The spread on the game, from several sites, seems to be TCU by 1. That seems like a good way of saying they have no idea.

Before the game he said that it should be a good measuring stick for his guys as we were a true D1 basketball team. After the game, he said that we were the equivalent of a Southland Conference team.

I hope the guys that were here last year remember Tubbs' comments at the post game and absolutely humiliate the Cardinals tonight.

My prediction is 3 losses for the year, not counting whatever happens in the NCAA tournament.

Zeke: I'm not sure what they werre ranked as of Monday since the rankings have been updated. North Texas is now at #191 and Lamar is at #167. This is a game that we should win by 20 points or more, imo.
Going through the schedule at the beginning of the year, the only losses I penned in were Alabama and Texas. I think the rest of the games on our schedule should be W's and are ours to lose.

Important to note is that as of yesterday (Monday) we were ranked #242 and NC-Wilmington was #91, according to Sagarin rankings. Going into the game, I said that we should win by 15 pts or so and I'm glad I was kinda close. Once this team irons out a few early season hiccups, they could very well be one of the best teams at NT in decades.
Attendance was a little over 1,600.

Thanks Trojanman. From what I've seen in person and heard on the radio, the Mean Green have a very good chance at making the tournament this year, and maybe even an upset or two once there. It all rests on whether or not they can play two consecutive halves to their ability. Had they played the first half the way they did the second, we might've had our first upset in basketball since Lamont was a baby.

At the last two home games, there's been more red than any other color. Don't ask me why, neither team's colors included red.

#18 Alabama 85 Final
Overall it wasn't a horrible game, but the team never recovered from the huge Alabama run in the 1st half. It seems like the main problems were shooting and not running the plays, and it just seemed like we were never able to find the right combination of players on the court.
The second half was much better and the team got the lead down to 9 at one point, but it got away in the final minutes.
Even with the loss, I still have to give props. Last year's team at this point in time would've been blown out by 40 or more. No offense to last year's team as they were a great team, but this team is much farther along this early in the season than last year's. The program is definitely on the way up.

Currently tied at 47 in the second half.

At the home opener last year, the announced attendance was 1,000. I guarantee, though, it was more like 300. This is a huge improvement over last year. There actually were 1,800 people in the stands last night, and the atmosphere in the 2nd half was electric.

Great stat. I really am hoping that this is the year the Sun Belt really turns up some wins in OOC play and drops that nasty "mid-major" label. It sucks reading the preseason rags and seeing the conference ranked behind the WCC and the Big West. <_

The girls open up season play today at 5PM against Binghamton followed by the men at 7PM against Angelo State. It's gonna be one hell of a night.
