  1. Forgive me for not saying so sooner, but I thought the chorus (men only I think) that sang the National Anthem before the last home game was as good and as inspiring as any I've heard at any sporting event ever. No country and western tricked up freestyle stuff, just a dignified Anthem saluting our great country. I hope they can return often.

  2. We're watching the TODAY show this morning when they do a story on the "not ready for prime time" male dance team that performs at the Chicago Bulls games. They're called The Matadores. My wife says, "that would be fun to do at the NT basketball games." They had about a dozen crazy guys wearing 'Bulls attire doing a dance routine to music. Now, don't get me wrong, I'm a huge fan of the NT Dancers, but perhaps this would be another gimmick at the BB games that might bring in more fans. I hate to ask this, but, well, what do you think ?

  3. Thanks Zeke. We beat a very good LA-LA team tonight. And we did it with a tremendous second half. Good turnout from the Cheerleaders too. I've seen as many North Texas Basketball games as anyone, and I have a tip for everyone. Be on time. And NEVER leave early. Go Mean Green.

  4. The cheerleaders spell it out loud and clear. Football is king. But we have a huge committment to basketball (ie. the super pit) and the notion that basketball is there to keep football and spring football from bumping into each other is crazy.I can't comment on the situation with the Mean Green donors as I get to the games just before tip off and stay in my seat for halftime. By the way, I've got the answer to basketball halftime--The UNT Dancers abd Frizby-Dogs. Please don't read anything into that. I like pretty girls and dogs that can fly!!

  5. Ya know, one of the hardest things about any job, paid or voluntary, is showing up. If the cheerleaders and Scrapy can't show up at the games, perhaps they misjudged the time committment for being a cheerleader/mascot. Here's a test. If you can't make home games because of work, study, illness, or whatever, you don't have what it takes to be a cheerleader / mascot (note: everyone seemed to be able to go to New Orleans) . No hard feelings, but allow someone who DOES have the time to cheer, to wear the uniforms. And as far as I'm concerned, the gymnastic stuff is a distraction. GMG

  6. Glad "LOSTIN SPACE" finally went to a game. We do this a couple of times in many weeks. Quit "talking" about buying season tickets.. But them now. You can prorate the season tickets now. We need your purchase, and your keyster in the seat. This would also get your name on the list to be contacted in the summer for football as well as basketball tickets. Just Win Baby

  7. Top twenty or so. Beating Texas was huge. We played Memphis

state (when they were) when they were ranked in the top 5 and had a lot of energy. One of my all time favorites was the second year we played

DePaul. We were at their place the first year. When they came in here, they were ranked #1 in the nation. This was during the Kenneth Lyons era (Pat Hicks, Delonte Taylor, Furmia Neely, with Bill Blakeley coaching). The game was hyped about Lyons and

Mark Aguire being the top two players in the nation. They were after each other all game. Finally Lyons threw aguire OVER the NT bench. No kidding OVER. We lost but what fun. Ithought last night's game was that kind of game. But I'd rather win. Just win baby.
