  2. I actually like this design. Yes, we could have done better...but I think this one will grow on me faster than the script did. I remember (very well) the looks on all of our faces when the team ran out of that tunnel with the script on their hats. We had no warning at all, and you could hear the crowd in section E yelling " What the HELL?" I was sick? This design didnt do anything like that to me... that has to be a good sign. Like it or not, this is what RV is going with, which makes it a mute point in my book. We back RV, so we back this helmet. (I know, there was an outside influence here, but we do what we have to do to support Rick)

We'll get used to it, guys... hang in there.

    And the Twins!!!

    I....LOVE....TJ knocking heads,

    "Boro's" sour-grape threads,

    sick or not, there's QUINN!!!...

    and the Twins!!!

    AND I......LOVE YOU TOO!!!!!!!!!

"Here's to having the Blue Raiders Fans wait ANOTHER year for their superior, more talented team to beat North Texas"....

[NOTE: for purposes of this song, the Twins are Patrick Cobbs and Jamario Thomas]

  4. Smack talk 101 back in session I see. I have no problem with the Blue Raiders. Andy Mac is a very good head coach, and we are looking forward to a great game on Saturday. Oh, before I forget... I found a MTSU jersey on Ebay for $4.50. I thought it might be a replica, but it had "RUNR-UP" on the back. Unless that's one of your player's names, that jersey is the real thing. (cant be more than 4 years old)

    Double trouble from North Texas

    Wide Receivers/Tight Ends

One of the more underrated receivers in the Sun Belt resides in Denton, Texas. Johnny Quinn is the best receiver North Texas has had in quite some time. Quinn is a force that has caught a pass in 25 straight games. Last season he caught 49 passes for 9 touchdowns and figures again to be the

focal point of the North Texas passing attack. Zach Muzzy figures to step in as the other starter and is a deep threat that could be utilized by Meager for some long gains. Joel Nwigwe and Brandon Jackson also figure to see time, but shouldn't factor into many games.

Good article. He has most of it right. Muzzy will probably be the guy who gets us first downs.. Quinn and Joel Nwigwe will be the home-run hitters. I cant believe the Blue Raiders dont remember the last game Nwigwe played there? I would say he was a "FACTOR" in that game. I agree that the offense will set the tone for this one, but I have a few worries about the middle of our defensive secondary. I do feel better with Weathers back there. The running NT running backs will decide the outcome. If MTSU can find a way to stop them, then we have a long day. I just dont see how they do it? We will know soon enough...

Either way, it's great to be getting so much press. I've seen more pre-season predictions and Jamario Thomas articles this season than any other I can remember. I wonder what the actual spread will be on this game? Should be a fight to the last few seconds. (but I'm hoping for a blowout)

  7. Skill positions in place on special teams

Senior defensive back/wide receiver Ja’Mel Branch is expected to add a spark on special teams. During his three-year career, Branch has averaged over 21 yards per kick return. In 2002, Branch was named to the all-conference team as a special teams selection.

There are a lot of things Ja'Mel Branch is very good at, but I'm not sure about kick return? He will be as good a DB as he was a WR, which was awsome. (See MTSU highlights from two years ago) However, I seem to remember him having issues "mishandling" punts and kick-offs, and we are not just talking about one bad game? I suspect Muzzy and Cobbs will more than handle the KO duties. Branch is a great player for the Mean Green, and we need him on defense...but let's not ask for trouble, please???

  8. Everyone looked like we expected. I think they are ready for MTSU. THey sure worked hard loading all that stuff on the trucks. At the end, Dicky let the players go except for the freshman..they had to finish. We didnt get an autograph session like we thought? (I think DD just forgot about it), but all in all was a good morning.

  9. Just checked and Isaac Thomas is getting limited practices now. I dont see a problem here. Still worried a little about QB, but we will know about that one soon enough.

Emmitt, start throwing man... you may get the call soon!!!

    GMG!!!

  10. I talked to Isaac Thomas. He has an imbalance of enzymes in the blood. He said he will be out one to two more weeks, then will be back. He thinks he could go sooner, but the coaching staff is being very careful about this one. I'm glad they are being cautious about their athletes. Thomas will be back, and will be huge for us..

As for now, we have enough DT talent to compete well. Emmitt is right with respect to how much talent we lost with Raymond out. But, our hopes for this defense were never placed on the shoulders of just one player? We didnt even do that when Kennedy was here, so I feel sure we can survive the loss of the Big-Cat.

Here's hoping MTSU thinks the same way a few of the people around here do... The defensive line will be fine, guys.... the sky only starts to fall of Jamario and PC collide in warm-ups 5 minutes to kickoff????

    GMG!!!

  11. It hurts us on defense...no question. It sucks just as much for him. TJ is a good kid, and he really tries to make the grades. I know this will sound terrible, but some kids just have trouble with college level class work. I talked to him at the BBQ, and he would give anything to be eligible.

So, how bad off are we? Not too bad at all I think. Isaac Thomas will be back, Miller and Pruitt are looking pretty good, and dont rule out the possibilty that we run some 3-4 with all that linebacker speed. I trust DD already had a backup plan in progress just in case this happened, so they wont be playing catch-up with the defense. So cheer up guys... here's my UPDATED projection on D.

DE: Jeremiah Chapman (Gilmore is closing, but Chapman starts)

NT: Chris Miller (Sky Pruitt rotates here)

DE: Eli Hutchinson (Willie Ransom rotates in here)

LOLB: Brandon Monroe (I know, Holman is really playing well)

    ILB: Travis Thompson

    MLB: Derek Mendoza

    ROLB: Phillip Graves

    LCB: TJ Covington

    FS: Rod Cotton

    SS: Aaron Weathers

    RCB: Jamel Branch

I still feel pretty good about our chances...

  12. I listened until 11:30. Baseball talk... absolutely brutal. Coach Dickey never came on, and was not mentioned after 10:30. I really didnt want to hear so much baseball talk, but since I was suckerred in, here's the scoop...

Rafael Palmeiro had to wear ear-plugs to handle the booing he got when he took his first shot at bat. (Damn funny) and It appears the Chicago Cubs have mailed in the season, shelfing Kerry Woods for the year, and are trading away players like the last man in the club-house gets stuck with the check? I can see the Raffy story being important here (ex-Ranger), but I have no idea why we care about Chicago Baseball? Maybe there is a way to tie that into a North Texas story?

Possible?: Woods is secretly going after the head coaching job for our MEAN GREEN Baseball team". Crap, now I'm talking baseball?

We really need Coach Dickey on the radio...

  13. This is terrific news from the UNT football perspective - it gives us the extra week of prep for MTSU, we get to open with a game we can win (great for confidence) and we stay healthy.  We should have never scheduled a game against LSU in the first place.  Fellas we have a young team and playing LSU was not going to the best thing for them right now.  I'm just sorry that it had to come due to the tragedy of the Hurrican aftermath.  It truly never should have been scheduled in the first place.

Nothing good comes from that LSU game except the check.

Cant say that any better...bring on the MUTS!!!

  14. It shouldn't be called LOOTING.

It should be called salvaging. The stuff is junked anyhow. Insurance will cover it.

If they can find a blowup boat at the CVS, but the employee is there to check them out, I am not holding it against them for not paying.

If they find rubbing alcohol to treat their grandmother's oozing diabetic wounds, I don't care if they don't pay.

If they want to drink a beer, and can't go up to the store since none are open, I don't give a rat's ass if they take out a whole bucket of it.

I would be drinking too. Sitting in my stolen dingy with a case of stolen beer handing out stolen medicine from CVS.

    It is all gone anyway.
