Be very careful. You must not abuse the power of the .
Or else!

Kudos to you
Thanks - nothing like a little shameless self-promotion

And I hear the guy directing this project is a real cool guy too!

Diebel and 10 other UNT leaders, including Provost Wendy Wilkins, signed a document promising to ensure the success of UNT’s path to national research recognition, even if it means reallocating funds from existing budget lines.

Interesting sidebar is that they also voted to officially designate the Denton campus as the flagship of the system.

Everyone on campus is short on space. I'm sure everyone will have a finger in the pie when COB moves to their new building.

Don't for get to renew you season tickets. I almost forgot my renewal There is a very nice person in the ticket office right this second will to do it for you. You an renew online, but the system didn't appear to let you both renew tickets and Mean Green Club membership. It was an either / or but not both thing. I suppose it would work, but called rather than take a chance.
See everyone at the games next Fall!
I did both last night. It doesn't give you the chance to update Mean Green Club until after you have selected to purchase the tickets. Then it also gives you the options to add Mean Green Club donation and select parking area, as well as add Jr. Mean Green Club memberships.

Can't link article for some reason on my iPhone but essentially students voted "no confidence" and budget and morale problems abound.
It was their faculty senate, according to the DRC:

Well, the patio as I recall goes right up to the water. So unless we hand out kayaks, small boats and life preservers, I'm thinking that option is off the table.
I have a large canoe

Time to update that signature of yours !
You are right! Forgot to do that right away.
-
You might be right. But I'd guess the last time (2007)...it was during Spring Break also. And folks who were there (at the Selection show event).....tell me it was packed.
No - the selection show was during the week before spring break. The game fell on the Friday right before the beginning of spring break last time.

When my company was bought by MetLife, it was some standard HR procedure that everyone under the old company being held on had to re-apply for their same position.
I don't think this is a smear on UNT, nor totally out of possibility of normal protocol ("new" institution?)
Heck, if anything, spin it against UT-Dallas and have this glorify UNT (-Denton)! I don't know how it can be done, but I know you guys can be amazing that way.
*edit: I could only read the first couple paragraphs, so maybe I am missing out on important info.
I was thinking about this some more and think the "buyout" analogy is not applicable. This is more like a spinoff company, I think, in theory. And one of the biggest assets of any spinoff is the human capital. I don't think you would fire the people who built the company in that case.
-
The article notes that the two new A&M campuses (created by the same law as UNT-Dallas) have transferred current faculty to the new institutions directly.

If you are on campus or have a subscription to the Chronicle of Higher Education, you can see the whole article. If not, you'll only see the first few paragraphs:
Faculty Members on a Texas Campus Must Reapply for Their Jobs

Double Bump.
I graduated from the Classic Learning Core, which became the Honors College under the leadership of Dr. Gloria Cox, who has done an amazing job making the program a major feather in UNT's academic cap. I wish I could make this event but I cannot.
I've got a deal for you. I will buy one individual ticket to attend this great event for the first person that PMs me that they're interested. Some pretty decent speakers lined up. Take advantage of just one of the many great things UNT has to offer.
That is great. UNT needs more supporters like you.

Silver - I am convinced that they have already identified who it is they think can get the job done or they wouldn't be buying out her contract... if they don't know who this is and they are just hoping to get someone better then I am really concerned.
That would be quite concerning, considering they are making statements that say they will get input from the university community and create a search committee who is supposed to represent this community. If they already have someone in mind, then this "input" is just a sham (which wouldn't be surprising since they didn't care to listen to the community last week).
I won't have much faith in the integrity of the upcoming selection process until I actually see how it is conducted. That is the sad fact of this current situation. I can only hope that we can actually attract a leader who can fill Dr. Bataille's shoes. We have so much going for us right now as a university.

Bump.
My wife and I are on the Honors College Advisory Board and have already bought our tickets. Hope to see many of you there for this event to help support our Honors College.

There is a full list on the Facebook site, if you use Facebook.

Time to go after Jackson's job.
There is some gathering momentum on this from some students on the Facebook page devoted to this situation: Facebook: Fight to keep President Bataille!
-
Possibly telling new quote from Jackson in a new story on the Denton RC website (bolding is mine):
"Jackson said he was uncomfortable seeing student costs rise and said he wanted to try to respect anxiety over rising tuition and fee costs, and limit the university’s plans."

Please consider buying a ticket to the "Great Conversations" dinner on March 23rd which will benefit the UNT Honors College. Each table will feature a conversation leader who will engage with the dinner guests on a particular topic. This should be a stimulating evening and a great chance to converse with others. Best of all, the proceeds benefit the UNT Honors College.
For more information on the event and discussion topics, as well as to buy tickets, please visit the Honors College Great Conversations Website.

The President can't raise tuition. That is the job of the BOR. Now, she can recommend it to the BOR and they can say no, but raising the tuition is not something she can do on her own.
Now, she might have said something like "I recommend a tuition hike, and if the BOR will not approve, then I don't see how I can continue as President", but I think she's smarter than that.
It could be that she told them that her plans can't be done without this hike, so what would be the point of her continuing if that were the case. She was told to raise the profile of the university, but if she isn't given the tools to do so - then I could see this sort of scenario transpiring. Just a thought.
-
Two questions:
What about alumni?
Did they tell you a reason?
Alumni should also send in their e-mails of support for Dr. Bataille to that same e-mail address.
I can tell you that a number of faculty and staff are doing the same thing.
I have heard rumors that this may have to do with Bataille's plans to raise both academic standards and tuition as (what I see as necessary) parts of the move to raise UNT's academic profile. We may very well be facing a critical juncture in the history of this university, in my opinion.

Well said, Harry. I agree completely.

Wonder what we can read behind the lines in this quote from Jackson that is now in the DRC (bolding mine):
"'Like every large organization has issues, we’ve discussed them and we’ve mutually agreed to fulfill her contract and accept her resignation,' Jackson said. 'I really don’t want to go into things that didn’t work, but focus at this point on her accomplishments and how far we’ve come in four years.'"

Exclusive Baylor Regent Emails

Using Baylor's arguments, the only logical solution is to form a Texas Conference of all the current Texas FBS schools so that all that money stays in Texas.
All in favor say "Aye".
