  1. Thanks for the info.  It will probably be in the morning and perhaps then the players will get Sat. evening off.  I'd like to have it at Fouts and see the team on the new turf.  I heard the rubber pellets will settle faster as the field is used more.

As for the scout team & LSU plays that brings up some interesting questions.  LSU has a new head coach this season in Les Miles from Okla St., and I assume a new playbook.  Will the scout plays be old OSU plays or how do they know what plays LSU will run?  NT is easy to scout, just find any game from the past 6 years!  dry.gif

If i was Les Miles, i would scrap the last two years of NT games from my list of those used to scout us, (except to take a look at both PC and JT) but as far as gameplaning i would go back and look at the games after Scott Hall went down and Smith took over, becuase i think for LSU we will see alot of similar type plays.

Those used not to let the QB do anything except be a bus driver.

  2. Yes, we are better off than we were four years ago.

To recruit the QB's that come from a high school passing offense, we are going to have to change our offense first. Until then we will continue to gather the attention of the QB's from running schools that have potential and need grooming and tutelage in the mechanics of throwing the ball.

Sometimes that isnt all bad, lets just look at the TWO best QB's in the state right now. Vince Young and Reggie McNeal, both came from programs that used the QB to run the ball, and both were considered project when it came to passing the ball, I dont know but i doubt either Texas or Texes A&M would complain with their current situation.

  3. Love your enthusiasm, but why would we be a contender in four years when the likes of Baylor, Vanderbilt, etc... dwell at the bottom of BcS conferences?

There is one glaring difference between NT and Baylor, if we were moving to the Big XII! That major difference is that we are a state supported school with a high enrollment versus Baylor which is a small private school. That alone will have us competing at a high level within 3 or 4 years. Its all about money when trying to compete at that level, and im quite certain that in this scenerio with in 2 or 3 years we would have all the money we would need, where as Baylor just cant afford to keep up with the Jones becuase of the lack of enrollment and state funds.

  4. I have an idea, but it may be too radical for consideration.

Why don't we gear promotions towards people that may actually buy tickets.

This promo is all cute and everything, but these low hanging fruit promotions, (kindergartners, orphans, band days, cub scouts, prison inmates, political detainees, etc) do NOTHING to help build the fan base. At best, it only gives the illusion that fans are in the stands.

We have got to start targeting those people that have the potential interest to buy tickets. Until then, we're just fooling ourselves.

Well think of it this way, if 5 to 8 thousand kids get free tickets to the game, and just half of them show up thats around 3500 kids coming to the game. Now for those kids to come to the game someone has to bring them. So thats around 4500 to 7000 potential tickets sold to the parents that are bringing their kids to the game to use their free ticket.

  5. IF one of the many LSU Fans on here could explain this, but i was reading on one of their message boards that they have a new website that you have to buy a subscription to, but if you do, they will be showing the game.

Can someone confirm or deny this? What does it cost? Is it Live? etc.

  6. Anyone notice that PMG is nearing the big 7,000 posts?  It may be cause for a celebration.  I don't think anyone else has near that many.  Of his nearly 7,000 posts, I wonder how many contain the word combination "new stadium"?

Dont know how many have those words but i think all of them in the last two years have contained some kind of reference to "the area between those two interstates"

  7. I do think it smart though that we didnt sew any logo into the field on the 50 or the 25 yeard lines. This way for special events we can change the logo, or if we decide on something else we can get that on their as well. Unlike the last turf were we were stuck with the eagle head even though we are no longer refered to as the eagles.

  8. I havent been able to hook up the link (so if somebody could help me out on this) but if you go to ESPN's College Football Section, on the front page has a nice story of Jamario and Patrick.

Mentions that the only fighting they do is on the road when it comes to what will be watched on the TV.

It seems that Patrick is a sports fan and wants to watch other football games on GameDay, but Jamario (with that kid in him still) want the cartoon channel.

  9. QUOTE(GreenN'walinsVet @ Aug 19 2005, 10:27 AM)

Maybe its just me, but im not seeing the point of this post. Yall are saying that we didnt bring in any QB's. Now let me get this straight.

When the recruiting process was going on,

#1 We didnt know Byerly was having elgibility problems (if we did then i doubt he would of been participating in Spring Ball and then named the starter coming out of it).

We did not know ,but the coaches or some who has that responsibility had to have had a clue that there was a problem , or someone is not doing there job keeping track of academics.

#2 We also knew that Meager would be pushing for a starting job (at this time he was injuryless during his time at NT).

We also knew he had major surgery and had been injured before

#3 We tried and came very close to signing one of if not the top JUCO QB out there.

thats great, my point was we should have come close to morethan one. it is a numbers game. you are telling me you would bet the whole season on one guy's decision

#4 We brought in 3 (and if you count special K) 4 Freshman QB's during this recruiting period.

I count three and I would be suprised if any of them were recruited to fill the spot this year adn obviously that was not enough so far

So were are we getting that DD just left the cupboard empty on the QB front???

    from where I sit YES

#1 Im going to guess but Byerly was prabably not close to flunking out after the fall semester, but as we all know it only takes one bad semester to blow things up. This in my opionion is what happend during his spirng semester.

#2 Yes Meager had a major surgery in high school but had come back and led his team to the playoffs injury free and made it through the fall workouts injury free. So are you saying that since Cobbs has had a major surgery that we should assume that he will not make it through the year without getting hurt. What about Scott Hall's injury a few years back, how that work out with his durabiltiy his junior and senior year?

#3 I dont think going after 3 or 4 JUCO QB's is the answer to our problems, say we would of landed one or two, the problem is there gone after two years and were back to the same problem we have now.

#4 How can you say that the freshman weve brought in this year arnt going to be very good and our answer to the QB??? They havent even finished there first two-a-days yet and your already labeling them as busts.

Back in Febuary this freshman class was labeled the best class that DD has signed yet, and the QB's were a big part of that.

  10. Even IF Byerly had made the grades, how much game time experience would he have had coming into this year as our starting quarterback?  Does anyone know how many snaps he had under his belt?

    Keith

So these MAGICAL JUCO QB's we were supposed to bring in, How many snaps have they taken at the Division I level?

  12. I wish i could be ther but im going to the Gainesville @ Frisco Centenial Scrimmage Intead.

*Now before yall jump all over me, let me explain that my kid brother is competing for the QB job at Gainesville and its not looking to good. So this scrimmage could be the last time he sees significant playing time.*
