  1. A few years ago the part of the band would come to the alum side and play the fight song from the "equator" between the upper and lower sections.  That hasn't been done in a while.  I'd like to see the Dancers come over as well and do a routine with the band on the equator.

Yes! The "mini-band" was great. I can't imagine why they cut that out. Oh, I'll bet the highly-professional "event staff" wouldn't let them loiter on the equator long enough to play the fight song.

  2. Where did Santa come up with the folding chairs and what do they look like?

    Thanks.

And I must add you were a good boy this year.

They came from some place at G. Mills. The tubing is white and the seat and back are green fabric. The front of the seatback has "North Texas" with a star between the North and the Texas. The back of the seatback has the helmet with the old script logo.

  3. I received three new MG items for Christmas...

    - Mean Green throw/blanket. Old logos, but still very cool (or warm I guess).

    - pair of NT folding tailgating chairs. Awesome baby!

    - New logo hat from Lids. The green one with the white stitching

I asked my family where the package with the new coach was. huh.gif

  4. Are your views more closely represented by person A or person E, or somewhere in between.

Person A makes comments such as, "The program has had more forward progress under DD that any other time in modern history. " "Many are satisfied with the overall direction of the program and are excited about the results the past 4 seasons. Many think Dickey has done a pretty nice job with the program." "DD has proven to be the right guy for the job, knowing how to work with what he has to build towards something." "Let us all see what DD can do next year with a team that is not so young before you give him a fair trail then hang him."

Person E would say, "Dickey should not be giving a pass for his overall record." "...provided a number of our fans with a false sense of accomplishments ." "To me it sounds like we should be content beating up on weak competition in our conference, while getting our a$$es handed to us every year by other 1-A schools." "The realistic context of our program is where we are compared to 1-A, not just the SunBelt." "North Texas should aspire to move ahead of these programs that are grasping to stay D1." "This year is the culmination of a three year erosion everyone ignored" "

  5. My impression of the survey was that there wasn't really anything listed that anyone would NOT want. I know that I ranked just about everything high because the only things listed were common sense things that everybody would want. So, everyone still could have ranked "athletics" as a very important criteria, but just shaved off a notch and I could see how it might end up in the bottom 5 rankings. I also think this is a ridiculously small sample of the possible population of respondents.

  6. What the hell are you talking about? Student side was more than 75% full. More like 90%, I'm inlucing ULM folks as well.  At one point the Alumni side was probably 90% full.  If someone was sitting their ass in a seat at one point they were at the game, regardless of whether or not they left in the forth quarter.

I'm talking about the point at which the place looked the fullest, say late 2nd quarter. Now, if people were constantly coming and going, I'm afraid I don't have the technology to figure that out.

  7. People that are claiming 15K is actual buts in seats are crazy.

Agreed. I'd say it was more like 11-12K (7500 on student side and 4000 on pressbox side). There are 10,000 seats on each side, right? The student side looked 70 - 75% full. When I walked over and looked back at the pressbox side, it looked like about half as many as were on the student side.

  8. Good grief people. This crap is giving me tired head.

If someone says they've had enough and are leaving, I don't blame them. I wish they'd stick with it, but I don't blame them.

If someone looks back at the pressbox like "What the hell was that?", I don't blame them. It might look a little silly, but I don't blame them.

If someone expresses their disappointment/disapproval with any of the coaching staff, I don't blame them. I still hope they hang in there, but I don't blame them.

Just freakin' chill people. This is one season. There will be decades more, there will be dozens of coaching changes, there will be losses, there will be wins, there will eventually be a new stadium. There are going to be diehards, bandwagoners, fair-weathers, etc. Just be happy that there are fans.

  9. I upped the order on ice from the 15 20lb bags to 25 so that should help some.

We will also be in a smaller "pool" due to the fact that someoen believed they needed it more than we did

Yeah, and somebody thought they needed our beer more than we did at my tailgate spot. Came out after the game and the coolers had been raided. mad.gif Get a rope!

  10. OK, I just read through this thread and would like to make a point. Whether you're a player, parent, coach, athletic dept. official or administrator, it's the folks NOT on this board that you should be concerned about. Everyone who posts here fully supports the program. We have the best interest of the program in mind. Isn't it pretty obvious that we are passionate? Be glad that we exist and do your damnedest to cultivate more of us. We are the ones who buy tickets, show up at every game, travel to away games, join the MG Club, buy gear, etc. We are not the enemy!

  11. Curious about other's take on the pass interference call late in the game. Since it happened right in front of the Mean Green fan section, we had a pretty good look at it. It was a jump ball and our guy (can't remember who it was) wanted it more than the two defenders. He split the two defenders coming back to the ball and made the catch. I don't see any way it could have been offensive pass interference. What did George and Hank have to say about it?

Note: I'm not trying to say this was the difference in the game.

  12. I don't care where, but let's just come to some consensus. A couple of years back, when we played at Monroe, all the talk was about going to one of the casinos after the game (can't remember which one now). Anyway, we were there for several hours and never saw another greenie in the place.
