  1. Nebraska started receiving a full share this year.

As a member of the Big 12, Nebraska received a larger share of the income than most of the other members.

It was not all about the money.  Yes, it was a major factor but the academic benefits and the equality in the decision making was also major factors.

@MeanGreenDadx2 wanna fill people in on why Nebraska really left the Big 12?

Nebraska's chancellor  was warned of the upcoming conference reorganisation and was told that NU likely could be left standing alone.  Proactively, he contacted the Penn State chancellor and asked if the Big 10 would be interested. The rest as they say is history.

Nebraska was dissatisfied with Texas running the conference and the other schools kowtowing to Texas.  Remember the Big 8 formed the Big 12 with 4 schools of the Southwest conference. So a chance to join the Big 10 where all schools have an equal say and share the money equally was too good not to pass up. Plus the Big 10 has an outstanding academic sharing program and private high speed network among the member schools that was and still is unique to the Big 10.

Didn't read much of your guys' conversation but saw the "Iowa is a Big10 Power" sentence you threw out. That is laughable. Iowa is not a power of anything. They are the epitome of mediocre. Ferentz has been there for 18 years. He is averaging 7.8 wins and 5.2 losses a year during his tenure. If that is a traditional power team to you, then power on. To me, that's textbook mediocrity.

Evidently you didn't see the beatdown of Ohio State by Iowa (55 - 24) by a greater margin than Iowa beat us.

Love the flag, not the location. It should have been placed right in heart of the tailgating section on the top of the hill, where it would be seen from everywhere. There are never going to build a hotel there anyway.

Look at the photo a little closer.  Yeah, it is at half mast so imagine it at full mast. It will be higher.  Duh!

  5. Question, what is our record against teams with a winning record when we play them at Apogee? Then what is our record against teams with a losing record.

That would give an idea of our chances of beating a quality team at Apogee. Please no guessing or I think, just the facts.

We should beat the schools you listed. But we should also beat SDSU for local or semi local kids. Or at least not be written off their list when a SDSU offer is handed down. As for Tulsa, they're getting better and much like smug, they have that privy private education they can over hype to parents. They are also much closer to Texas. So I can see why fending them off is a little more difficult as compared to say SDSU.

Convince me that "We should beat the schools you listed."  Why should North Texas win those recruiting battles, you imply that should be easy if the coaching staff were not inept.  Let's assume the coaching staff is equal to other schools staff, tell me why we win the recruiting battles.

Another change to the schedule could be made by adding a home and home with Nebraska. The Huskers have an opening for a road game in 2020. We could easily give them the return game in 2022. All we have to do is drop Houston Baptist. This is what the change would look like.

    2020- SMU, @A&M, Houston Baptist, @Army

    2022- SMU, @Memphis

    or

    2020- SMU, @A&M, Nebraska, @Army

    2022- SMU, @Memphis, @Nebraska

If Wren were able to Drop both Wisconsin and Houston Baptist, and add home and homes with OK St. and Nebraska, this is what our future schedule could look like.

    2019- Abilene Christian, @SMU, Army, @Oklahoma State

    2020- SMU, @A&M, Nebraska, @Army

    2022- @SMU, Army, Oklahoma State, @Nebraska

That is a non conference schedule the athletic department can sell to recruits and potential season ticket purchasers. People like us will buy our season tickets and be at the games, but we need to think of how we can tap into our large alumni base in DFW, and attract more media attention in Texas. Plus, I think a schedule like this would help us win more battles for some of the higher regarded recruits.

I doubt Nebraska will schedule UNT for a home and home.  Over the last 20 years, Nebraska has played 2 away games with non-P5 teams, 2003 and 2011.  In 2011 Nebraska visited Wyoming as part of home and home or a 2 for 1 arrangement.  Nebraska has a history with Wyoming going back at least 50 years.  Nebraska visiting Apogee is most likely not gonna happen.

With all do respect, I don't think its doom and gloom to speculate on our projected record, but after our 1st road win in 3 years against a team that now is 0&4 we probably shouldn't pack a bowl bag just yet.The same attitude should apply to Littrell. He beat Rice and a 1AA school that I had never heard of.Goals and objectives should be realistic and obtainable with a little pie in the sky. Road wins against UTEP and UTSA are, in my opinion, reasonable and obtainable. One home win, with Marshall being the most likely prospect, might also be obtainable. To me Army could be  a toss up, but we are going to struggle against W.K. on the road, as well as MTSU,LA.Tech, and So. Miss. at home. My pie in the sky is 4 to 5 wins, but hey, that's just me.

So what you are saying is we are probably out of the running to be in the College Football playoff.  I better call and cancel my ticket request.

I was there tonight. Got lucky in my seat in that Alec Morris and Fred Scott sat directly in front of me. Both seemed like humble leaders. Someone in the crowd asked Seth in between segments how Fine was looking, Seth looked at Morris and asked "You think 6 will be good?" and they both just laughed. Alec then turned to me and said "If he was 2 inches taller he'd have an offer from every school in the country, because he can rip it" straight from the horses mouth they know what we have in Fine. Scott seemed a lot more confident in their ability to key in on Davis this time around.

Pretty packed house. Wren was there along with Hank, Reggie, Mike Smith and John Nitardy that I could recognize from the AD. Idk why, but John Nitardy just pisses me off every time I see him.

Everyone seemed to be in a good mood. Excited for the season to get started.

I'm also probably about 5 pounds heavier than I was 3 hours ago

I was the person who asked Seth about Mason Fine.  My question was how did you and Coach Harrell know Mason Fine was the real deal?  His answer was "Look at the film and you know" then he said "he has a chip on his shoulder and I like that."  He then turned to Alec and asked "You think 6 will be good?"  Alec response was dead serious even though he laughed.  You could tell Alec respected Mason.

    With mustard or ketchup?

Yes, all the condiments you could want (maybe).  Ketchup, several kinds of mustard, 2 kinds of relish, chopped onions and sauerkraut.  Am I missing something?

    Just a guess...

    1. They gave 2000 hats away... Not 2000 hats away to 2000 Mean Green fans.  People love the free stuff regardless of what team it is.

    2.  It was in July...months before 66-7 to Portland state enroute to 1-11 in football.... and months before the Benfords go 9-18 in basketball.

    Rick

Then why couldn't they give away 2000 hats to UTA, SMU or TCU fans on their college night?

Because so few people are proud of anything North Texas.  It's pretty easy to understand..  Not saying I like it.  But that's just how it is right now.

    Rick

Then explain why at least 2000 people showed up for the UNT baseball night sponsored by the Rangers.  2000 hats were given away and there were still more people in line when the hats ran out.  You might be able to draw conclusions based on the popularity of Mavs basketball vs Rangers baseball or the differences in price of Mavs basketball vs Rangers baseball.  But 130 fans vs over 2000 fans doesn't say anything definitive about UNT pride or lack thereof.
