  1. Stephen, amazingly enough, consistent winning at UNT will be your (and all of our's) greatest ally at all our offices in the Metroplex where numerous UNT's are employed. My own has a couple as well.

The Metroplex sports fan has a "winner's town" mentality and the jump on the band wagon affect at UNT once we start winning again will IMHO surprise many; especially the thousands of NT students who went "down the corridor of years" in Denton without ever having seen a winning football team. (You'll have to remember that 1994 was the last time Mean Green football recorded a season with more wins than losses).

Stephen, if you can email your phone or cell phone number to me or just call me at my Hurst office with the number I emailed you last night, I want to make arrangements with you to just hand deliver your new 2002 UNT Mean Green Football Media Guide. The prize you get because you were our 45'th Kids Korner pledger! I think that would be quicker than the US Postal Service to be quite honest. Thanks...

  2. As Gray Eagle said that our fundraising for UNT's contributions and endowment is still in its infancy, but I believe the Texas Higher Education Coordinating Board's projection for UNT's growth is our real endowment for the time being.

I can see UNT surpassing the University of Houston in 2-3 more years in enrollment which will then make us the 3'rd largest university in the state of Texas only behind the 2 (two) 1878 Texas legislature designated flagship schools in Austin and College Station; those of Permanent University Fund fame. (Hey, give UNT some of that PUF money and see how much greater we become, gol' darn it)!

Anyway, I believe all these forecast of upcoming growth is why President Norval Pohl, our Board of Regents and UNT AD Rick Villarreal are going to be able to do many of the facility projects (among other things) we all want to see come to fruition in Mean Green Country.

Positive growth just allows you to plan for so many things in your future. cool.gif

  3. Does anyone know when they come to Denton?

I was at the largest ever attended UNT basketball game (as many of you on this board were) when we had 10,700 Pack the SuperPit back in the mid 1970's when Bill Blakely was coach. (It was SMU vs UNT and the Mean Green won the game handily as I recall).

10.700? Who said anything about a rivalry? The SMU fraternity that was in the SuperPit that night sure thought there was a heated rivalry a-happenin' that night. Oh well.............. wub.gif

  4. Harry, I believe UNT's $31 million Rec Center will be one of the best recruiting tools all our coaches from both the Mean Green men's and women's programs will ever have had. Can't wait to see the finished product.

    GMG!

BTW, Greenbackers, we are still lookin' for Pledger #41...}:>)
