  1. I saw a Midwestern State bilboard heading southbound on I35 last week somewhere between Austin and San Antonio. It stuck out to me because it seemed a bit far from home and I'd seen the same billboard outside Witchita Falls the previous weekend. Glad to hear UNT has a billboard now. Anyone have a pic?

  2. As I recall...food is free, but if you wanted a beer (or wine, I think they had wine) you had to pay for that...food lines were really LONG...my wife and I are going to eat before we go and just enjoy a few beers at the event. I hope they have "fixed" the food line mess for ths year...See you there!

If I remember right, the past two years they only had a single food line. The Schedule of Events reads "7:00: Gates and Food Lines Open". I'm hoping this means there will be multiple lines. We'll see. At least it's free (minus the $2 online service charge I paid).

  3. Anyone found any cheat codes for this version yet? I'm kind of surprised Scrappy isn't featured as a mascot for UNT...especially since he was in the running for the front cover for one of the systems.

Also, I'm looking for some better instructions on adding your own audio clips. I'm getting an error that it can't find my play list, though I created one on my Xbox 360.

  4. I've heard you can import your own MP3 files into the game to be played in quite a few different scenarios over the stadium's loudspeaker (first down, touchdown, stop on 3rd down, timeouts, etc.). There's the answer to all of our fight song questions! Also, how sweet will it be to pump Thunderstruck into the stadium again?

I thought I saw a post a while back that mentioned a Green Brigade CD. Can someone confirm if this is true? If so, what type of stuff is on it? Might work good with this game feature.

  5. I've seen a few improvements in the game based on this demo and the little time I've spent with it:

    - Better looking turf

    - More realistic sideline (people look less like zombies, sideline camera crews, cheerleaders performing cheers)

    - Option to play teams made up of mascots (the demo includes the option to play a team of Florida Gator mascots vs. a team of UT Longhorn mascots...costume, not BEVO)...don't know if this is an improvement, but it is a difference

The demo version allows you to play LSU at Ohio State (that's all). I'm looking forward to the full version, out on July 15th, with the new UNT uni's. Bottom line is I need a Mean Green football fix. Watching last year's Tivo'd games against OU, ULALA, and ULM just aren't cutting it anymore. My wife thinks I have a problem. C'mon August!

  6. Come out with the family and have fun. The Denton parade begins at 9:00 am on the square. The Model A will be making her last parade in her current look.

Fouts opens at 6:30 pm and Fireworks begin at 9:30 pm.

The Model A will be parked in the endzone and will be available for photos. Come and check out all the work being done and bid her farewell till football season.

Is there anywhere to find out more info about this event, specifically at Fouts? I went a few years ago and I seem to remember there being some sort of fly-over, bounce houses for the kids, etc. I'm trying to decide if it'll be worth the drive with the kids in tow.

  7. I was there with 14 other folks from work, only a few of which remembered to wear green. I was the only one from our group with UNT ties. I was surprised when I walked into the ballpark at the number of North Texas shirts I saw, but later decided I must have arrived at the same time as a bus from Denton or something because I didn't see much green at all in the $3 section. I was bummed that I missed the cerimonial first pitch.

  8. 4:22 - Not sure why they thought the play clock wasn't working. Seemed to be working fine to me. Actually, I was just explaining the play clock to my son and pointing out that they were not going to get the snap off when they called this penalty.

  9. Email reply from the Mean Green Premium technical support folks:

Request Description:The audio died from the FIU / UNT game and now the video has died as well. Two games I really wanted to watch this year through your service and you've failed me on both (see the UNT / Troy game).

    The following response is provided:

We are experiencing technical issues at the site of the broadcast. We are working to resolve the issue as soon as possible. We apologize for the inconvenience.

    Thanks, site support.

    Thank you for your request.

  10. Yes, we used those lids in the FIU overtime win last year as well. Very loud. The Chant was the same I have mentioned here before. If we had more people in the stands those further away would have been able to catch on. Tonight we did what we could.

It goes like this. When I start to spin my helmet over my head and yell everyone else does too to let me know your ready. Then I pump the helmet up and down in cadence: GO MEAN GREEN EAGLES FIGHT FIGHT FIGHT!.

