With a full week before our 1st conference games, I wouldn't rest them at all. My biggest concern is rust heading into CUSA tournament. We've lost our last two games after 7 days off. Play to win. They have a full week to rest after that which is a lifetime for a college athlete in the condition these guys are in.

I agree. They are trending upwards. All these calls for her head are uncalled for. She is doing amazing things with a bunch of Freshmen and a depleted roster. If anything, she needs to get a new S&C coach to help these girls get through the season.
Honestly, I haven't seen much calling for her head. Are you talking about on GMG.com? I'm a fan and want Jalie to do well. I think she's not that far off. My biggest worry is the number of transfers out she seems to have in the program. But I believe if any other coach at UNT had her overall record, this board would be on fire. It seems most of us are pretty patient with her given she's one of ours and inherited a mess. But McCasland also inherited a shit show, has won considerably more and has taken way more criticism on this board than Jalie.

Curious why he pulled Trautwein when we were up 5-3. Seems that’s a time to keep her in unless there were concerns over pitch count.
I'm guessing it was overall pitch count and how he figures schedule shakes out tomorrow. Hope was starting to struggle. If you leave her in and we lose, then you may not have her much, if at all, tomorrow. This team has come a long way. Our pitching behind hope isn't bad, but it's nowhere near her. We have a great chance to beat a Northwestern with Hope. We saw the game without her.

Y’all want in on one of the secrets to this team’s success, especially last years team?
Happiness and the return to having fun playing the game.

I haven't made it to a game yet this year. I will when the weather and my schedule line up. I made it to a half dozen or so last year and I agree. Night and day. They play hard but it's obvious they're having fun. I think the previous coach just kept them too uptight.

I had a great time today in Norman. Watching the girls beat OU was probably the best women's sports win I've ever seen. Congratulations to the softball team! I hope we have a big crowd show up when OU plays in Denton in a few weeks.
I really hope Wren is working on keeping De Long in Denton. In two seasons, this guy has turned us into one of the best programs in the country. With wins over two top 10 teams in the first 3 weeks, I think UNT deserves a ranking in the coaches poll.
You do know you can make a gift to the University and restrict it to whatever you desire including the softball program. I haven't got this specific but I would think they'd accept gifts towards softball salaries. I agree DeLong is doing a hell of a job. WB hired him so I'm sure he wants to keep him. Posting on here 2-3 times a week does nothing. $$$ towards it does and I'm sure every little bit helps.

What a “hostile” road crowd
LOL. When people complain about our crowds, I'm always like "Do you watch these other games?"FIU is having one of their best seasons ever hosting the #1 team in conference in pod play. There might be 500 people there counting the band and cheerleaders. They're Miami with 55,000 students.
Ours could be better no doubt, but it could damn sure be a lot worse. ODU, Marshall, WKU, UTEP consistently draw. UAB and MTSU draw when they're good. We do about as well as anyone else.

I'm not sure why you say that. We're recruiting better than every before. I'm pretty sure when Rodney was hired he was given a 5 year contract with pay in the top of the league range. If anything, the current philosophy on contracts has been too aggressive. Definitely hasn't been not being aggressive enough. I wouldn't be surprised if they extended Rodney after last season although I can't recall seeing anything on it.

Anyone else have an issue finding the radio game feed on line? My TuneIn app says it’s playing, but there’s no audio. KHYI app streams music and I don’t know what’s going on at the KNTU website but it’s the same with TuneIn. It plays, but no audio. It’s been like that all year.
I didn't try yesterday, but have never had an issue.

B.S. That was a hell of a game between two obviously pretty even teams. Hamlet hits a game winner at their place and Bracey hits one against us.
Agree. I'm heartbroken we lost although I'm 4 beers into making it better. However, that was a BIG time game. Anyone that wasn't entertained didn't know what the hell they were watching.

We shot 18% from three...they shot 50%
Man, there's a lot of people on this board with low basketball IQ. That was a HIGH level game between two really good teams. Every analytics program out there predicted this to be a tossup. We came into the day 12-2 in conference play. We've never been 12-2 in any conference. And for those of you only bitching about 3s, the reason we were 12-2 was we shoot really good from 3. We're top 10 in the country shooting 3s. The two by Zach and Deng were bad (even though wide open) but most of the others were good looks. We hit even 1 and we win. La Tech is an experienced team with something to prove. It's the two best teams in the league in my opinion. If we played 10 times, we'd be 5-5. There's a reason La Tech won at Miss State. We still shot over 50% from the field overall which is really good. We're 12-3 with a 1 game league on the two teams tied for 2nd. We control on our own destiny. Bracey made some incredible shots with defenders in his jock strap. Last time we played he was 2-15. Chill out and help the team win a damn trophy.

You are correct NT has not earned the top seed in the CUSA tournament.
You are incorrect in that NT has not earned anything yet.
NT has earned the best position in the bonus play and no less than the the 5th seed in the tournament.
If I'm looking at it correctly, I think we're assured at least top 4 seed which means we've earned a 1st round by no matter what. We have 2 losses. Even if we lost 4 games we'd end at 6 losses. Charlotte and FIU both have 6 losses but they can't both win all four of their games since they play each other. One of them will end with 7 losses so we are for sure top 4.

