  1. I'm not trying to get ahead of ourselves, but if we're changing conferences, we'll have to address the OOC schedule and do it quickly. We have a home & home with Tulsa in 2014/2015 that will need to be replaced, I am sure it would be easy for us to replace them with one of ASU or UL. But I am more concerned with the fact that it looks like 3 away games for the next 4 or 5 years, unless we bring in an FCS team. It is going to be difficult to find a school to get a home and home with quickly to replace Tulsa, I hope it is a SBC school. It's going to take some money, or we're going to have an FCS team on the schedule at home until 2016. The change presents huge challenges, but also gives us a chance to salvage our future schedules and get two home games, and two away, instead of 3. I just hope it's not an FCS school every year to bridge that gap.

    2013

    1.09/21 - at Georgia

    2.TBA - Ball State

    3.TBA - at Ohio

4.? *Need a home game here

    2014

    1.08/30 - at Texas

    2.09/06 - SMU

3.09/13 - at Tulsa *Needs to be replaced by a home game

    4.10/04 - at Indiana

    2015

1.09/05 - Tulsa *Needs to be replaced by a home game

    2.09/12 - at SMU

    3.TBA - at Iowa

4.? *Need a home game here

As you can see, we'll need to find 4 home opponents for 4 years. I think it's very likely we get an FCS in two of the years at home, and sign a home and home that way we would only have 3 away games in OOC one time from 2013-2015. Either way we've signed one too many away games for the future, but you can't have your cake and eat it too. We've complained about OOC schedule forever, well now we get the schools we wanted to play in conference, and will have complainers about the OOC when conference slate is better. I wonder how RV will do with all this, it looks like a big mess to me personally.

Bump, Soooo.... now that we really do need to replace Tulsa games with OOC games....

Come on Rick V! Who's it gonna be?

  2. After seeing your post, I went back and listened to it today, and I didn't get that feeling either.......

I was rather positive on our future when we were finished.....

    We do appreciate the comments....

    gmg

All I got out of it is that good things are happening and fill the stadjum and the pit.

Love the state of the union every time we get it.

  3. Unless I've missed something, Chaz is a wr not a tight end. However, tight end is probably NT's deepest position with Power, Prior, Miller, Smith and Smith.

I believe there was some talk of him moving to TE by chico or dmac...

Anyways, he still looks a bit skinny to be a te. I guess we'll see how things play out.

BTW, for the spring game(attending for the first time this year), do they pass out rosters or something like that?

  4. First I'll start off by admitting that outside of UNT college hoops, I'm not much of a fan. In fact, outside of the mavs and UNT hoops, I really don't care for the sport in general compared to hockey, and of course football and baseball. It is a good workout to play a little round ball, but spectating.... meh.

So some on here were griping about not having good enough laundry represented. Now, we've got the 2 winning-est programs in college hoops history going at it, and I could not possibly be more disinterested. To me, there is no intrigue at all. Ho hum, Kansas might rack up another championship...or ditto for Kentucky. Meh.

Granted, they earned their spots by fighting through a the big tournament. No gripes there(it still baffles me people were griping about the finalists last year on this board). But, I have no connections to either university...and since they've won so much it is just a resounding meh every time I see this being hyped up on espn and whatever other tv/radio station is speculating about it.

Anyways, had a great time Saturday in the basketball game. Nice exercise, and as far as I could tell, nobody got hurt.

    Go Mean Green!

  5. The more I think about Trice returning kicks, the more excited I get about that possibility. My reason: He's short.

When he gets up behind the wedge, he'll practically vanish behind those bigger guys. He's fast and shifty enough to get to the next level on his own, throw in the fact that opponents won't be able to really see him, and I think you have a recipe for large gains on Special Teams. I think we would consistently have good field position with him back there.

Of course, kick/punt returning is pretty crazy and I would hate to see him injured. I think we're going to be relying on him pretty heavily on defense in the passing game.

    Tough call.

I too am getting excited about Trice's impact on this team. A "ball hawking" safety that can still lay the lumber is one thing... A guy that can electrify the crowd and change a game in the punt return game is another thing all together.

I was trying to get Vito to make some comparisons in his blog between Trice and the rest of the DB's and WR's with regard to overall speed, quickness, and athleticism... From the workout video's, I got the impression that he was superior... I wonder how this translates to how he looks in practice.

Anyways, I think this guy is one of the keys to taking a step forward next season. Can't wait to see...

  6. "Update 6:03 - Travis Ellard has a pretty awesome red beard. I keep waiting for him to suggest that we all "feed your lawn. feed it"

    Line of the Blog.

I also like that the product they are pushing in some of these ads is called "bonus s"... as in, there is a bonus component to the fertilizer... it is sh!t. bonus s... feed your lawn. feed it with bonus sh!t.

