It would be nice to see them in the same backfield for more than 2 plays a game. However, Flanigan uses his fullbacks strictly as blockers. I just don't see JT or PC being used as a lead blocker. Pass blocking may be a different story, but then how many teams would be tipped off if JT & PC are in teh backfield and all we ever do is playaction?

Sportsline usually shows NT more love than the other college football ranking sites.

I am not sure how many alumni TU has in the D/FW area either. TU has alumni chapters in D/FW and Houston. Houston has about 1,500 alums. It is probably around there for D/FW.
TU has an enrollment of 4,100 students.
Wow, that's it? Is Tulsa a private college?

Got5onit selects:
#66 Dylan Lineberry
Love this guys nastiness and toughness.

I think the helmets and jerseys look better than last years.
I can't wait to see the new lighter shade of green applied to the jerseys and helmets next season. Combined with black pants, the Mean Green will look pretty damn sharp, IMO.

Notre Dame is going to be a contender this yr.... Charlie Weiss is a damn good coach.
I still think they are playing over their heads. I'm looking for a letdown against Michigan St.

Well, if all GMG members stopped reading the DRC, their sports sections will only be looked at by 3 people a day. Biting the hand that feeds them, eh.

Wow. Scrappy is so strong that he is holding up that girl with just his hand.
LOL!!!
Scrappy's expression makes him look like he needs to take a crap.

We don't have the BETTER team. We have the more talented team and Andy can snatch defeat from the jaws of victory 90% of the time.
I would say you guys have more talented DT's without a doubt. MTSU having more talent across the board is questionable.

After adding College Football Poll, three of the four that are out so far have UNT in the 60's. That's fairly consistant.
Ranking NT in the 60's seems pretty fair.

Wyoming has a pretty decent team. I would expect them to take out any of the Lousiana schools in the SBC.
-
I agree with you on your assessment on this team after the first game.
I'm concerned about the center position on the offensive line. For the most part, Rose was getting beat consistantly by Littlejohn. Jeff Littlejohn is a monster so I'll cut Rose some slack.
-
I thought he performed well for his first game. Some of his passes lacked zip and he underthrew his receivers several times. Did he have surgery on his throwing shoulder?
-
No, it was the same green as last year. They didn't have time to change the green for this season before the order was due so it will be next year when we get the new color on the unis.
I like the new logo font better than the script. And I was afraid they were going to make the Texas smaller then North as in the decals they gave out with the season tickets. I'm glad they kept the words the same size and just offset them. It could be larger to be more visable from a distance, and better yet would be just a NT on them!
The helmets looked a little lighter and less metallic. Oh well, it was probably the lighting.

I liked the new look and new shade of green the helmets used. It was more of a D1A look IMO.

Opinions on Defense:
I was impressed with the D's toughness. They got punched in the mouth but stayed in close and dealt a few punches of their own. The D was on the field for most of the game and turned the Big Mo in NT's favor late. They stopped MTSU when it counted. Something this D could not do against good opponents a year ago. Still, they are little undersized.
Opinions on Offense:
The offense was very disappointing. Super J needs more carries to build up his feel for the game. 10 carries spread over 4 qtrs is not enough to get him rolling, IMO. Patrick is helluva player and is a threat as a receiver. MTSU's interior D-line destroyed NT. Jeff Littlejohn is a monster up front. He was blowing the center off the ball and beating him down like hammer at the point of attack. I hope this was just a case of JLJ jut being a superior talnt, because our guy was getting killed.
In all, I felt NT was a little lucky to come away with a win. Meager did exactly what Dickey expects his QB to do and I commend the young man for being tough in his first start.
-
Our defense has been on the field too long. They are looking tired early. I have a huge problem with the way our D is playing the option. Hit the damn QB! Make the sucker scared to come around that corner. WHo gives a crap if he pitches it, lay his a$$ out!

This is intriguing.

I picked it up at FAU +13.
Looking for the Owls to keep it close with a decent shot at an upset.
Go FAU!!!!

First play of the game prediction:
Line up in 4 wide, Super J in one slot and PC in the other. Then throw it deep to Quinn.
You heard it here first. Don't say I didn't warn ya!

Is the game TV? Possibly purchase it ala carte on PPV?
-
for us non-betters or just clueless people, can someone explain the spread?
MTSU -4
This means Middle Tennessee has to win by MORE than 4 points for MTSU bettors to win. If they win by exactly 4, it's a push.
As for the lines that involve half points, that's just Vegas' way of avoiding the push. It's alse an effective way of enticing bettors to throw a little extra money down by purchasing what is known as a "hook".
For example, Eastern Michigan is favored by 4.5. A bettor who is on EMU might decide to buy a hook for $XX to push the line to -4. This way, he/she has lowered their chances of a flat out loss.
-
This is not good, for ULM and the Belt. I'm very disappointed the Indians couldn't plaster a IAA school like one would hope.

Donkeys on the Hill are slotted 10th???? I wonder how deep some boosters went into their pockets for this one.
These rankings just lost a bit of credibility with me.