They literally just sold out Saturday night and do so consistently. 🤨
No they don't. My brother-in-law is a season ticket holder. They did "sell out" Saturday with 10,305 announced and he said the vast majority of seats was full. The venue seats 10,084 and I think it's really similar to the Super Pit. Only one other time this season was announced over 9,000. My brother-in-law says they are "very" generous with what they announce there as well. The number that really pops out is the 6,000 for Texas. School was out then but that's shocking low.

I’m starting to care less and less about the crowd size.
We’re homing in on close to 50 years of Super Pit-ness. I’ve seen the roller coaster of attendance too many times the past 34 years. We know what has to happen to get a raging loud-ass crowd in there....WINS and notoriety(DFW news coverage).. When we win enough to gain both we’ll have the CBI Championship vs San Fran crowd again.
Till that happens there’s no reason to worry about it. Just worry about yourself and enjoy the ride.
Rick
This!!! And look around the rest of the arenas around the country. Lots of people struggle with attendance. Baylor can't sell out right now and they're #1 and won something like 24 straight.

There was no conviction for Faison. This article details what happened.
Seems strange to me if you accused someone of raping you that you'd get close enough to them at a party for them to touch your groin. So hard for colleges to determine these. I have a daughter so I'd want her protected. I also have a son so I wouldn't want him falsely accused. Let's take it surface value. If he wasn't responsible for first accusation but indeed was responsible for the 2nd. Should he be blackballed for that? Or should he pay price and be able to receive a second chance? Hard to say.

You know institutional support going up is not a good thing. .That is the shortfall of revenues to cover expenses that must be made up by transferring funds from other parts of university.
I don't think that's true because the last two year there were deficits. I think the University decides up front how much they are willing to allocate. Depending on your POV, that number growing could be good or bad. If you think athletics is a good investment for UNT, then it's a good thing especially when guarantee (body bag) revenue and conference distribution combined to decreased by over $2 million. As a sports fan, I'm pleased.A non-sports fan probably wouldn't see it the same. But I think everyone knew the University had put more into athletics the past few years. The University contribution was $15,192,262 in FY 2018 so it only grew by $300k from last year.

Last year the athletic department started putting all of these online as part of the transparency part of the strategic plan. RV's last budget would have been FY 16. He was here through almost all of 15/16 school year. Would definitely have been his budget. That report can be found at https://s3.amazonaws.com/meangreensports.com/documents/2019/10/17/2016_NCAA_Report.pdf
The FY 19 report is up too. It can be found at https://s3.amazonaws.com/meangreensports.com/documents/2019/10/17/2016_NCAA_Report.pdf
I took a snapshot below.
Of note, pretty much everything category is up with the exception of conference revenues 😞. Contributions are down from FY 16 but up the past two years. However, Vito has mentioned several times contributions count as a revenue only when they also count as na expense. So if someone gives you money and you don't spend it, then it doesn't count. I'd expect to see the contributions number climb in a hurry when the IPF debt service payments kick in.
Overall, I think the trendline is positive. Revenues are growing across the board. Looks like University took up the slack of the lower conference revenues and lower body bag game revenues plus a little. Student fee is helping.

That we are 1-7 versus the top 100. Not a strong resume.
We have by far the strongest resume in CUSA. Here is the data line in order. The reality is the entire league has 1 Q1 win (La Tech at Miss St). We've played by far the most Q1+Q2 games and have the most Q1+Q2 wins. We played 9. ODU had 8. No one else had more than 7. We have the best Q2 record in the league. To put in perspective, the Big 12 has 3 teams with winning Q1 records in Baylor (9-0), Kansas(10-3) and West Virginia(5-3). After that, they don't fare much better Oklahoma (3-7), Texas Tech (3-7), Texas (2-8). Interestingly enough, if we moved up from 89 to 75 in Net Score, we'd be a Q1 win for Oklahoma.

Not to derail this thread but if anyone had to come up with a signature win what it would be for McCasland? SL is obviously Arkansas but SMU is right up there. Yes I am that bored 😂
Winning at La Tech would probably be it other than CBI championship. La Tech had a 50s Net score and kenpom when we won there. That was a road win at a team in the upper 15% of D1 teams. In football, that would be a top 25 team (out of 135). I can't recall Seth ever being a team that high but obviously Arkansas was huge because its SEC.

I think I remember someone saying the kids get texts the day before and day of every game. I think this is why the AD went away from paper tickets for students. They get with an app on their phone. When they register for the app, the AD has email and phone info.
Only reason I remember is there was a lot of griping a couple years ago because some students had a hard time registering when it was first unveiled.

I haven't seen finish this year but last year we had our highest finish ever in CUSA (3rd place). Rice and FIU are both really good programs and head and shoulders above the rest.

But yeah, my guess is its to balance the male female ratio. Not sure on the facilities but if they still use the facilities in Physical education building, they were an issue 20 years ago when I last stepped in there. 🙂
