I think one of the most important takes from here is a guy FROM DFW signs with the Mean Green... first in Johny Jones's coaching career here (as a freshman). DFW is such an underrated basketball mecca, and the more we win, the more people here will take notice.

Yes, because we are North Texas, and someone has to complain about every single thing that goes on.
I am shocked--Shocked--to find that drinking is going on here!!
Honestly, is this really different then any other school and their tailgate?

If it takes college students excessively drinking at a homecoming football game to get this guy's panties in a wad and write an editorial to his alma mater's newspaper.... I'd hate to see how the rest of his life is shaping up.

Why do we get outdrawn by D2 and D3 schools?
The answer is simple... have you ever been to Nacodogches (however its spelled) Huntsville, or any of those other schools/cities? (besides San Marcos- nice place)There is nothing to do there except drink heavily and watch football. Well, I guess you could visit the state pen in Huntsville.
Win and they will come. Period. That's how every Dallas sports team, pro or college (other than the Cowboys), plays. Trust me, I used to go to Mavs games all the time in the 90s- empty seats everywhere. Now look what happens.

I'm not looking for a symphony at halftime of a football game. I can go to the Murchison for that.
I've seen some of the pep band break it down at basketball games- it'd be some hillarious fun for everyone if they magnified it.
NO! Please leave the dance moves to the NT Dancers. They're better at that stuff.
No disrespect to the Ohio U band, but the Green Brigade is made up of some of the best musicians in America. We don't need them to stoop to this level. Play a fun pop song every once in a while... sure. Just don't copy that.

Ohio U and the party rock anthem
We're a creative school too- I could definitely see the green brigade doing that even better. or maybe twist and shout, something that Kram could relate to (kidding)

if we are talking about positive ticket coverage... I've heard Sean Bass (who also posts on here) give us some props as well...

Yeah, I'm blizzarded out. Diablo I and II were enough for me.

hence why I changed it to "Look forward to"

*i look forward to the day.... and yes I do.
You sure you want to stand by this statement?

Why do the bud/miller lite tents now charge for beer?
I also ventured over to the student section... so much more energy there. I think some were confused on how to cheer during a football game (having to be prompted for third down, other interesting questions I heard) but if alumni who arent on this board can ever figure out how to cheer.... what a great homefield advantage we would have.
Props to the Greek for dominating the hill tailgating... I rue the day when the hill, as well as the softball lot across the street, and heck maybe fouts are packed.
My boss and his father couldn't stop talking about the great atmosphere. Now all we need is a couple wins.

Buy a flask and keep it concealed
I know it's not open, I'm saying it would be nice to be able to grab a beer at halftime. I know we want to keep people in the stadium but now I'm afraid people won't come in at all

A buddy and I are coming up from Plano and are looking for a tailgate to join (no ,I'm not interested in my fraternities alumni tailgate) We'll bring beer and mexican meat (that meat is amazing) if need be. PM me or reply on here- we'll be getting there around 10.
Also, if anyone needs help with preparation we can do that.

I like this. Very much.
We, NT Athletics, has a legacy of "walk ups" and "I'm not going to buy season tickets." For decades, we, me too, have waited until the last minute to go to the games or come into the stadium. I haave arrived during the playing of our National Anthem many more times than I'd like to be reminded of.
Those days are over. If you want tickets, plan ahead. Just like you'd plan ahead for any other event.
We're the big time now. We've got to act like it.

Boca Raton smells like Ben-gay and social security checks

Athletics isn't going away, and where else can you get 30k alumni and fans of the school out together and supporting the University?
Denton's long been a drinking town with a college problem, if Denton residents can embrace this University, they will see their cities fortunes change for the better.

we may have large alumni numbers, but we don't act like it. Let's fill the stadium and turn our potential into action

The players can market themselves... when in class, show up be attentive, and talk to students about the team. Dan Mccarney does a good job of it and I'd expect a guy whose getting a full scholarship to do the same thing.
It's interesting- I had class with a lot of basketball players and they always promoted themselves. Josh White did a great job of it.
Fans can influence performance by showing up to games in larger numbers.
How do we attract more fans to follow the team? Give them info and visuals about the team, let them learn who the players are. Marketing 101.

How awesome is it to be a freshman class of 2015 at the University of North Texas right now?
I remember when I started back in 06, we had an enormous amount of problems athletically, and educationally and didnt know where the future lied for UNT.
Now these freshman come in with a new stadium, renewed commitment to athletics (baseball program by the time they're seniors?) winning basketball program, new business and life science facilities, a fresh $22 million donation, plus $8 million more, and I'm sure more on the way, and new fraternity house construction (more people living on campus please)
Not only this, they get free seats in the stadium. Oh, and Fry Street construction should be complete by their sophomore years.
I'm jealous of them. What a great time to be a freshman. Now, if only the City of Denton could do its part.

This donation pales in comparison to the amount of money UNT would receive if we still had the great darrel dickey as coach
I haven't heard much out of Brett Vito's mouth about this announcement, but I guess he's too busy writing about the fiasco

Craig James, a Senator?
in The Eagles Nest (There Should be Pie For Everyone Forum)

Ladies and Gentleman,
Craig James is looking to become the next US Senator, replacing the retiring Kay Bailey Hutchinson. I normally stay out of political campaign because of the ridiculousness they possess and undesirability of the majority of candidates, however I just can't stand Craig James.
"official announcement"
Since bribing, cheating and smearing doesn't necessarily make for a great career as an analyst (he is terrible), I guess he figured screwing over Texas was his next best bet.