I try to do it three times so that by the third time most have heard and can participate. Should have started this at the Navy game with more folks. Maybe next year or during bb season?

    Rick

I really enjoyed the game (despite the weather elements and small crowd). I really liked the concept of the chant, but there was one thing about it that annoys me a little. This may not be popular, but show me a little lattitude...then feel free to shoot me down.

It's annoyed me in the past when I hear people refer to us as the "Mean Green Eagles". Am I wrong that our mascot is the "Eagles" and our nick name is the "Mean Green"? I may have them switched around, but does it bother anyone else when they are combined together? Maybe I'm being petty.

In the North Texas Football 2007 Fan Guide (page 11 for those following along), there is a similar chant cheer explained, though I'm not sure I've heard it done. I couldn't find an electronic version of the guide any longer, but the guide says:

    MEAN G - R - E - E - N Spellout Cheer

Mascot or Cheerleaders instigate cheer by the action of rolling their fists...

    Crowd responds with continuous

    holler... "MMMMMEEEEEAAAAANNNNN"

When the Cheerleader or Mascot instigator stops fist

rolling action, crowd responds with the Green Spellout

    "G" "R" "E" "E" "N" GREEN

Cheer sequence can be repeated continuously

I think either cheer is great and I will prowdly chant along to either, but thought I'd throw this out there before the "Mean Green Eagles" cheer takes off further.

  11. I'm beginning to wonder if the Thursday ASU game is only on ESPN Game Plan, and wasn't picked up by Channel 21.

There is no mention of Channel 21....in the game notes. They only mention ESPN Game Plan.

    http://www.meangreensports.com/pdf6/95954....;DB_OEM_ID=1800

And the game is not on KTXA's Thursday schedule.

    Anyone know for sure?

Per DirecTV and ESPN's web sites, it doesn't appear to be on ESPN Game Plan either. Just SNY and MASN channels.

  12. With a 6pm kickoff, and rush hour traffic, I'm guessing we won't all be able to get together in one place. But since the game is on ESPN +/Gameplan, you can't watch it at home (unless you pay), and you'll have to make sure that your favorite sports bar will get the game. SRO NW Mall will certainly have the game on.

According to DirecTV, ESPN GamePlan isn't including this game. ( http://www.directv.com/DTVAPP/global/conte...assetId=1800007 )

    I also don't find it on ESPN's website. ( http://sports.espn.go.com/espntv/espnTopic...l&watch=CFB )

I know MeanGreenSports.com says some flavor of ESPN will have it, but does anyone have a confirmation from another source? So far, I only see it listed on the SNY (New York) and MASN (Mid-Atlantic) channels. I don't think either of these are easy to come by in Texas, but I could be wrong.

  13. DIRECTV Channel 625 SNY and Channel 626 MASN

Does anyone know, with a relatively high level of confidence, of a sports bar in downtown Dallas that gets one of these channels? Preferably near the West End? Per DirecTV's website, SNY is not available in Texas. MASN is local sports coverage in the Mid-Atlantic. MeanGreenSports.com says some flavor of ESPN is carrying it, but ESPN's website has no reference to it that I can find. If I was going to be at home, I'd watch it on Mean Green Premium, even though I'm still a little miffed by the technical difficulties during the Troy game. Instead, I have to be downtown meeting a friend from out of town.

    A little help?

  14. I was at the Advanced-Online warehouse today and the supervisor said that they will have the replica jerseys next year. As others have posted, he said that by the time they would have been able to get the truer replicas in, the season would have been about over. Same story on basketball jerseys as well.

On another note, he told me that Advanced-Online does merchandise for both UNT and SMU. He said they sold a lot more UNT stuff at the UNT/SMU game than SMU merchandise. May not surprise anyone with all the new North Texas fans this year. (Thanks TD.) The supervisor pointed out a palate of merchandise ready to go for the FAU game. Great bunch of guys at Advanced-Online. I was bummed they wouldn't sell me anything at the warehouse. You have to use the web site.

    GMG!
