Whenever a Pony gets on our board, I hear their comments in a Thurston Howell III voice. "Lovie, we have so very much attendance and endowment! Now where's the cavier? I say, Gilligan, bring us more champagne!"
Really not far off from the Boulevard last Saturday.

At least North Texas is based in North Texas. $mut isn't even in Dallas. You don't see us with the city of Lewisville logo on our helmets.
This is such a weird argument to make in a serious, non-humorous way. Although we do have some land in City of Dallas, yes, most is in UP. But UP/HP is entirely surrounded by Dallas. It's not like being you claiming Lewisville, it's like if you had a house over in the unincorporated area by Bonnie Brae and Roseland. Are you going to say you don't live in Denton (except to the tax man and code inspector)? Really?

TCU, Tech and Baylor didn't want SMU in the Big 12 for obvious reasons, you guys have been beating them in some recruiting battles as a G5, there's no way they wanted ya'll to be on equal footing. It's ironic, they blackballed SMU from the Big 12 and you guys end up in the ACC, that's academically and sports wise superior. I know my friends from TCU and Baylor are pretty pissed off.
And the next day TCU is embarrassed nationally by Deion, Baylor loses TxSt, Tech loses to Wyoming.
It's been a good week in Ponyland.

Yeah but you kept doing it after getting caught so many times. So not only did you do it but you were bad at it.
seems like that would be a little embarrassing
Embarrassing was sending checks in SMU envelopes and accepting an interview about it. That was embarrassing and dumb
The rest of it.... no. It was just being competitive. We were explicitly targeted.
Read The Pony Trap by Dave Blewett. It does a great job comparing the huge discrepancy in punishment for the same infractions between UT and SMU (and TCU), and the direct personal and political links between the NCAA enforcement apparatus and UT.

Since we're talking about watching, you may be interested in hearing SMU mega donor Bill Armstrong discuss your future opponent LaTech, as well as one of the ultra-premium wines from his personal Vineyard.

You have "Southern" in your name. Whose geographic aspirations are more reasonable?
Only the Southern Methodists. I'll leave it ambiguous whether we mean all Methodists that are southern or if we only want the Southern Methodist denomination

Here's a great article on how the ACC move went down. Doesn't sound like attendance was part of the discussion

Never claimed to have widespread support in Dallas? You twatwaffles LITERALLY call yourselves "Dallas's Team", and have those ludicrous jerseys with "Dallas" on them and the City of Dallas logo on the helmet.
You have "North Texas" on your jersey. Who's geographic aspirations are more reasonable?

@DentonStang Are you guys in Ponyland hearing any rumors on the buyout to leave the American on short notice?
Nothing specific yet. We expect it to be a similar deal to UH UCF Cincy. They are $14M over 18 years. Something in the ballpark of $20M-$25M paid out over a long window, say 15-20 years.
It's not been a big topic of discussion as the funds were raised several years ago and sitting in the special conference expansion war chest.

I want to see us continue to go after FCS and D2 players standing out for their teams. Also, just like in Basketball, I believe a lot of good JUCO talent is being missed out on as teams are now using the portal more.
You can do better. Look at Texas State. No way they are money whipping people. You could do the same.

It's not to keep FSU from leaving. NCSU changed their vote to add 3 new members to keep the conference from collapsing if a couple schools leave. Safety in numbers.
I agree. I'm expressing outrage Finebaum would imply that FSU are more likely to leave after the vote. Silly. If they could leave they would leave, with or without the additions. The additions did nothing on that front.

My question is WHY would a kid transfer if he's already an impact player on a team? That doesn't make sense, and the first conclusion that most would draw is that he's being recruited away from that team.
.
All kinds of reasons. Homesick. Change in family situation. Change in position or head coaches. Just doesn't like position coach. Doesn't like the offense/defense. Grad transfer. Change in destination schools coaches and want to play for them. Current team is not good and wants to win. Contributing now but recruited over with someone even better. Personal beef with teammates (imagine WR and doesn't get a long with QB thus never gets targeted)
And yes, direct tampering

Finebaum is unhinged. Does he really think adding teams will be the difference between FSU etc trying to leave vs staying? They've been talking about leaving for quite some time already.

We have found transfers that are making an impact on their current team make an immediate impact. Players that are riding the bench transferring to get their opportunity usually need some time to adjust.

Remember, according to SMU, you can lose/miss out on something you never had.
Also, I agree our attendance is poor; however, when they make the reported attendance numbers, UNT fams call it out when it is way off. At SMU, like on Saturday, they can have 10-12K in the seats, report 21K, and then boast how they have higher attendance than UNT.But I thought you guys had the support of all of Dallas?
1. Attendance was definitely about 20k..... for the bulk of the 2nd quarter after people finished rolling in off the boulevard and before they left at halftime. I toughed it out but can't blame them for leaving. Not a cloud in the sky. Brutal.
2. We have never claimed to have widespread support in Dallas. I've never heard an SMU fan claim this in my life. This is a ridiculous UNT strawman argument. Again, it's in your DNA to take attendance shots at SMU and the fact that we've never claimed great attendance just passes through your ears without registering.
UNT:"You are short!"
SMU:"Yes, I am 5'4". It's an issue. I might point out you are also 5'4" but wearing tall heels."
UNT:"But I thought you were sooooo taaalllllllll! See! You aren't tall! You are so short! Midget over here! 5'4" dwarf!"

I’m just not completely convinced you can build a program doing what Deion has done (Or TXST or Cal). I honestly throw the TCU game out because I think part of the success there can be attributed to surprise, part of it from TCU taking a step back this year, etc. My question is how that translates the rest of the year and into the next few years. It may prove to be a winning strategy. I’m just still not 100% convinced. I’m also not sure coaches not named Deion can get away with it.
That said, I think that with a full year under their belt our coaches have an opportunity to plug some holes now that they’ve seen our talent in their schemes. I’m just not sure it’s the 40-80 player overhaul.
i type all this knowing Deion may very well prove it works. I’m just unsure.
This is such an interesting and completely foreign viewpoint. I just don't understand it.
You bring in players. They are either from high school or from another college. That's the difference? It would be disruptive to them the roster completely over every year, but to get started? I don't understand the distinction. The disruption in that scenario is desired. Purge the loser culture and players and start fresh.

I have to admit, there's something endearing about the commitment to attendance snack from a school at that average lower attendance than SMU despite having an undergrad population big enough to fill the stadium by itself.
It's more like a UNT tradition than actual snack talk

So does our Administration pressure our head coach to recruit high school players because something isn’t right as we watch other programs bypass us in talent and prestige.
UTSA will destroy what “mean” if any is left in the Green.
Our administration and coaching staff need to ask UTSA if they will mentor us on how to build a football program from scratch because after a 100 years we can’t figure it out.
Either that or get an exorcist because we’ve been cursed to wallow in the depths of the abyss.
If you want transfers you need NIL. Have you donated?

I don't understand what y'all were expecting. You were a .500 CUSA team in your first game with a new coach... vs a P5 team. Very unlikely you could immediately win that even if you had.big NIL. Takes time to build.

AP Top 10.... Is this boring lineup ruining College Football? It's not parity

The top 10 is not parity, but overall transfers have increased parity. Look at all the upsets all across football the last two weeks. I'm not sure if it will affect the top 10-15 teams or not, but everyone else is coming closer together
