  1. You can take junior college classes as long as you don't enroll as a full time student, 11 hours or less. THey can not be enrolled as a full time student at any college prior to the January start at the university were you are grayshirting.
  2. I agree with jimbob, it will be a lot of fun to guess about our oline. The funny thing is the hype around Cam Feldt and if anyone was at the spring game, it explains A LOT why he is not still a Razorback. He was a great recruiting tool for his brother and I think his brother may live up to expectations set for him. The oline will be a strong force this year barring no injuries. Fortenberry comes in as a 3 year player as center. Everyone can argue the fact that he was 3rd string or whatever, but the statistics show, he's been consistent. He should prove to be one of the best center's in the Sunbelt conference this year. He's a great kid and I see good things to come for that young man. While I'm on that note, I hear he has a brother that will be a Senior next year that Tulsa and New Mexico are looking at strong!!! Might be a great opportunity for UNT to glance his way......just a thought. Now back to the players at hand, with the guards of Y'Barbo and Lemon who both have experience now and from the looks of Wintrich's program are going to be beasts. Feeley and Johnson will do well at tackle. Feeley knows the game and has the size to dominate whether going up against first round NFL recruits or not. When he's on, he's on! Johnson is still finding his feet and how exactly they are to be used, but Coach Simmonds and Wintrich seem to be giving these guys all they've got. Now, for the season to start and these guys to give all they've got back. I'm excited for this last season of Sunbelt play and for the upcoming Conference USA. With the coaching staff in place, it will be a great season!
  3. I have to say this was probably one of the best games to watch. Even though several of us fans were under the overhangs, we were ALL spirited. There was nothing greater than listening to the cheers and screams for Dunbar's record and the whole team. We happened to find seating in the player ticket section and several mom's and dad's were sporting the jerseys of their kids. Even though I am not a true Texan, I found a home Saturday afternoon and am encouraging my 2 boys to look at North Texas as a top runner for their university choice. I WILL be a season ticket holder next year~
  4. If we can get some blocking for Dunbar, we can control these games. It sound crazy right now at 4:32 a.m. on a Sunday after losing another game. Well, first of all, ROLL TIDE, they never disappoint and being at the game was even better. But as I head back to Texas to finish the year rooting for my adopted team, I would just like to say WHAT? If you were at the game or watching the game, you had to see Dunbar lay down several times. He seemed to be getting his groove back toward the end but I don't think last night's problem was blocking for Dunbar. I realize it has to be blamed on something besides Dunbar and you can look at the Bama defense or you can blame it on North Texas's young line, but sitting where I sat and even those around me made the comment that Dunbar looked like he was scared. There were several times there were holes the young man could've run through but either fell or chose to run around the hole. I think this North Texas team is improving every week and I agree the O-line is not perfect but please! I think the OC is going to have to start looking at a different game plan to get the ball in the end zone.
  5. 2 things....the snap didn't lose the game, it didn't help, I agree. Defense can't give up 3rd downs And maybe, just maybe a 6'4" quarterback would be beneficial in more than one way. (catch those high snaps) I agree that the players have GOT to stay healthy. Last year was wild with the injury bug....never saw anything like it!!!!! How do you keep your big lineman healthy? Is it staying in the weight room?
  6. I can't wait til Spring and Summer. And yes, we will be discussing because my bet is some of you will change your mindset....a little bit anyway. Ok, before I tell you my alma mater, let me make clear that this was pre-marriage and children. Wasn't a big football person back then. My kids think it's way cooler than I do, but having boys play high school ball really changes things and makes me an expert, huh? Alabama is my alma mater. Still love the crimson tide but hoping my boys go to school close to home, and there it is, the "mommy" coming out of me.
  7. You guys are too kind. It's great to be talking with some die hard fans. I am a little disappointed though...I have read the board for a little over a year know and I just knew with my "footballmommy" title, you guys would pound on me a little bit. And I can take it if you do. haha I decided to sign up this year so I can respond to some of the topics. I love to talk football and sometimes talk smack about it. I graduated from an SEC school in another state so I am loving the mean green nation and enjoying UNT football. I have adopted you guys as "my" team since moving to Texas and living in the Denton area. I am looking forward to the new stadium, the new coaches and a team with a renewed spirit, as well as reading the gomeangreen topics. 2011 is going to be an exciting year!
  8. Ok, point taken on Leppo. Didn't mean that to come across that way, but it did. I think if Leppo stays and sticks it out, he'll be competition for anyone. From the way McCarney makes it sound, and hopefully the way he's going to do it, whoever is BEST at the position, gets the job. On the comment about Adedipe, he did get beat on around the end but he's a power house and with some practice, he looks like he could be a beast. Maybe they move him in to guard and put someone with a little speed in the tackle position. ????? Sorry, didn't mean to get off the topic of center.
  9. How long did Leppo step in as second string last season? A couple of plays before getting hurt? Really? And he is a Southlake grad that may not even return to UNT after losing Dodge, his mentor. Don't get me wrong, I think he is probably a good player but I am one of those that have to see them play before I can determine if they are the real deal. High school careers are over in college, unfortunately. Rumor has it that JJ is scheduled for another surgery in the Spring and YBarbo has not gotten reps as center yet but will probably get some in the spring. Fortenberry stepped in last year and did a hell of a job for a third string center, in my opinion. Do you guys actually go to the games and watch who is playing what? or do you just use your internet coaching skills looking at a roster to decide who plays where? Just curious. I do agree that YBarbo would be a great backup to Johnson or Fortenberry, but given the circumstances, I would bet on experience, spring practice and then two a days or whatever that's called in college. (Sorry, I have high school boys.) I think the offensive lineman will be Tomlinson, JJ, Adedipe, Fortenberry, and Feeley. With that being said, I think the oline will have a pretty good 3 deep again.