  7. Here is one thing I do know... TRUST IN MAC and CHICO.

If Mr. Young will fit and can contribute, MAC and CHICO will bring him in...

Does the prospect of bringing a stud high school qb from Denton get me excited? Yes. But, don't let high school stars blur your vision. We have actual "credible" coaches now. It is time to trust them.

If he comes in...then awesome! We've all thought competition can only improve a program and a position.

If not, either he didn't want to be here, or our coaching staff determined a scholarship would be better spent on another athlete for the University of North Texas.

I'm no scout...or football expert. Just a fan. I hear this kid was great in High School from you guys and rivals/scout/espn.

If he couldn't start at Tech, there is no shame in that, but I can't automatically assume he would be better than what we've got. Under the guidance of this coaching staff, DT, Osborn, mini-mac(like this nickname btw), and cooper jones could pass someone up that was great coming out of high school... I don't know why people can't or don't consider this possibility.

    TRUST IN MAC and CHICO.

  8. You guys have probably already considered this, but I guess every board is gonna be different for each of the 32 nfl franchises. Heck, some teams had Tim Tebow as a forth or fifth rounder... obviously all it takes is one team to put Lance in their top 7 rounds... I guess we'll see.

  9. I am not a fan of retiring numbers for college teams. Every year you should have about 25 kids graduate and 25 incoming players... The math does not support retiring numbers in college sports... Let's just honor young men with a hof and leave it at that.

  10. Is the hard truth we over rate him cause he is ours? I am really starting to think so.

I know we love this guy, and he played his heart out for us.

I guess we will see if he gets an opportunity at the next level...and then what he does with it.

Give it to them lance. Show everyone what we see but everyone else is apparently missing. Good luck.

  11. the sirroy bro's and sean bass were talking up the mean green and tony mitchell...and sturm and mcdowell were making fun of it. Donny do said a couple of semi-supportive things...

    after that...nothing really.

Georgy did a segment about 6:00 this morning that was pretty George like. That was a better segment of course.

  12. Arlington Martin was well represented. My son, Connor / OL, signed 2/1 and he took 3 jrs from this past years team including an OL, LB and DB. Connor said it was a great event and you would never know Coach Mac had a stroke a few weeks ago. There is a new sheriff in town and he ain't wearing purple or blue.

Next we need to pack Apogee for the spring game 4/21.

I will at the spring game with the family.

More importantly, we need every one of our home games this fall packed! All the way up to the top of the wing'ed end zone. our Alumns and students need to come alive for us to turn the corner!

It is time for this sleeping giant to wake up. I'm getting tired of potential!

  13. Sept. 1 -- at LSU (Loss) 0 - 1

    Sept. 8 -- Texas Southern (Win) 1 - 1

    Sept. 15 -- at Kansas State (Loss) 1 - 2

    Sept. 22 -- Troy* (Win) 2 - 2

    Sept. 29 -- at Florida Atlantic* (Win) 3 - 2

    Oct. 6 -- at Houston (Loss) 3 - 3

    Oct. 16 -- Louisiana-Lafayette* (Win) 4 - 3

    Oct. 27 -- at Middle Tennessee* (Win) 5 - 3

    Nov. 3 -- Arkansas State* (Homecoming) (Loss) 5 - 4

    Nov. 10 -- South Alabama* (Win) 6 - 4

    Nov. 17 -- at Louisiana-Monroe* (Win) 7 - 4

    Nov. 24 -- at Western Kentucky* (Win) 8 - 4

    8-4 - 2 games of improvement...with a harder out of conference schedule.

I think we win all but 1(4 - 1) home game(ark st), and we go 4 - 3 on the road.

Huge step forward this season. Can't Wait!

  14. Yeah. One would think that with technology today 1 beat reporter could be in Hot Springs, AR as well as Denton, TX at the same time.

Vito needs to learn to prioritize!!!!1! SBC Basketball tournament? Whatever... Football is king in Texas!

Come on... Vito is where he should be... It is conference tourney time!

On a side note, I did peruse espn, scout, and rivals, and the number of offers appears to be up from the rivals site especially... I would imagine these are the tip of the iceberg.

    Go git em! DMAC!

BTW, if we fill the stadium, our recruiting gets tons better... TONS!

    Go Mean Green!

  15. ECU needs to understand that they are far from any schools unless they start opening colleges in the middle of the atlantic ocean.

That is true. Being on a coast would make travel difficult in the alliance. Pirate ships don't travel across land very easily.

I've got to say that based on attendance, those guys have a huge beef with regard to being included in any of the "big" conferences. If we find ourselves in a conference with them, I would LOVE to check their atmosphere out as a road fan. Seeing 50K dressed as pirates would probably be a ton of fun on game day...all drinking rum and yelling arrrrrg n stuff.
