about 30. (Would be thrilled if we gave them a game, but UT is just so good).
I think the men's game will be close, but we will prevail (by less than 10).
