It's lipstick on a pig. 6-5 USC playing 7-4 Wisconsin doesn't move the needle for me to even attempt to watch, regardless of how they spin it. Records matter. And Lincoln Riley is in hot water with their fan base if USC is 6-5, lol.
When 8-4's and 9-3's are in the playoffs, 7-5 will be spinned as "almost there."

The record is the issue. Fans and networks only support winners. These super powers are used to no more than 3 losses in a season, max. When they start having 5-6 losses in a season, then they become the new "second tier" or lessor programs of the power schools. None of those fan basses want or will support second tier.
They'll normalize the losing. That's a fact. The media (fox and espn) will lead that charge. Believe in that.

What is this based on?
Additionally, if you want to take a fatalistic view to all this, I would say that either way it won't matter much, because football will have run it's course in the next twenty years as it gets slowly ravaged/undone by rule changes, safety regulations and a growing impact on the health of those who play it.
The NFL will never not play the game. Colleges... that's a different story. They're currently playing this dog and pony show with the players while trying to appease the courts, but it's not sustainable. Even for the elites.

I have a diversive opinion on the pro side. We are about to see a generation of spoiled overpaid college kids demanding more as a rookie than ever before. They will work less and expect more because now they have expectations that can't last in terms of money or respect/experience
The CFB correction will happen when pro teams realize they are getting a lesser product from universities that have enabled a the next class of spoiled kids.
I don't understand this angle.
Where are the NFL teams going to go when they don't want any more college football players?
And how is the NFL going to catch this cat and put it back in the bag?

Greater than 0. Less than 3. 2? 1? I have interest as it is UNT related.

Yeah... because the minor league baseball teams are killing it in attendance, revenue, tv slots, etc.

It is really sad. I have quite a bit of family history from my mother's side in Pine Bluff. I would love to take my kids there for a day, but have been warned.
Back on topic, I wish both of them well. I hated that Moore never really seemed to develop his game and Dixon seemed to be just a throw in for the roster last year. I wish them both well in their new destinations.
We played White Hall High School when I was in high school as a district opponent in all sports. White Hall is considered the "nice" suburb... Pine Bluff is certainly a cesspool.

My house in kiowa dodged the tornado in Valley View. The loss of the life over there is tragic, I think it was 7 total, 4 children.

Bilas sounds like another P5 suck-up. Athletes will have to accept restrictions on compensation if they want roster spots on some programs. Deal with it or join the military!
Jay Bilas is a douchebag. Always has been.

UL-Lafayette and Utah State getting $50M more than us…let that sink in.
Dickey used to beat them down en route to conference titles.

This^ It's all about the patch.
$mut used to have a SWC patch before they got kicked out of the group.
They saw another chance to "buy-a-patch" with the ACC, so they will spend $40 million for it. To them the value of the patch is what it is all about....image, and nothing else. $40 million won't make them P5-quality, even if the patch says they are.
P5 quality is very subjective. Is Boston College p5 quality? Is Rutgers? Etc. Etc. Well, according to their conference commissioners... they are. Smu is no less than those middling/cellar p5 programs. Many of g5 programs could surpass those type programs with the proper patch/tv revenue.

I’ve never seen us ranked in football, much less ranked 2nd like Tech did. I’ve never seen us advance beyond the 2nd round of the ncaa tournament, much less lose a title in overtime like Tech did.
They are FAR better than we could’ve ever dreamed of since we gave up in 1982.
It's all relative in terms of who we are and what they are. Put a sunbelt/cusa/MVC patch on their jerseys for their premiere years and see where they are. If you think they're a lightly supported program now (vs their "peers"), imagine doing that to them out there in Lubbock. Then, put a big12/SWC patch on our jerseys since the 60s.
See what I'm saying? Their little success is created by their opportunities.

you're the one not wiling to share what you've done for a living that has clearly been more intensive than what a D1 college football player has invested in their trade. until you want to do an actual examination of effort, than ya...imma stick to bits
This isn't about me. This is about the debate in which we're having. It's a debate you easily lost and you chose bits as an off ramp. But keep to your bits, buddy.

imagine if Mason put in as much effort as @NorthTexasWeLove did at learning Excel spreadsheets. he'd be a Hall of Famer
That's just it dumbass... Mason did put in a ton of work... and his reward is holding a jockstrap in Canada. Work has some to do with it, but you imply that it has everything to do with it. If it did, Mason Fine, and players like him would be NFL HoF. But Mason is short with pedestrian arm strength and no amount of "work" was ever going to change that. Your other dumbass implication that people don't work hard at what they do is just a very you thing to say.

Why don't the G5s work together and say "we're not paying....we didn't create this mess" and force the Power conferences to sue....P5s, state your case and convince a jury or the public you have a legitimate complaint.
You don't.
That's the logical thing to do.
But they aren't standing up for their stepping stone job and blacklist themselves from their dream of coaching/administrating at a p5. And that's why little vague comments on social media from these people faking outrage is beyond irrelevant.

It seems the solution was the "alternate plan" that the P4s rejected.
It seems we've been wanting an AD who would stand up for us rather than bending over and grabbing his ankles for the powers that be. He may not have the power to override the P4's decisions, but at least he's standing up and calling out their garbage.
Sure. And I'm not blaming him. It's not his fault. But don't post vague disappointments. Air the dirty laundry and be very specific in the wrongdoings.
