I thought that was where JJ came from. I agree that he was one of our best defenders ever and hit some clutch threes, but it took him about a year to adjust to the D1 game. I hope it is a PWO and we wait to see who is still out there to add.
Is there a time frame as to when players in the portal have to sign by or is it just a free for all? I know they aren't technically signed until they enroll for classes, but was curious if there was a set signing period or not.
JJ was a walk-on but earned a scholarship after his first or second year. No time frame on when portal players sign. The only deadline is for when they must have entered the portal.

I think we should hold on to that last spot and see if some higher rated guys in the portal don't find a home this summer.

In limited minutes averaged one block per 18 min. FT percentage is concerning but hopefully he can improve on it. At least get it up around 60%.

Time to hit the portal and go get some offense!

We need these guys to live in the gym over the summer and get use to playing together. Maybe they can scrimmage against the Bleed Green team. Wish we would find an overseas tournament to play in.

I think we will have much more depth with this group. Maybe 10 deep. Allows guys to be able to fill rolls that fit what they do best and adds insurance if we have injuries again. I know we won't know for sure how well these guys will do but I'm looking forward to finding out in the Fall. GMG!

Too light to play the 5 spot, but I like 6-9.
Do we have any scholarships remaining after him?
We should have one spot left but Brett "Associated Press 2018 Star Sportswriter of the Year Award-winner" Vito still has Dixon listed as returning. I'm pretty sure he went into the portal so that would be the other open spot. Great add by Coach Hodge!

The Ivy League schools don't allow grad transfers to play.

Does the NCAA still have any academic eligibility requirements anymore? Do these student athletes still have to pass a certain number of hours? How does that apply to grad transfers? Do they have to take /pass a certain number of hours?

Just entered the portal today. We need a power forward. This would be his 4th school. He was a starter for Smut this season.

Yeah, it hurt to say
We still need a 6-8 or 6-9 add , another PG and another 6-4 or 6-5 gI agree on the 6'8-6'9 wing and possibly another point guard but we are loaded with 6'5 type guards. Massey the grad transfer guard is 6'6. Cotton and the incoming freshman are both 6'5 and need to play.

Looks like a good finisher and can score from all over the court. Love the size of our guards, all 6'3 plus. and Hodge does love left handed guards! Welcome to UNT.

This will help with Cash's development by getting him more practice reps. Mooney still has a desire to play baseball and he wasn't going to play football for us. That is an example of how the transfer portal can be a good thing. Good luck to him.

We definitely cater to a certain type of player: prioritizes team over self, willingness to play defense, prioritizes winning over personal stats.
Those have been the type of players and system that has been successful for us over the past few years but I think it is fair to question if that will work going forward. Hard to find team first guys in a ME first system.

Once they move on, we need to as well. Let's focus on the guys that WILL be here not the guys that choose to leave. That is the new college landscape. I don't care about what they do at whatever school they choose to go to. I care about the guys that are here. Again, it is going to be a year-to-year situation with most of these guys.

Solid rebounder, decent outside shot and a little post-up game from what I saw in his AAU videos. Welcome aboard young man!

I mean like wow, we must have the highest exit rate of any program pertaining to NIL. I think UNT needs to focus on one and done guys that will graduate or whatever until these type of NIL and portal rules get addressed by our politicians.
Unless you know a kid can come in and contribute right away, what is the benefit of signing guys out of high school. I think this really hurts recruiting at that level. Why develop them for someone else? The only players that will use the red shirt year will be ones at big schools getting paid nice NIL deals to sit the bench as insurance. Going to have to be able to adapt quickly to the new landscape in college athletics.

So Buggs is the only one that hasn't found a new school yet? I heard that he had some good schools interested.
