Southern Miss has been giving up yards to teams with a mobile quarterback. They have faced Dak Prescott, Tyler Jones, and Tommy Armstrong. Of those three, Tyler Jones of Texas State is probably at least as good as Tommy Armstrong and better than Dak Prescott. Jones is very underrated nationally. Nebraska's Armstrong rushed 7 times for 75 yards, Mississippi State's Prescott rushed 8 times for 79 yards, and Texas State's Jones rushed 18 times for 184 yards. As mobile as McNulty is...... Saw the whole game twice. Southern Miss completely outplayed Nebraska in the second half. They like to get their playmakers in space. Every receiver can catch. They threw to 11 different receivers in the Texas State game. Every back can catch the ball out of the backfield. They have a stable of three running backs that are good. Richard had 230 yards and 4 td's against Texas State running the ball. They have a very good secondary and linebackers with sideline to sideline speed. Nebraska kicked 5 field goals in the first half. Their redzone defense does not allow many td's. They are two deep on the offensive and defensive line. They played nine o-lineman and 7 d-lineman against Nebraska and owned the fourth quarter. They had 11 transfers in the offseason, including a DT from Kansas, a linebacker from Auburn, a DE from Miami, and a running back from Michigan. The DT was a starter at Kansas, the linebacker was two deep at Auburn, and the running back was a team captain at Michigan. They look nothing like they did last year. I believe you need to know your opposition to be effective. Don't overlook the fact that NT ran the score up on them at their place for their homecoming. I am sure that is on the bulletin board.

Southern Miss is scoring 38 a game and averaging 499.5 yards. Those games include Mississippi State and Nebraska. Their team had 21 straight winning seasons with 14 bowl appearances. History includes wins at Florida State, Alabama, Auburn, Georgia, LSU, OK State, Nebraska, Colorado State, Virginia, etc..... They knocked TCU and Houston out of being BCS busters when both were ranked in the top ten. They still lead the series against Mississippi State and Ole Miss... Don't let the last three seasons fool you. They have a STRONG tradition and are returning to their strength.

Southern Miss will likely win the west this year. They are a totally different team than two years ago. Nothing to be optimistic about.... We get killed!!!!!
