  1. What get's me is yall have flamed the WAC all this time, even when it had Boise/Fresno/Nevada/Hawaii, but might consider a MWC invite if it came (judging by the threads like "What can UNT add to the MWC"). How come? Its basically a reworked WAC.
  2. I didn't call him a douche, I said he rubbed off as one over at our place. But like I said, there is nothing to be jealous of (ok, sometimes having a bottom 20 MBB team gets old). If the WAC survives, it will be perfect competition for an FBS transitioning program like TXST. We're still working on our stadium (think SMU's with an end zone complex), and we're still using Parker Executive Search to find our next football coach. Our AD has said a coach will be named at the end of the end-of-the-year recruiting dead period (so first week of Jan). Best part is we should get a chance to step on LaTech's ego a few times, because both of us know if a CUSA spot opens up, they're not getting it.
  3. Most bobcats tend to agree. The Sunbelt offers stability and a regional geographic footprint, two things that sound really good right now...
  4. You need at least 8 to be recognized as an FBS conference (a technicality thing). If Benson doesn't add anymore football schools before June of 2011, then the league will basically be an affiliation of FBS schools in 2012 (just not an FBS conference). That's not the thing to worry about though. What everyone is concerned about is the potential loss of an automatic bid to NCAA tourneys, which only becomes an issue if the NCAA fails to adopt a new set of rules come January at their meeting in San Antonio.
  5. Jealousy? Really now. JEALOUSY?! Of what? Your conference affiliation? Your W/L record? Reality check. Yall are building a new stadium, while we are bowling ours in come March (might be may). Yall fired your HC and hired a coach who will turn the program around, while we fired our coach and will hire someone who will lead us into FBS. You have a good basketball team, while we have a good baseball team. Our budgets are comparable (NT-$16,643,811 TXST-$16,354,996) I ask again, what's there to be jealous of? Anyways, Meangreen61 and shaft are the only posters who bobcats tend to come in contact with (shaft flames Texas State on the WAC board every chance he gets, while Meangreen61 just rubs off as a douche on our board) - neither are a good representation of NT fans. 76% of us over there thought the question was stupid.
  6. Not sure why you would make the move, but it sure would be nice to have three schools along 35 - each with enrollments over 30K - in one league. I guess one can dream
  7. For the same reason MeanGreen61 lurks bobcatfans.com and chimes in when UNT is mentioned.. Are other schools' fans not welcome? Just trying to offer some insight into the thread topic, thats all.
  8. Let me tell you a little something about Texas State.. today, we have school pride. Just look how long that billboard lasted. Do you think it was the community that ripped Grande? No. It was noticed on a weekend and by Monday it was taken down. We are sick of being in UT's shadow (even though the whole state is, we get it a little more since we are the closest), and try everything possible to get out from under it to differentiate ourselves. Now, our Alumni (the SWT ones) are a different story. They tout their burnt orange like every other bandwagoner (my bro in law is a prime example - he holds longhorn football parties weekly, but attended SWT in the 80's). And to your UT reject comment, I think this can be said for all other state schools outside of TAMU. UT rejects some good students and we, along with the other big schools, try to swoop them up. It's not like they come here to transfer out the next year, look at our retention rate (higher than UNT, UTSA, UTEP, on par with UH, and two percent behind Tech). We do get respect from the longhorns, but only in baseball (they even come to our house). We always keep the game close and shoot ourselves in the foot during the last inning. The last 3-4 I have gone to against UT, we lost by one run.. and remember, this is to one of the nation's most respected teams. I'm a student now, and while I didn't apply to UT, I was accepted to Tech and TAMU. I chose Texas State and not once have I regretted my decision.
