  1. Better read the fine print on that PAC 12 media deal.  Even the B1G media deal won’t be as much as originally projected.

My guess it will be a lot of money assumptions/targets to project a larger number but it all depends on how much the media tears it apart. If it doesn’t go over well, at least two teams will bolt. Living on the west coast, there’s more doom and gloom than hope.

  2. There’s been discussion on here about which direction to focus recruiting on in the Wild West of transfers. Even though it’s tough to lose players to other schools I think you still have to mostly focus on high school kids. Seems like at least you have a chance to keep them. No chance in keeping someone who never spent time on campus.

I’m all for player movement but there needs to be some limitations. But like i’ve said before, the NCAA has been basically neutered when it comes to football. And good luck getting all these conferences to agree on a set of rules.

  3. Kudos for the positivity, i just wish there were more football reasons for the optimism. There’s still time for that but in fall camp we better be hearing more good offensive news. We’re gonna need 24 points to win this game.

    1. I think the line will come down.

    2. I think we have the better team.

    3. If I am wrong about us being better, I don’t think they are a touchdown better.

    4. I think the heat will wear them down in the second half

    5. Just a hunch.

Haha.  Once the Buff bail, that conference is a heaping pile of dung in a shitty time zone.  I seriously doubt SMU leadership will approve that move.

Heyyyyyy, I live in this shitty time zone.

There’s going to be movement this month. SDSU has to notify the MW they are leaving by the end of the month or the amount to leave goes way up.

I wonder if the PAC 12 tv deal is just lousy and behind the scenes they are throwing Hail Marys to keep the teams. Because once the deal is announced, all hell might break loose.

Do all of them have the same name identification, image usage and likeness?  If not, they are abusing the spirit of the NIL.  Not everyone has the same amount of familiarity with the public.  The amount of NIL each recruit should earn has been worked out and I see the NIL for the average recruit seems to be $6,000-$10,000; nowhere near what SMU is paying.

Ed O’Bannon filed his lawsuit back in 2009 and the NCAA, conferences and schools had ten plus years to figure this out but instead they wanted the gravy train to continue and/or wanted Congress or some other entity to bail them out. Nobody did. The grownups had a chance to put controls on this but failed.
There is no spirit of the NIL. Anybody can pay anybody any amount they want.  And right now any school with money is doing that. They certainly aren’t going to want to stop the advantage the have.
Any pissing and moaning about it is too late. If in the meantime the players benefit, so be it. The grownups f’d around and now are finding out the price of inaction.

No need to point out their non-athletically impactful shortcomings.  Generally conference should steer clear of adding private institutions if their current membership is more than 12.  Also a young program, not in a major TV market, that doesn't have a strong following throughout their home stare and  without a New Year's 6 bowl appearance is not a hot commodity for media coverage contracts.  SMU is a laughably poor addition to the Pac 12 but that is an even better add than Liberty to AAC.   Whenever the ACC gets raided they won't be "P5" level anymore and I don't foresee an ACC conference with the likes of North Carolina, Clemson, FSU, Miami, Syracuse, Boston College or Duke in it with Liberty.  If anything AAC should be hotly pursuing UConn while they are still available without a good football program.  Once they put out the dumpster fire that is football they are a P5 program just by virtue of their association with elite basketball.  Having UConn Basketball would be a game changer for our basketball.  It would make almost all the schools in the conference now more reluctant to leave for any conference except the Big 10 and SEC.  And with UConn the league probably gets two bids into the NCAA tournament any times it produces 2 quality teams and some years three teams in.

UCONN already left the AAC to specifically get their basketball teams back into the Big East. There’s no scenario where they ever come back.

The last time they played us they seemed much more pedestrian than what these coaches plan to do.

They had a very good defense and a mediocre quarterback and they leaned into that.

Still, we should've moved the ball better that game. That game and Iowa were lost opportunities.

QB 1 Rogers, QB 2 Rudder/Earle  I think Rogers gets the Nod for now because of his feet when things break down he can make plays with his feet that the other two I don't think can.

Offensive identity go faster, nope not fast enough even faster, get lined up and run the play called.  We are primarily 10 personnel with some 11 mixed in.  I don't think they've added any QB Run game stuff yet because the QB's are whistled dead right now so why waste a snap when it will be quick whistle.  Receiving corps is DEEP.  Shorter appears to be done until the fall to recover from whatever injury he sustained.  The new WR from Tech is the real deal, Dee Brown is healthy and making some guys look silly, and Maclin is also the real deal.  Been impressed with the OL play.  The defense brings crazy exotic looks and blitzes and for the most part in the 2 scrimmages the OL has held up really well IMO.  They've busted but not as much as you'd expect with as much pressures and stunts as they've seen.

Qualon Farrar is the real deal he scored a few times today and he can FLY!! Another SOC signee going to do big things for us.

Defensive standouts to me has been a team effort, impressed with all 11 guys that step on the field each time.  They FLY to the football, are asked do a little bit of everything and they communicate better than any defense I've seen at UNT since the Zach Orr Marcus Trice team.  They are very stingy with yardage today was the first time any long runs were broken on them in the 2 scrimmages and 1 got called back for a holding penalty that I didn't see but if the ref called it, it happened.  Probably most impressed with the DL play so far, followed by the safeties flying down hill and making tackles.

Kicking game I will hold judgment on.  Punter looks like he can absolutely hammer the ball and not only flip the field but put the other teams offense in a bad spot to start the drive.

Your QB 1 shouldn’t be going 2-5-1 for eight yards in a scrimmage.  Something happen physically that hasn’t been mentioned?

Wilburn is very underrated. Stud RB on some bad teams. Put up big numbers for us at the time. Great dude too.

Dorky but almost all my passwords end in 34 because of JaQuay. Had big games even when he was the only offensive option. Underrated for sure.
