  1. You people that say "loosing" all the time sound like yokels.
  2. They might want to think about using something other than MS Paint to resize the logo...
  3. We receive most of our oil from Canada and Venezuela...At least that's what I was told once. Feel free to correct if it's wrong.
  4. One day won't make a difference, especially when people are going to buy anyway on Sept. 2nd. In order for something like this to work, there'd have to be a huge shift in people's daily habits so that there's consistently much more supply than demand.
  5. Yeah, seems like incoming students are getting dumber. I don't know how many times this week I've almost rolled down the window and yelled, "GO, FRESHMEN!!@#$%@#" because they're standing on the sidewalk not walking across the crosswalk while cars wait in 4 directions.
  6. Nah, no fault of yours, it's just the way it goes on this board. Instead of making an official topic, like "Discuss Hurricane Katrina here", people make topics about each and every thing. I wish it were the other way around is all.
  7. GMG should make a seperate forum for all this hurricane stuff, or rename this one to the hurricane forum.
  8. Get ready for more students going to the football game in mid-September. $2.89 a gallon!
  9. Haven't been up to school today, but the past couple of days I've seen a ton of people around with the new logo shirts on. It really does look impressive, and it seems like the stuff is selling a ton more; could just be me. Picked one up for myself last night while hunting for a book unsuccessfully. On a sidenote, does it seem to anyone else like Denton is more populated than it's ever been? I swear I've never seen the campus/town this busy before; maybe gas prices are finally breaking down the segment of people who live outside of town and commute.
  10. I was making fun of a typo in the subject, chill out.
  11. Well, what I was responding to was the notion that there's "only 2 or 3 real basketball powerhouses" or something like that, and football pulls the rest, insinuating that every school that has football defines it as its primary sport. I can guarantee you that's not the case at any of the schools I listed.
  12. First of all, I don't even know who you are. Second of all, all the schools you listed are BCS schools outside of Gonzaga and Pepperdine who are both very well known schools that actually make money on basketball. BCS schools, since you obviously can't comprehend this, get tons of money from football because it's a corrupt system. Maybe you've been living under a rock. Look at any school that doesn't get BCS funds, and you'll see those numbers you posted earlier in the thread about NT. Even at the pinnacle of our game, we're losing over $1.5 million on football. I don't even know why I'm responding. At least when I get into it with someone like FFR, Lorenzo, or emmitt, I know they're just as passionate about this stuff as I am and have donated time and/or money to the school.
  13. Yeah, it sure does... IN BCS CONFERENCES Reading comprehension 101.
  14. I should've stated it differently. I don't see people ever looking at NT's football in the same light that people currently look at schools like UT, USC, Nebraska, Florida State, etc. Maybe once the school hits that 42,000 mark that they keep touting we'll get some looks from some BCS conferences, but the whole idea is far-fetched to me. In basketball, you don't need to be in a power conference to get recognition, you just have to start building some good seasons to get the name out there, which seems more plausible to me. Thanks. I don't think we'll lose enthusiasm, it's just a tougher sell this year than it was last year. We'll see what happens.
  15. The difference is in basketball we could get a national championship with this. In football, we might get invited to the Ft. Worth bowl.
  16. Well, it was simply to state that basketball in the south isn't taboo. Tulsa, Rice, UTEP, Houston, New Mexico State, Arkansas, Texas, Texas Tech, Oklahoma State, LSU, Alabama etc have all have had success in basketball at some point, and all are in the "south". Unless we have a season where we go undefeated (including teams like Texas, LSU, etc) and get an invite to a BCS bowl...which would be near impossible given our in conference schedule... I don't see NT ever being that recognized in football. Oh, or we could join the Big XII or SEC. In basketball, however, all it takes is a good facility, good attendance, good players, and a good coach to get the name out there. I'm convinced we have the good facility and I think we're starting to get good players. Attendance is nowhere even close, although it has been rising these past couple years. The coach, I dunno. JJ has at least stopped the bleeding by getting us to around .500 these past couple years, but there's been so many games where we could've won had things been handled a bit differently, imo. We'll see what happens this year now that KD can play.
  17. I guess the Mavs, Rockets, Hornets, Hawks, Heat, and Magic (well, maybe they should) should just fold it up and go home. No one watches basketball in the south. Nevermind that Texas, Texas Tech, Oklahoma State, Georgia Tech, etc regularly sell-out their arenas. You're naive. non-BCS schools make very little to nothing on football; most lose money on football. The reason more BCS schools make money on the BCS is because it's the BCS. Isn't that common sense? Do you not realize that 80% of all money in college football goes to 5 out of 11 conferences while conferences like the Sun Belt get 3 or 4%? I guarantee you Gonzaga makes much more money on basketball than we do on football.
  18. So, if I'm to believe what you're saying, football drives the bus at Duke, Gonzaga, Pepperdine, Stanford, Indiana, Georgia Tech, Arizona State, Illinois, Maryland, North Carolina, Kentucky, Kansas, Marquette, Louisville, DePaul, etc etc....? Don't get me wrong, some of those have fine football programs, but they're basketball schools. And if you think football is the money-maker for anyone but BCS schools, all I can do is laugh. CUSA is about to see a gigantic cut in their television contracts because of all the basketball losses they took in this round of realignment.
  19. I still maintain that we should put more time and effort into basketball than football, because we can actually gain money/recognition in that. We are in Texas, though.
  20. My point was that it's taking JJ a while to build up his recruiting after all of that. I think we're starting to get some impressive recruits relative to where we're at. I mean in the past two years we've taken recruits away from Arizona and Texas A&M. That's progress for a consistent 250+ ranked program, I think. Whether or not JJ is the coach to get it done on the court, I still don't know. His recruiting impresses me, though.
  21. I thought our decline in recruiting was due to Vic Trilli being a moron?
  22. Unless the WAC and MAC have more horrible facilities than we do, I can't imagine us being competitive. Not to mention the fact that we're 3-20 out of conference and can't even come close to beating the #4 team of CUSA. Why would we be so competitive all of the sudden? Basketball I think we could become more competitive over time simply because people don't walk into the Super Pit and wonder what high school plays there.
